The Principal’s Email
Dear students, parents and staff,
It is so uplifting to witness the change in the weather, and after rains have such clean air and
sunshine. This positivism animates the school at present, and it is lovely to see the preparations for
Childrens’ Day, as well as the energy our students are putting into their preparations for externally
assessed exams this summer. Year 6 have just finished their Cambridge exams which give us such
useful information on each individual’s progress – we wish them all well as the papers go to
Cambridge for marking. Knowing a lot about each student is a preoccupation for us, as we seek to
personalise or individualise each person’s experiences and pathways throughout their time with us.
ESK had an outstanding Secondary Sports Day last week with Othello House coming out on top for
the second year running. The effort was amazing from all the students and for many of them it has
kick-started their fitness ready for the summertime. The following day a record number of ESK
students attended the Esentepe Fun Run, headed by a phenomenal performance from a young year
4 student, Roman Marchukov, who ran 8 km and finished in 5th place amongst all the men. The ESK
PE department have also been trying to raise the awareness of the Rio Olympics which is happening
this summer. They are trying to run the 10,300 km to get there. It is a brave challenge but many
students are totally dedicated to achieving this – let’s wish them well!
Games.con was really a pleasure to watch on Saturday. The games were not violent, and by hosting
such an event gaming became more social. Different ages seem to like totally different games, and
boys and girls have very different tastes in many cases. Our thanks go to Mr Graeme Stuart for
organising the event with help from some extremely capable students from Y12.

Sevgili öğrenciler, veliler ve çalışma arkadaşlarım,
Havanın değiştiğini görmek ve yağmurdan sonra gelen temiz ve güneşli havaya tanıklık etmek
oldukça moral yükseltici. Aynı zamanda çocukların , 23 Nisan Ulusal Egemenlik ve Çocuk Bayramı
etkinliklerine hazırlanmalarını izlemek çok güzel . Bu hava, büyük öğrencilerimizin yazın yapılacak
olan uluslararası sınavlara hazırlanmaları için de gerçekten enerji verici. 6.sınıf öğrencilerimiz, bize
herbirinin gelişimiyle ilgili yararlı bilgiler veren Cambridge sınavlarını tamamladılar. Öğrencilerimize,
Cambridge ‘ e değerlendirmek üzere gönderilen bu sınavlarda başarılar diliyoruz.
Geçtiğimiz hafta içinde ESK’da harika bir Orta-Lise Spor Günü gerçekleşti. Othello House , yarışmaları
geçen yıl olduğu gibi yine birinci olarak tamamladı. Tüm öğrencilerimizin gösterdikleri performans
inanılmazdı, pekçoğu yaz için çok yoğun biçimde spor yaparak hazırlanmaya başladılar. Önümüzdeki
gün yapılacak olan Esentepe Yardım Koşusuna için rekor sayıda ESK Öğrencisi katılıyor. En başta da ,
müthiş performansıyla yarışan ve 8 km. koşarak, tüm erkekler için yarışı 5.sırada bitiren, 4.sınıf
öğrencisi Roman Marchukov. ESK Beden Eğitimi Bölümü, bu yaz yapılacak olan Rio Olimpiyatları için
farkındalık yaratmaya çalışıyorlar. Oraya gidebilmek için 10,300 km. koşmaya çalışıyorlar. Bu oldukça
çetin bir hedef ancak bazı öğrenciler buna erişmek için bütünüyle hevesliler. Bizde onlara başarılar
diliyoruz!
Cumartesi günü yapılan (Games.con ) bilgisayar oyunlarını izlemek gerçekten harikaydı. Oyunlar ,
şiddet içermeyen türdendi ve bu , sosyal içeriğe sahip bir etkinlikti. Orta - lise sınıflarındaki değişik
yaş grupları için farklı oyunlar ile kızlarla erkeklerın tercih ettikleri çeşitli oyunlar bulunmaktadır. Mr
Graeme Stuart ‘a bu organizasyonu gerçekleştirdiği ve 12.sınıflardan bazı yetenekli öğrencilere de
yardımları için çok teşekkür ederiz.
