ENGLISH BULLETIN (3) FOR 8th GRADERS
Dear Parents,
On this page you will see the grammar subjects, vocabulary and the activities that have been learnt so far in our lessons.
The lessons are applied according to a system named ‘Thinking Skills’. At the end of each unit, the students produce
something on their own or with a partner. We have finished the tenth unit in our book and we have just started the
eleventh unit on 7th March, 2011. Our students will be informed about the exam topics in two weeks.

ACTIVITIES
Through the third unit, students created a skin care product. Then in the fifth unit, they wrote a composition about
Atatürk, “How would technology change Atatürk’s life if he was alive today?”
In the sixth unit, they wrote a crime story. In the ninth unit, they wrote a different life story for a popular person.
SKILLS ( Mrs. Deborah Alptekin)
The students finished reading The Vampire’s Tear. The class wrote an acrostic using the title. They gave presentations on
the boroughs of New York City- Queens, Staten Island, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and The Bronx.
They also read about vampires in films and watched parts of 3 famous vampires in movies. Then they created a
comparison and contrast of the three movies. We started The Count of Monte Cristo. The students drew a timeline of
Napoleon’s life because the book happens during Napoleon’s life. The students learned the game ‘Scattegories’ which is
a vocabulary game where the students must identify words from different categories but each word must begin with a
certain letter. The students enjoyed the challenge.

Bu sayfamızda işlemiş olduğumuz gramer konularını, kelimeleri ve aktivitelerimizi göreceksiniz. Her ünitenin kelimeleri
öğrencilerin kolay öğrenmesi ve unutmamaları için sürekli olarak kavram haritaları üzerinde tekrar edilmektedir. İngilizce
derslerinde öğrenim Düşünme Becerileri Sistemi’ne göre yapıldığından aşamalı ve sistematik bir biçimde uygulama yapılır.

AKTİVİTELER
Öğrencilerimiz üçüncü ünitede yeni bir bakım ürünü tasarladılar ve beşinci ünitede ulu önder Atatürk ile ilgili bir çalışma
yaptılar. Altıncı ünitede bir dedektif hikâyesi yazdılar. Dokuzuncu ünitede ise ünlü bir profil için farklı bir hayat hikayesi
yazdılar.
İNGİLİZCE BECERİ DERSİ (MRS. DEBORAH ALPTEKİN)
Öğrencilerimiz “Vampire’s Tear” isimli kitabı okumuşlardır. Kitabın adını akrostiş kullanarak yazmışlardır. New York’un
semtleriyle - Queens, Staten Island, Manhattan, Brooklyn ve The Bronx ile ilgili sunum yapmışlardır. Üç ünlü vampirli
filmlerden parçalar izleyip mukayese ettiler. “Monte Kristo Kontu” adlı kitabı okumaya başladık. Film Napolyon
döneminde geçtiği için, bu dönemle ilgili zaman çizgisi hazırladık. “Scattegories” isimli bir kelime oyunu oynayarak, kelime
hazinemizi geliştirdik. Öğrencilerimiz bu oyundan çok keyif aldılar.
