Dear Friends,
We would like to announce that as of this month, the Moon and Stars Project has
become a part of The American Turkish Society, a pioneer non-governmental
organization that has sought to enhance the economic, political and cultural ties between
Turkey and the United States for six decades, and one of the first and most prominent
supporters of the Moon and Stars Project.
We are confident that operating as the arts and culture outfit of The American Turkish
Society will give the Moon and Stars Project more strength in its efforts to highlight the
changing face of Turkey's arts and culture in the United States through its programs
incorporating the visual arts, theater, film, literature, traditional and contemporary music,
project sponsorships and grants. Furthermore, this union will enhance The American
Turkish Society's efforts to bring Turkey and the U.S. closer through cultural exchange.
Our mission and name remain unchanged. Our team Ayça User, Binnaz Saktanber, Kaan
Nazlı will maintain their duties, working together with The Society's Arts & Culture
Committee, Board Members, and Staff, and our founder and Honorary Chair Nur Emirgil.
We will continue reviewing and adjusting our strategies to better adapt to an everchanging environment and the new challenges it brings. We are happy to greet you with a
fresh logo and more dynamic website as we launch our fall & winter program.
On November 13, we will bring you Kardeş Türküler (Songs of Fraternity) with Arto
Tunçboyaciyan in Concert with Special Guest Star Ara Dinkjian. Next year, we will
co-present with the Film Society of Lincoln Center an exciting and groundbreaking film
program named "The Space Between: A History of Turkish Cinema," a tremendous
undertaking presenting 25 films that are the stepping stones of Turkish cinema, and
another "first" in the United States.
In its short thirteen-year history, the Moon and Stars Project has produced a broad swathe
of events many of which have been a "first" in the United States. These are the "first":

Retrospective on a Turkish film director
Turkish film program at the Lincoln Center
Turkish music concerts at Central Park
Regular artistic grant program to be initiated by a Turkish-American
organization
Open call for a residency scholarship to be offered by a TurkishAmerican organization targeting emerging artists in Turkey
Regular merit grant by a US organization for young Turkish photography
artists
Nationwide effort to organize coordinated Turkish film screenings across
the United States
It is this type of innovation and pioneering that have and will set the Moon and Stars
Project apart.
None of this would have been possible without the generous support of our advisory
board, grantors, sponsors, advertisers, members, a large spectrum of collaborating and
supporting organizations, our committed audiences, and last but not the least, our allvolunteer staff who continue to work around the clock to present high-quality programs
throughout the year. We would like to thank you for your endless support for the past

Moon and Stars Project bu aydan itibaren faaliyetlerini Türkiye ve Amerika Birleşik
Devletleri arasındaki ekonomik, siyasi ve kültürel bağları güçlendirmeyi hedefleyen öncü
hükümet-dışı kuruluşlardan The American Turkish Society (Amerikan Türk Cemiyeti)
bünyesinde sürdürecek.
The American Turkish Society’nin kültür ve sanat ekibi olarak faaliyet göstermenin Moon
and Stars Project’in görsel sanatlar, tiyatro, film, edebiyat, geleneksel ve çağdaş müzik,
proje sponsorlukları ve ödülleri alanındaki programları vasıtasıyla Türkiye kültür ve
sanatının değişen yüzünü öne çıkarma çabalarını güçlendireceğinden eminiz. Bu
birleşme, 62. yıldönümünde The American Turkish Society’nin kültürel değişim yolu ile
A.B.D. ile Türkiye’yi yakınlaştırma çabalarını da ilerletecektir.
İsmimiz ve misyonumuz değişmeyecek. Ekibimiz Ayça User, Binnaz Saktanber ve Kaan
Nazlı The Society'nin Kültür & Sanat Komitesi, Yönetim Kurulu üyeleri ve kadrosu, ve
kurucumuz ve onursal başkanımız Nur Emirgil ile birlikte çalışarak görevlerini
sürdürecekler. Sürekli değişen ve yenilenen koşullara daha iyi uyum sağlayabilmek için
stratejilerimizi gözden geçirmeye ve yenilemeye devam edeceğiz. Sonbahar ve kış
programımızı başlatırken yeni bir logo ve daha dinamik bir web sitesi ile karşınızda
olmaktan memnunuz.
13 Kasım'da Ara Dinkjian'ın özel misafir sanatçı olarak katılacağı Kardeş Türküler ve
Arto Tunçboyacıyan Konseri ile karşınızda olacağız. Gelecek sene kurumlarımız Film
Society at Lincoln Center ile birlikte “The Space Between: A History of Turkish
Cinema” adli Türkiye sinemasının temel taşlarını oluşturan 25 filmi içeren özgün ve
kapsamlı bir film programı sunacak. Bu Amerika’da yaptığımız “ilk”lerden bir diğeri.
Onüç yıllık kısa tarihçesi içerisinde Moon and Stars Project Amerika’da “ilk” olan geniş

edecek.
Bunların hiçbiri danışma kurulu, proje destekçileri, sponsorlar, reklam verenler, üyelerimiz,
işbirliği içinde olduğumuz ve destek aldığımız kuruluşlar, seyircilerimiz ve tüm yıl boyunca
yüksek kalitede programlar üretmek için sürekli çalışan gönüllülerimiz olmadan mümkün
olamazdı. Geçtiğimiz on yıl içerisinde süregelen desteğiniz için teşekkür ediyor, vizyon ve
tutkumuzu paylaşmaya devam edeceğinizi umuyoruz.
