CONCRETE CANOE PASSED THE FLOATING TEST

Concrete canoe which was constructed as a Capstone Project has passed the floating test at
Glapsides Lake, Famagusta.
Concrete canoe produced is 610 cm in length with a width of 79.1 cm and 40.6 cm height completed
after 4 months hard work. Three students under the supervision of Dr. Özgür Eren & Dr. Mustafa
Ergil started the project as a “capstone project”. Project was divided five sections as design of
dimensions of canoe, design of concrete for canoe, design of formwork for canoe, pouring concrete
in formwork, curing concrete for 28 days and lastly float testing of canoe at Glapsides Lake. Floating
test took place on 20 January 2012 and satisfactorily completed the last stage of production.
