SUMMARY OF INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES:
At the end of this course, students should be able
-to explain health problems and causes of death in children in Turkey and in the world,
-to evaluate child growth and development,
-to define the aims of well child visit include disease prevention, early detection, health promotion, and anticipatory guidance
to improve child health,
-to explain preventive measures for common infectious diseases, nutritional disorders and certain genetic disorders,
-to provide knowing psychological features of infant, young child and adolescents, psychiatric evaluation of children and
adolescents, and basic characteristics of childhood psychiatric disorders.
SUMMARY OF TEACHING AND LEARNING METHODS:
Lectures, Clinical studies, Case presentations
Students are given both theoretical and practical training during the two weeks. Theoretical classes are taught by the
theaching staff from 8.00 a.m to 12.00 a.m.. On Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, between 1.00 p.m and 2.00 p.m a case
presentations or a clinico-pathologic meeting and theoretical trainings are carried out. Students are divided into four groups
including two-to-three students for practical training and under the observation of the professors they go to the Department of
Social Pediatrics, Pediatric Emergency Department, Division of General and Community Pediatrics, and Department of Child
Psychiatry by rotation between 2.00 p.m and 5.00 p.m.

a) SUMMARY OF ASSESSMENT METHODS:
At the end of this course students are evaluated by written examination and oral examination.
b) ASSESSMENT ARRANGEMENTS:
The students attending this course are evaluated within the law regulations of Erciyes University Faculty of Medicine.

Attendance: Students are required to attend all classes on time.
Lateness: Late attendances and submission will be not accepted.
