Policy is based on the principle
of “Health for Everyone”. Serious
steps are taken in our country
considering protection, improvement
and rehabilitation of health on this

smoking and obesity are provided
with success. Additionally, developing
technologies help improvements
on diagnosis and therapy periods in
our hospitals, as well as increase the
level of satisfaction on nursing by
well-educated, expert and qualified

without paying attention to language,
religion, nationality and gender
differences. Each and every health
planner and operator, knowing the
sacredness of right to live, serves
within this principle. Therefore every

Especially in Antalya, which is also
very popular by its high tourism
potential, medical tourism is not
only provided in varieties but
also is developing by sufficient
bed capacity, qualified staff and
the existence of various health
institutions and establishments.

and technical standards in
infrastructure, in medical
technologies, in international
common treatment protocols,
in sufficient communication
technologies and in qualified

Antalya, with more than ten
million visitors, is the third city in
the world which is visited most.
Antalya has natural beauty,
historical and cultural wealth,
tourism investments is one of the
world’s leading attractions.
Becouse of , Antalya has an
ever- increasing potential in
tourism and health sector. In
our province, there are over
two thousand tourism service
facility and around five thousand
patient beds in our hospitals. Our
objective is that; an environment
of confidence should exist which
requires to receive health service
from our province and every
one should leave Turkey with
pleasure and satisfaction for
these services provided.
Our works executed in
medical tourism are evaluated
comprehensively as elder and
disabled people due to medical
tourism and appropriate
climate of Antalya. Our health
institutions have international
standards in service, advanced
technology and human resource
utilization, the developments in
communication and transportation
services, patient rights, patient and
staff safety privileging legislation
all of . which increase our patient
satisfaction.
All areas healtcare , outstanding
effort, requires effort and devotion,
becouse at focus of the service
are human. Now, we have a health
care system at the international
level at serving at both the public
and private. Our health facilities
within the scope of our services
while producing international
quality standards to ensure the
safety of patients and staff are all
measures.
Our health potential is
considerably high. In our province;
over seventeen thousand health
personnel are employed in two
university hospitals, one training
and research hospital, fourty
hospitals of which twenty six
of them are private, six oral and
dental health, fifty 112 Emergency
Health Services stations and
other health organizations. Again,
International Patient Unit which
has been established in public
hospitals to meet emergency
health necessities of the tourists
in our company is in service for
24 hours.
When the services provide
within the scope of the
health tourism is observed,
the branches preferred most
are seem to be; eye diseases,
dental health, orthopedics,
brain surgery, KVC, oncology,
plastic surgery. When our
existing health potential and
our city’s characteristics are
taken into consideration, in the
health tourism (spa-wellness
tourism, treatment for advanced
ages and disabled persons,
rehabilitation and care services
etc.) we have been continuing
our works for being a leader
city. We hereby aim to make
Antalya, based on experience
and knowledge for years and
having strong infrastructure, a
world famous brand name in
the field of health tourism as
well.
History
An ancient legend tells about the founding
of Antalya: One day Attalos II summoned
his servant and dispersed them on the four
winds, saying, “Go and find me a place so
beautiful that all the kings and rulers will
covet it; go and find me the paradise on
earth” For months, the soldiers travelled
to lands far and wide , and though they
encountered many beautiful places, they
could not find a place whose heavenly
beauty could satisfy their king. That is, until
they arrived in the lands where today’s
Antalya is… Confronted with natural beauty
is such abundance, they were convinced
that is was the paradise that their king has
descirebed. They returned to Pergamum
expeditiously to tell their king that they
had found the paradise. Afterwords,
Attalos naturally wanted to see the area
for himself and fallowed his soldiers on a
journey to the shores of the Mediterranean.
Finally, they reached shore where the
lushly forested foothills of the Tourus
Mountains met the turquoise waters of
the Mediterranean. The king, seeing the
fine yellow sand of the beaches blend with
the blue of the sky and the deeper blue
of the sea that reflected the green of the
virgin forests was instantly spellbound. He
immediately ordered that a city be built
there, as he was convinced that it was the
most beautiful spot in the World. İn his
honour the city built was named “Attaleia”
(city/home of Attalos).
Besides, Antalya is a destination which is preferred for camp works by
various professional sport clubs. Antalya is the top city among the cities
having blue flag-beaches worldwide in 2014. Antalya is very favorable
for touristic actions in terms of its climate for 12 months a year. Annual
temperature average is; 18, 4°C’dir, mild climate conditions are a factor
of preference by all age groups year-round.

Antalya is a kind capital of tourism; hosting historical and natural
beauties in which all kinds of transportation opportunities are easily
provided, having higher hotel management standards, and in which
qualified medical people with advanced health infrastructure are living
therein.
Antalya; with a surface area of 20.723 km2 and a population of 2.158.268,
having a special 640 km-coast line, is a rich city with its historical places
and ruins. In the economy of Antalya; tourism, trade and agriculture
are at the fore front, and industrial activates have been developing
improvements recently. Besides, see, sand and sun tourism, the city has
a big liveliness and action due to its culture tourism, golf tourism, sports
tourism, congress tourism, yacht tourism, mountain tourism, tableland
tourism, winter tourism and health tourism which continue through the
year. Mediterranean University and International Antalya University are
available in Antalya and students utilize from all opportunities provided
by the modern education. There are two airports in Antalya; Antalya
Airport and Gazipaşa Airport. Around 60.000 planes are landing to
International Antalya Airport, within the scope of international flights,
which is one of the biggest airport of the Europe, and 345 direct flight
point connection are available. Antalya Airport meets around eleven
million visitors coming from 184 countries. In terms of distribution
of tourists visiting Turkey in 2013 according to border gates; 35% of
them are entering through Antalya, and the 38% of the tourists visiting
Antalya in 2013 are older than 45, in terms of their ages. There are totally
912 touristic plants of which 296 of them have five- star qualification
in Antalya and total number of beds is at a capacity to be capable
of hosting 469.000 guests. Besides, SPA-Wellness applications are
executed by professional teams at hotels. There are 15 golf courses in
Antalya and these courses are among the best destinations in Turkey.
The main theme of ‘children and flowers’ EXPO 2016 to be held in
Antalya in 2016 that the message is a green world for future generations.
Health sector has made breakthroughs in Turkey in recent years, the
quality and efficiency of it has been raised. In Turkey, health sector
serves in European standards with modern hospitals, its raised
manpower, expert doctors, technological infrastructure and experience.
All hospitals in Turkey have international service quality and most of
private hospitals have been certified by world- famous accreditation
institutions. Coordination of health services supplied to foreign patients
within Ministry of Health is provided. Foreign citizens are enabled
translation and consultancy service in 6 languages (English, German,
Arabic, Russian, Persian and French) through overseas calls by; +90

provide foreign- language- services. Works and transactions supplied to
foreign patients in Antalya in relation with health services are followed
up by Antalya Health Directorate Provincial Tourism Department.
In Antalya, health quality and infrastructure has also developed in
parallel with the general level of Turkey. In total; there exist; 14 public
hospitals, 27 private hospitals and 2 university hospitals, 22 private
branch centers, 23 dialysis centers, 5 treatment centers for supporting
reproduction, 6 oral and dental health centers, 20 policlinics, 79 mouth–
dental health polyclinics, 1 hyperbaric oxygen treatment center, 2
organ transplantation centered laboratory and institutions. All relevant
organizations are licensed by the Ministry of Health. All organizations
in Antalya supply service in accordance with National accreditation
criteria and audited by the Ministry of Health; 2 private hospitals have
JCI quality certificates. Foreign visitors in Antalya are supplied health
service in existing health organizations in all branches. With its raised
manpower and qualified expert physicians, Antalya plays a leading role
in health tourism. Antalya health tourism service areas are; Eye, Dental,
Orthopedics, Brain Surgery, Cardiology-KVC, Test-Tube Baby (IVF)
applications, Oncology, Radiotherapy, Plastic Surgery, Transplantation,
Dialysis, Hair Transplantation, Physical Treatment, advanced age group
patients requiring medical care.
In 2013, 118.611 foreign visitors who visited Antalya but required medical
service were provided health service. 6225 foreign patient have come
to Antalya as planned within the scope of health tourism and were
treated.
All kinds of services which may be needed by the visitors during the
period beginning from arriving to Antalya and until leaving are provided
by expert health personnel and other officials. The primary double arm
transplantation made in 2010 and the primary face transplantation
made in 2013 in Akdeniz University Hospital has been concrete evidence
showing the developments achieved by Antalya.

Antalya together with its counties has a lively sports life. Antalya,
strengthening its position in the international arena of land, air and
water sports year by year, organizes Europe- wide and World-wide

Antalya Training and Research Hospital is the biggest hospital of
Antalya Public Hospitals Group and is among most advanced hospitals

Antalya Training and Research Hospital began to serve in 2005 with
its modern architect over and area of 122.600 m2. It is one of the best
and modern hospitals of the region with its convenient and safe patient

There are totally 25 dialysis devices under service in our hospital.
Number of seance is around 11440 per year. We provide dialysis service
to the dialysis patients who visit our region for holiday purpose and we

MEDICAL ONCOLOGY CHEMOTHERAPHY UNIT
3 Policlinic rooms, 40 private cure – chaired chemotherapy halls, semi
automatic medication unit and 1 meeting hall in which hospital neoplasm
conventions are held are available.
Drugs are prepared in special sterilized room through semi automatic
systems by our experienced health personnel and applied subsequently.
NUCLEAR MEDICINE, PET-CT
In the Nuclear Medicine Unit; service is supplied by 1 Densi-meter
and 1 Gama Camera. Positron Emission Tomography + Computerized
Tomography (PET-CT), advanced two imaging systems are being used
together, thus a detailed imaging of human body is available by this
technological procedure.
CARDIOVASCULAR SURGERY
RADIATION ONCOLOGY CENTER
Devices used in our hospital which entered into service in 2011;
Linear Accelerator; supplies electron energy in five different stage, with
6-18 MV level X ray energy and is used for deep and surface settled
neoplasm cure. IMRT techniques which determine the quality of the
therapy are uses successfully.
GE Trade Mark 8 – cross section Computerized Tomography Device can
take qualified tomography and images and support us accordingly.
CMS-XİO system is used as treatment planning system

Our clinic entered into service in 2008 and involves; 1 Assistant Professor,
2 Side Branch Assistants, 1 Intern Physician, 1 Internal Diseases Assistant
and Nurse staff. Chemotherapy applications are available both for
outpatient and inpatients.
Bone Marrow Transplantation Center Clinique serves as 7 bedcapacity service, Apheresis Unit: consists of private unit stem cell
separation and keeping units in which blood components and stem
cells are segregated and collected through special procedures and
special devices.

Antalya Training and Research Hospital Physical Medicine and
Rehabilitation Center serves with its 30 - bed capacity service and
11 polyclinics. In this Clinic; 1 professor, 1 assistant professor 3 heads
assistant, 10 assistants, 8 expert physicians, 16 physical therapists, 1
physical treatment technician, 12 nurses, 1 officer 14 secretaries and 10
personnel are being employed. Inpatient hospitals generally consist
of those who have been suffering from infection in spinal cord or post
trauma – lesion, paralyzed persons after palsy and muscle diseases. 2
EMG devices are in service therein. In Ultrasonic laboratory, diagnosis
purpose- assessment and interventional operations are applied. With
ISOMED2000 device used in Isokinetic Laboratory, power tests and
power exercises may applied. Patients having the risk of fell down
and having vestibular problems are applied tests and exercise by
Tetraks posturography device. By TANİTA MC-180MA device; body
composition may be determined and exercise prescription may be
offered. In the room designed for cerebral palsy rehabilitation; kids are
applied exercise and training program. By the injections including dry
injection, PRP and trigger point applications, kinesiotheraphy, active
and resistant exercises may be applied. In Electro - therapy section,
ultrasound, combined electro - therapy, TENS, traction, short wave
devices are available and patients suffering pain may be cured.
Antalya Training and Research Hospital Brain Surgery Clinic serves
with its 30 bed capacity 1 brain surgery service, 3 policlinics and 1
surgery room available for 7 days a week and an additional surgery
room available two days a week. Around 1300 operations are achieved
per year. In the Clinic;
Hematology Clinic
Hematology clinic consists of 24-bed capacity service and 7-bed
capacity stem cell transportation unit. In our Clinic, all hematologic
diseases may be diagnosed and treated (Acute leukemia, chronic
myeloid leukemia, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, lymphomas,
multiple myeloma, anemias, thalassemia other hemoglobin diseases,
myelodisplastic syndrome, thrombosis diseases). In the therapeutic
apheresis within the clinic; by plasma filtration methods; (plazma
pheresis, double filtration cascade filtration and ve immunoadsorption)
various diseases may be cured (multiple myeloma, systemic lupus
eritamatozus, hyperlipidemis). In stem cell transportation unit; multiple
myeloma, refractory/recurrent lymphoma and acute leukemia patients
may be subject to stem cell transplantation. Thalassemia Center within
the scope of the Hematology Clinic is among the relevant few centers
of Turkey. In this Center, thalassemia patients are subject to blood

Ancient city of Perge
Ancient city of Perge is situated within the boundaries of Aksu,
a town 17 kilometres east of the Antalya city centre. The city
believed to be in existence during the Hittite Period and known as
“Parha” became one of the most orderly cities of Anatolia during
the Roman Period. The city became famous for its achitecture
and marble sculpting, and the statues unearthed during the
excavations of the ancient city have rendered the Antalya Museum
one of the most important collections of its type in the World.
The basis of the city plan of Perge is two main roads, one
extending in an easth-west direction, and the other in a northsouth direction. The 15,000-seat theatre is quite well preserved.
The two storey elaborately decorated stage building across the
cavea was built during the 2nd century AD. The artefacts found there
are today on permanent display at the “Hall of Perge Theatre” in
the Antalya Museum. The excellence of those sculptures reflects the
unique style of the Perge ecole of sculpting.
Another pricipal structure of the ancient city of Perge is the stadium
was built in the 2nd century BC to the North of the theatre, and the
spectators section has a capacity of about 12,000 seats. Other social
and cultural buildings reflecting the majesty of the city in Antiquity

Department of Eye Diseases
This department encompasses frontal segment (cornea- contact lens
and glaucoma), rear segment (uvea, medical and surgical retina) and
strabismus (Peditaric Ophthalmology) section and any kind of eye
operation is possible except for refractive surgery and orbital surgery.
There are argon-Dye and ND-Yag Laser units. This department
is capable of performing keratosplasty (cornea transplantation),
cataract surgery (phaco technique and conventional methods),
strabismus operations, lacrimal apparatus operations, glaucoma

and vitreoretinal surgical operations and worldclass results are attained. The policlinic offers fundus fluorescein
angiography (FFA), Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT),

Department of Ear, Nose& Throat
This department offers diagnosis and treatment services in Rhinology,
Facial Plastic Surgery, Autology- Neuroautology, Head- Neck surgery,
Laryngology, Audiovestibular and speech disorders, Pediatric
Autolaryngology with its specialized working groups. There are High
Freguency Audiometry, ABR, MLR, LLR, EcochG, VEMP, Autoacoustic
Emission, Impedancemeter measurements. The department has also
recently started tinnitus treatment with the newly acquired soft
laser device. Moreover, we also have computerized audio analysis
system and videolaryngostroboscopy facilities for the diagnosis and
treatment of audio disorders. The patients with obstructive sleep
apnea complaint are diagnosed in our Polisomnography Laboratory
that was founded in 2008 and that is accredited. The department
uses acoustic rhinometer and rhinomanometer for the objective
analysis of nasal obstructions.
Department of Brain and Nerve Surgery
The department offers services toward Neurovascular surgery, skull
base tumors surgery, vertebral injuries and also shunt and spinal
dysraphism operations in pediatric patient, Spasticity and Trigeminal
Neuralgia as well as Epilepsy surgery.
Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology
The department is specialized in inpatient or outpatient diagnosis and
treatment of Adult Orthopedics, Pediatric (children) Orthopedics, Spinal
Surgey (shoulder, elbow, wrist , hip, knee and ankle), Hand Surgery
(any kind of hand disease and traumas, sewing the finger ruptures),
Joint Prosthesis Surgery (shoulder, hip, knee) , Foot and Ankle surgery,
Diabetics Foot, Bone and Soft Tissue Tumors (malign and bening bone
and soft tissue tumors, bone metastasis of cancer).
Department of İnternal Disease- Gastroenterology Section
The department of Gastroenterology of the Faculty of Medicine of
Akdeniz University offers diagnosis and treatment of gastroenterology
system disease (esophagus stomach, small-large intestine), liver
diseases, viral hepatitis, pancreas diseases, gall bladder and bile tract
diseases. The fundamental principle of Gastroenterology Department
is to enable the patients to benefit from the most effective treatment
methods in gastrointestinal and liver diseases in company with the
national and international scientific and clinical researches. For this
purpose, 5 experienced faculty members are delivering services in this
department. The department is one of the most important centers in
respect of liver transplantation as well as diagnostic and therapeutic
endoscopic retrograde colangio-pancreatography areas. We are
delivering services with our 40 beds in compliance with the modern
standards in our gastroenterology clinic. There are five endoscopy unitsfour of which are diagnostic and one is therapeutic- one pH meter unit
and one ultrasonography unit in Gastroenterology Department. There
are approximately 14.000 upper and lower gastrointestinal diagnostic
and therapeutic endoscopy, 9.000 diagnostic ultrasonography and
900 diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic retrograde colangiopancreatography applications. Patients are anesthetized in all
endoscopic operations. The motility and endosonography units will
also be launched very soon in our clinic.

built in 130 AD in honour of the
Roman Emperor Hadrian. As the city
walls eventually anclosed the outer
part of the gate, the entrance was
left unused for many years, which is
why it remains erect. There are three
round arched opening for entry in
the two storey structure. It is made of

Morbit Obesty and Surgical Treatment
The only effective method for the long term treatment of morbid
obesity, whose cause hasn’t been completely revealed yet, is
surgery in addition to therapeutic approaches such as low calorie
diets, medicines, behavioural changes and exercise treatment. The
operations that are performed in our department on morbid obesity
are as follows: vertical belt gastrolasty, gastric banding
(adjustable and non-adjustable), sleeve Gastrectomy (tube
stomach), Roux-en-Y- gastric bypass and malabsorption procedures
(biliopancreatic diversion, duedonal switch). All of these techniques
can be applied by laparoscopic approach. In case of laparoscopic
gastric belt, on the other hand, 1 cm belt or stripe is placed on the
highest part of the stomach. In this way, a small sack is formed and
a stabile outlet is provided to the lower stomach. The outlet leading
to the stomach is norrowed down with the adjustable belt that was
approved by FDA in June 2001 and thus the food is restricted from
leaving the sack. In sleeve Gastrectomy (tube stomach) operation,
2/3 of the stomach is deactivated and resected from the body.
Consequently, this is an unrecoverable operation since a certain part
of the stomach is resected. From then on, the patient has to sustain
his/her life with a stomach of 80-100 milliliter volume. In case of
gastric bypass procedure, stomach is divided and small gastric sack
is formed. The new gastric sack is connected to small intestine in
Y shape in varying lengths. Malabsroption operations help losing
weight by reducing the absorption of calorie from intestines. In such
operations, stomach size is reduced and majorty of intestines are
bypassed. The selection among the surgical operative procedures
will depend on the body mass index of the patient, coexisting
diseases (COPD, Heart Failure, Diabetics), preference of the surgeon

Having been offering various services for the last 15 years in the
diagnosis and treatment of infertility under the Department of
Obstetrics and Gynecology, the center is the first in-vitro fertilization
center of Mediterranean and Southern Anatolia region of Turkey. The
center has been active under the responsibility of the experienced
faculty member that obtained pregnancy with in-vitro fertilization
treatment in world’s first uterus transplantation.
Conventional in-vitro fertilization and microinjection applications,
assisted hatching, embryo and oocyte vitrification, sperm and testicular
tissue freezeing, intra uterine insemination and all gynecologic and
urologic surgery operations are successfully performed in this center
making it quite prominent with the achievements in recent years. The
center is accredited with American Collage of Embryology and the
first in-vitro fertilization laboratory of the center is managed by the
laboratory team that has received the senior clinical embryologist
authority from ESHRE
(European Society Of Human Reproduction and Embryology). The
center uses the products that have passed the embryo quality tests in all
steps for the in-vitro fertilization. As one of the pioneers of freezing the
testicular tissue in order to protect from the damages of chemotherapy
and then transplanting them to the mother after thawing when the
treatment is over, the center delivers high quality services in its newly
renovated freezing-thrawing laboratory.

Antalya Province 112 Ambulance Service started to serve with 7
Ambulances and 72 personnel in 1996 within Antalya Province Health
Directorate. The emergence call system chanced from December 2009
and all emergency calls are responded within one single mark, official
number of 112. Medical service, police, gendarmarie, coast guard, fire
brigade, forest service and Management of Emergengency and Disaster
Authorities(AFAD) are involved in 112 call system. As of 2014, Antalya Province 112 Ambulance Service serving with 718

The Antalya State Symphony Orchestra, which also serves as

Aspendos Theatre
The Aspendos Theatre, praised by the famous travellers cited above, amongst
others, in one of the most magnificent and well- preserved buildings in the World,
and it is the best surviving example of the theatre built by the Romans is Asia
and Africa. According to its inscription, it was built during the region of Roman
Emperor Marcus Aurelius (161-180) by the architect Zeno, son of Theodoros. The
scene building, stone paved orchestra, and the cavea with a seating capacity of
approximately 15-20,000 spectators are the main components of the theatre. The
top of cavea was lined with an arched portico. The building is one of the pinnacles
of ancient architecture, and it has an excellent plan and superb acoustics. The
building has an introverted appearance, an even the slightest tune touched in the
orchestra can be heard loud and clear in every part of the cavea, even in the upper
galleries. That feature found its way into the legend of the building of the theatre:
of the king. One of them had built an aqueduct that brought water to the city from
far away, and the other had built a magnificent theatre for city. The king first thought
to give his doughter’s hand to the man who had built the aqueducts. However,
his doughter who most probably fell in love with the other man, asked his father
to visit the theatre once more before making up his mind. Father and doughter
went together to the theatre, and climbed to the upper gallery. At the same time
the architect was pacing the orchestra, oblivious to the presence, hands clasped
behind his back and head bowed, while murmuring to himself, “ The doughter of
the king must be mine”. Despite his very low voice his words were clearly heard by
the king, who was so impressed by the fantastic acoustics of the theatre that have
gave the hand of his doughter to the architect. The couple’s marriage ceremony
was also held in theatre.
Once upon a time the king of the region decided to give his doughter as a bride to
the citizen who had done the most benefical deed for he country. Many asked for
the princess’hand in marriage, but only two of them passed the discerning criteria
At present the theatre is the venue of the annuel “Aspendos International Opera
and Ballet Festival”. There is not much more that can be said about the Aspendos
Theatre. It is a magnificent building unlike anything you have seen before.
