Large and massive limestone formation, underlain by reddish shale.
Color and texture is seen to change according to the inclined bedding.
Presence of highly fractured zones, micro-cracks, and of spots with high concentration of white
calcite veins

Inclined bedding of the limestone visible on a cut surface
COMMERCIAL VALUE:
Most of the grey stone varieties found in this site can be considered as of medium
commercial value in the world stone market. Beige marble and “breccias” could reach
higher interest in the world market than grey variety. For its relatively low commercial value
with respect to other stone varieties, the grey limestone could reach high interest in the
market if produced in large quantities.

VARIATIONS/DEFECTS:
This limestone changes in colour and in pattern quite frequently; however large areas where
the limestone has uniform characteristics can be found. The selection and the classification
by variety of the blocks extracted from this area are indispensable for both the marketing
and for the processing purposes.

1. Prospecting and exploration on a detailed topographic map as a basis
1.1 - Surface sampling on 50 m spacing grid basis all over the area, to check color and texture
on the surface
1.2 - Core drilling 30-40 m in depth on most interesting spots, based on results of 1.1
1.3 – Geologic mapping, geologic cross-section and projections of results of 1.1 and 1.2
1.4 – Deposit assessment and estimate of reserves of each stone variety found

2. Market investigation of most important stone varieties found; hypotheses on F.O.B sale
price of blocks of each stone variety; if sale price results to be relatively low, large
quantities of blocks should be produced to compensate the operational cost, and the
transport cost of the blocks to F.O.B.
