Temiz Nehirler" konulu karikatür sergisinde, Eray Özbek,
Ekrem Borazan, Mehmet Kahraman, Muammer Kotbaþ, Cem
Koç, Aþkýn Ayrancýoðlu, Mustafa Yýldýz, Engin Selçuk, Murat
Ýlhan, Hakan Sümer, I.Serdar Sayar, Ýsmail Kar, Sönmez
Yanardað, Sezer Odabaþýoðlu ve Coþkun Göle'nin toplam

ÝZMÝR'DEN KARÝKATÜRLÜ HABERLER
MUSTAFA YILDIZ
Kulesi'nin ortaklaþa düzenlediði "5 Haziran Mizah Günleri"
etkinliklerinde, "Çöpe - Çevre" isimli karikatür sergisinin yaný
sýra 39 çizerin eserlerinin yer aldýðý "Küresel Isýnýyoruz" ismli
ikinci bir karikatür sergisi de gerçekleþtirildi.
"Saat Kulesi" olarak düzenlediðimiz sergilerin kalýcý olmasý
için o sergilerin albümlerini de yayýnlýyoruz. "Çöpe - Çevre"
karikatür sergisi de Karabaðlar Belediyesi tarafýndan albüm
haline getiriliyor.
"Çöpe - Çevre" karikatür sergisi Ýzmir ile sýnýrlý kalmayacak.
Baþta Ýstanbul olmak üzere yýl boyunca Türkiye'yi dolaþacak.

ULUSLARARASI NASREDDÝN HOCA ÞENLÝÐÝ
DANIÞMA KURULU TOPLANTISI YAPILDI
1959 yýlýndan bu yana Akþehir'de düzenlenen "Uluslararasý
Nasreddin Hoca Þenliði" danýþma kurulu toplantýsý 6- 7
Mayýs'ta Akþehir'de gerçekleþtirildi. Danýþma kurulu
toplantýsýna katýlanlar arasýnda Canol Kocagöz, Ergin Gülen,
Atay Sözer, Mustafa Yýldýz, Lütfü Çakýn ve Özhan Mercan da
vardý.
Temmuz ayýnda yapýlacak olan þenlikte, Homur ve Saat
Kulesi Karikatürcüler Grubu bir çok etkinlik
gerçekleþtirecekler.

ÝZMÝRLÝ ÇOCUKLAR KARÝKATÜRÜ
ÇOK SEVÝYOR
Saat Kulesi Karikatürcüler Grubu okullarda baþlattýðý
karikatür derslerine devam ediyor. Geçtiðimiz ay içerisinde
"Tahir Merzeci Ýlk Öðretim Okulu"nda etkinlik gerçekleþtiren
Saat Kulesi Karikatürcüler Grubu üyelerinden Mustafa Yýldýz
ve Özhan Mercan iki saat boyunca çocuklara keyifli anlar
yaþattýlar. Her okulda olduðu gibi çocuklarýn baþarýlý çizgileri
ve esprileri, karikatürü çok sevdiklerinin kanýtýydý. Yakýn bir
zamanda çocuk ve gençlerle yeni hamlelere hazýrlanan Saat
Kulesi, Ýzmir'de karikatürcü ordusu yetiþtirmeye kararlý!

MORDOÐAN ÞENLÝKLERÝNDE
KARÝKATÜR SERGÝSÝ
Bu yýl altýncýsý yapýlan Mordoðan Denizle Buluþma
Þenlikleri "Deniz Sizi Çaðýrýyor" sloganýyla baþladý! Her yýl
olduðu gibi Saat Kulesi Karikatürcüler Grubu karikatür sergisi
ile yer aldý. "40 x 50" Eðitim Karikatürleri" sergisinin açýlýþýný
Mordoðan Belediye Baþkaný Ahmet Çakýr yaptý.

Homur Mizah ve Karikatür Grubunun düzenlediði "Tekelin
Sesi Var" karikatür sergisi 25 Mayýs - 1 Haziran tarihlerinde
DÝSK/ BANK-SEN Genel Merkezinde gerçekleþtirildi.
n "ÇEVRE" KARÝKATÜRLERÝ SERGÝSÝ
Saat Kulesi Karikatürcüler Grubunun hazýrladýðý, çevre
karikatürlerinden oluþan "Çöpe - Çevre" isimli karikatür sergisi
5 Haziran "Dünya Çevre Günü"nde açýldý.
Ýzmir'in yeni ilçelerinden Karabaðlar Belediyesi ve Saat
n BANDIRMA' DA KARÝKATÜR ETKÝNLÝKLER
Bandýrma Ýlçe Milli Eðitim Müdürlüðü Kültür ve Sanat
Þenlikleri'nde Saat Kulesi Karikatürcüler Gurubu üyelerinin
"Nasrettin Hoca'' isimli karikatür sergisi 25 - 28 Mayýs
tarihlerinde gerçekleþtirildi.
n 3 GÜNDE USTA KARÝKATÜRÝST OLDULAR
(Akhisar DHA - Haldun Akyüz) 551. Akhisar Çaðlak
Festivali ve Zeytin Þenlikleri programý içinde yer alan
Karikatür Atölye çalýþmasýna katýlan öðrenciler üç gün içinde
karikatürcü oldular. Atölye çalýþanlarýn 32 karikatürü bir hafta
boyunca sergilenecek.
Ýzmir Saat Kulesi Karikatür gurubundan Mustafa Yýldýz,
Sadýk Pala ve Özhan Mercan, Akhisar Belediye Sanat
Galerisinde yaþ sýnýrý olmadan atölye çalýþmasýna üç gün
süreyle katýlan 40 kiþiye karikatür çizme tekniklerini anlattýlar.
Bir hafta boyunca açýk kalan 551. Çaðlak Festivali ve
Zeytin Þenlikleri kapsamýnda "Zeytin ve Kentim" Karikatür
Sergisinin açýlýþýný Akhisar Belediye Baþkan Yardýmcýsý Ömer
Ýþçi yaptý. Ömer Ýþçi, "festivalimiz programý içinde bulunan
þehrimizin en önemli ürünü olan "Zeytin"i konu seçerek,
"Zeytin ve Kentim" adý altýnda, Saat Kulesi Karikatür Gurubu
elamanlarý Mustafa Yýldýz, Sadýk Pala ve Özhan Mercan'ýn
katkýlarý ile çok güzel karikatürler ortaya çýktý. Herkese
katkýlarýndan dolayý çok teþekkür ediyoruz." dedi.
Ömer Ýþçi gurup baþkaný Mustafa Yýldýz'a özel hazýrlanmýþ
bir þilt verdi. Sergi açýlýþýndaki kokteylde karikatür Atölyesine
katýlanlara katýlým belgeleri de verildi.
n "EÐÝTÝM KARÝKATÜRLERÝ" SERGÝSÝ
Ýzmir'in þirin ilçelerinden Kemalpaþa'da yapýlan 40. Altýn
Kiraz Festivali "Kültür, Kitap ve Sanat Günleri"nde "40x50=
Eðitim" isimli karikatür sergisi de yer aldý. Festival süresince
Birol Çün, Hande Dilek Akçam portre karikatürler çizerlerken,
Eray Özbek, Murteza Albayrak ve Mustafa Yýldýz atölye
çalýþmalarýna katýldýlar.

Cumhuriyeti: Yarý Yarýya" isimli karikatur
sergisini düzenlemelerinin nedenini,
Kýbrýs'taki siyasi olaylara karikatür
sanatý ile yaptýðý katkýlar nedeniyle
Petros Papapetru'yu onurlandýrmak"
amacýný taþýdýklarýný açýkladý.
Petros Papapetrou (PIN), Nisan
1957 yýlýnda Lefkoþa'da doðdu.
Karikatür çizmeye, 1974 yýlýnda,
"Satirigi" isimli mizah dergisinde
baþladý.
1987 yýlýndan bu güne Kýbrýs'ýn en
yüksek tirajlý günlük gazetesi olan
"Filelefteros" gazetesinde baþ
karikatürcü olarak günlük karikatürler
çizmektedir.
Karikatürleri ve çizimleri birçok
resimli
kitaplarda,
eðitim
seminerlerinde, kartpostallarda,
televizyon þovlarýnda ve seçim
kampanyalarýnda yer almýþtýr.
Kýbrýs'ta ve çeþitli ülkelerde birçok
karma karikatür sergilerine katýlmýþtýr.
Kýbrýs'taki çeþitli kurumlar tarafýndan
verilen ödülleri vardýr. 2003 ve 2010
yýlýnda iki kiþisel karikatür albümü
yayýnlamýþtýr.

Miodrag Velickovic Mivel was a
modest man of sharp mind and pen,
a great talent. It's always supported
everything related to the strip in
Leskovac, not just words, but deeds.
His premature departure of Leskovac,

some days ago: her house was on fire and
the most of her furnishings burnt on. Also
her big collection of cartoon-books,

dean of the University of Buenos Aires to
form a Cartoon-Museum.

Anadolu Üniversitesi Eðitim Karikatürleri Müzesi'nin
arþivinden alýnan 15 Türk sanatçýnýn 55 karikatürü Gabrovo
(Museum House of Humour and Satire) Mizah ve Hiciv Evi
Müzesi'nde 15 Mayýs'ta açýldý.
Gürbüz Doðan Ekþioðlu, Atila Özer, Sait Munzur, Tan Oral,
Fethi Develioðlu, Ali Ulvi Ersoy (1924-1998), Eray Özbek,
Þadi Dinççað (1919-1983), Hikmet Cerrah, Musa Gümüþ,
Turhan Selçuk (1922-2010), Nezih Danyal, Semih Balcýoðlu
(1928-2006), Semih Poroy ve Beytullah Heper'in
karikatürlerinden oluþan sergi daha önce Eskiþehir'de Eðitim
Karikatürleri Müzesi'nde açýlan "Bulgaristan Karikatürleri
Sergisi"nin karþýlýðý olarak düzenlendi.
Bulgaristan'ýn mizah merkezi Gabrovo'nun kuruluþunun
150. yýlýnda sergi açma teklifi alan Anadolu Üniversitesi
Eðitim Karikatürleri Müzesi Müdürü Prof. Atila Özer;
Müzemizde önemli bir arþiv oluþtu.Hem yurt içinde hem de
yurt dýþýnda Türk karikatürünü tanýtmak, müzemizi tanýtmak
için faaliyetlerimize devam edeceðiz" dedi.
Karikatür sergisi 31 Aðustos 2010 tarihine kadar
izlenebilecek.

Akçiçek Kültür Merkezi'nde, engellilerin sorunlarýnýn
duyurulmasýna yönelik "Açýk Mikrofon" isimli etkinlik
kapsamýnda gerçekleþtirildi.
Sergi açýlýþýnda Abidin Köse, Ayten Köse, Birol Çün,
Cemalettin Güzeloðlu, Sadýk Öztürk ve Turan Ýyigün
isimli katýlýmcý çizerler de hazýr bulundu.

FAMOUS CARTOONIST
VLADO JOCIC DEAD
This report by Jordan Pop-Iliev (Republic of
Macedonia) The famous Macedonian cartoonist Vlado Jocic
died on May 14, 2010 in Skopje. Jocic was born in 1939 in
Pozarevac. His first cartoon was published in 1958.
In 1966 together with Slavko Janevski, Tzvetan
Stanoevski, Bosko Markovic, and Darko Smakjovski, he was
one of the founders of humor magazine "Osten" and the
World galleries of cartoon and drawing in Skopje.
Vlado Jocic cartoons have been published around the
world: Canada, USSR, Poland, Turkey, Greece, Italy,
Switzerland, Germany, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Czech
Republic, Slovakia, Belgium, Netherlands, Mongolia,
Argentina, Australia and all ex-Yu-republics.
He won 22 international awards for caricature in the
country and abroad, as well as reports from the Association
of Journalists of Macedonia.
He published a book with sketches & illustrations. He was
Director of the World Gallery in Skopje and the cartoon editorin-chief of "Osten", a great organizer and teacher of young
cartoonists and a great friend.

Ferit Öngören 1932 yýlýnda
Diyarbakýr'da doðdu.
1958'de Istanbul Üniversitesi Hukuk
Fakültesini bitirdi. Üniversite yýllarýnda
Babýâli’ye girdi.Bir yandan mizah
dergilerinde karikatür çiziyor, öte
yandan genç edebiyatçý arkadaþlarýyla
birlikte dergiler yayýmlýyordu. Asýl
mesleði avukatlýk olmasýna raðmen
daha çok karikatür ve resim ile
ilgilenmiþ olup mizah ve karikatür
üzerine araþtýrmalarý vardýr.
"Cumhuriyet'in 75. yýlýnda Türk
Mizahý ve Hicvi" isimli kitabý bu
konudaki en önemli eseridir.
1955’de Onat Kutlar, Ülkü Tamer,
Doðan Hýzlan, Kemal Özer, Adnan
Özyalçýner’in de dahil olduðu ünlü “A”
dergisini çýkardýlar. Daha sonra “A"
Dergisi Kuþaðý” olarak anýlacak olan
bu genç yazar topluluðu, bugünkü
modern edebiyat Türkçesini
yaratmada önemli bir iþlev gördü.
"Filiz", "Yelken", "Köprü", "Ataç",
"Deðiþim", "Þiir Sanatý", "Yeni A" gibi
dergilerde yazdý. 1966 da Lastik-is
Sendikasýnýn yayýn organý Lastik-Iþ'i
çýkardý.
1969 yýlýnda Turhan Selçuk ve
Semih Balcýoðlu ile birlikte
Karikatürcüler Derneði kurulmasýna
öncülük etti.
Ýlk çaðlardan günümüze deðin
Anadolu Þiirinin evrimini inceleyen
araþtýrmasýný Soyut dergisinde
yayýnlandý.
Cumhuriyet Dönemi Türk Mizahý'nýn
50 Yýlý (1973) ve 75 (1998) Yýlý adlý
eserleri Ýþ Bankasý Yayýnlarý'ndan çýktý.
Ferit Öngören, "Akbaba", "Dolmuþ",
"Tef", "Gýr Gýr" gibi mizah dergiciliði
tarihinde önemli yeri olan pek çok
dergide eserlerini yayýnladý.
"Vatan", "Akþam", "Günaydýn",
"Gün", "Sabah", "Bugün", "Meydan"
gibi gazetelerde yazdý. Semih
Balcýoðlu ve Turhan Selçuk ile
Karikatürcüler Derneði'ni kurduktan
sonra Karikatür Müzesi'nin kurulmasý
ve Uluslararasý Nasreddin Hoca
Karikatür Yarýþmasý'nýn baþlamasýnda
da önemli pay sahibiydi.
1970 öncesi “espri”den yola
çýkýlarak kurulan karikatürü terk edip,
1960’lardan beri sürdürdüðü
“Ýstanbul”konulu büyük projesi için
çalýþtý.
1990’larda basýndaki köþe
yazarlýðýna da son verdi. Kendini
bütünüyle “Ýstanbul” çizimlerine verdi
ve projeyi sonuçlanmýþ sayýlabilecek
ölçüde tamamlayabildi: “Panaromik
Ýstanbul” (3m x 70cm) ve 120 parçalýk
(42cm x 60cm) “Semt semt Ýstanbul”,
benzersiz çizgi ve biçemiyle görkemli
bir Ýstanbul dünyasýný sanat tarihine
kazýmayý baþarabildi.
Ferit Öngören'in Ýstanbul çizgilerini
içeren "Neseneler /Objekts" isimli
albümü Karikatür Vakfý tarafýndan;
"Çizgilerle Haliç'te Gezinti" isimli
albümü ise "Schneidertempel Sanat
Merkezi" tarafýndan yayýnlandý.
Karikatürcüler Derneði'nin eski
baþkanlarýndan olan Ferit Öngören, 7

I was "awarded" the 1st Prize at the Yilmaz Güney
Kültür Festivali - Karikatür Yarýþmasý 2008 (Turkey).
Award ceremony was held on the 27th January 2008
in Ankara but until today (27.10.2009) I have not
received the "1st Prize", that was 21 months ago.
My advice to all is: Do Not Participate on this Turkish
cartoon festival and this event must be Black Listed.

Mizah ortaklýðýyla Türkiye'yi gezecek olan serginin ilk duraðý
Ýstanbul Cadde Bostan Kültür Merkezi.
Tekel Ýþçilerinin göstermiþ olduðu mücadeleye
karikatüristler kayýtsýz kalmayarak çizgileriyle destek olmaya
çalýþtýlar. Sergide, Semih Poroy, Mustafa Bilgin, Firuz Kutal,
Atilla Atalay, Oðuz Gürel, Akdað Saydut, Birol Çün, Vahit
Akça, Recep Bayramoðlu, Ýsmail Doðan, Mehmet Kahraman,
Hasan Efe, Hüseyin Soylu, Emre Yýlmaz, Deniz Dokgöz,
Feridun Demir, Mert Gürkan, Uður Pamuk, Erdem Çolak,

December 5 was without effect taking the money was
returned to the World Press Cartoon January 8 by the IBAN
is not correct. " IBAN who sent us is not your friend's
account but the Citibank from Colombia

It is always better to understand what really happened
that shoot first and ask later.

FOR NOT HAPPEN LIKE MY IF YOU WIN A PRIZE in
WPC.
Atunes Antonio (AA) said that he deposited my money,
but I refuse it sending a copy of his message where he
said that the deposit had been rejected by Citibank. After
that, I hope that Mr AA show the receipt of a new deposit
with stamp of the Bank. But no. (I confess that sometimes
I thought that AA being deceived by his comissioned of
finances; I kept some hope in his honesty. But now I doubt).

Dear Colleague Cakmak:
Mr. Antonio Antunes (AA) from world press cartoon says
that my prize money was deposited in the account of my
friend, but he do not say that the deposit was rejected by
Citibank and the money returned to WPC. He said to me in
a message (copy attached) But he does not say it to the
cartoonists around the world.
Why he silence it?
If he had deposited the money, could save many words
of their long messages, sending a copy of the deposit receipt
with the stamp of Citibank
Why not send it? Simply because the copy of the deposit
does not exist.
And not exist because WPC probably never made the
deposit as it should.
We reviewed here in Colombia the bank account, and
no deposit WPC.
We will request a written certification from the Citibank,
which will also create other diligences.
PS: In a part of his message AA said that the Camara
Municipal de Sintra pays the flight to Portugal for the winning
participants. So why he seeks the discounted value of my
money? I think this is not honest. In the regulation it is not
the discount fort the unrealized flight.
Then translation of the message from AA (16/02/08)
where he announced me that Citibank returned his money
deposited. And below, a true copy of the original message
in Portuguese.

NEW RUSE FOR NOT PAY:
Now Mr. AA is looking for otherwise dishonest of do not
pay, he attempt to discredit me and probably send you a
message saying that my winning caricature appear not
signed on the newspaper, but are signed in the original. If
this is not acceptable to wpc, why he accepted my entry in
the contest?
But the most false: he intends to say that I am not the
author of my caricature, which it is an fraud!!
unprecedented!. MY REASSONS: On the newspaper is
the name of another colleague, but not in the caricature,
but at the top part in block letters placed by the designer
of the page. Each edition of this newspaper publish a
cartoon by a different author. In this case the page designer
forgot to put my name and left the text: "By Morro", the
author of the cartoon published in the previous edition. If
you look carefully you will see that between this text and
the edge of the cartoon there are a space (3 cm aprox ) ...
because the caricature of the previous edition had more
height.
I believe that the only fraud in this case is not to pay the
prize to the winner.
Morro, the colleague whose name appears above of
my caricature on the newspaper, wrote me about the
request for AA to say that I had committed a fraud. He
reply recognicing my authorship. (I have a copy of his
message).
2 RECOMMENDS
1) If you win a prize in the WPC, travel to Portugal,
because there they will have to pay and do not make
discounts by delivery of the book and the trophy. In my
case they exploited that from abroad I can not put pressure
on them to pay me. And intends to make discounts that do
not are on the wpc rules.
2) If you can not travel, do not sign any receipt before
receiving your prize money. I committed this mistake.

22. TOLENTINO HUMOUR BIENNIAL CARTOON ALBUME
RIDERE. SORRIDERE. PENSARE.
Due anni fa, su queste stesse pagine, avevo seritto una
lettera d'amore alla "mia" Tolentino. Una lettera che avesse il
significato di sincera riconoscenza da parte di tutto il mondo
della "civilta del sorriso" ai quarant'anni di appassionato
impegno e di meritoria attivita culturale, iniziata nel 1961 in
questa piccola grande citta dall'indimenticato fondatore Luigi
Mari, e laboriosamente proseguita dai suoi successori.
Sembra niente, ma in "appena" due anni, da quel
quarantesimo genetliaco della Rassegna d'Arte umoristica piu
antica e piu prestigiosa del mondo, sul nostro amato pianeta
sono successe molte cose importanti. E molto serie. Cosi serie,
che sale la voglia di chiedersi: a che serve una Biennale
dell'Umorismo?
Come si puo ridere o sorridere della guerra, del terrorismo,
del razzismo, del crescente degrado ambientale e sociale,
dell'Aids odella Sars, o della prostrazione di popoli costretti a
tagliare le proprie radici, migrando verso un futuro meno
disperante?
Poi, come in ogni edizione, alla Biennale di Tolentino
cominciano ad arrivare le opere illuminanti, emozionanti,
vivificanti degli Umoristi.
Da tutti i Paesi del mondo.
Da Oriente e da Occidente, dal Nord piu ricco come dal Sud
piu povero, uomini e don ne di razze, culture e religioni diverse,
ci regalano tutti la stessa speranza e iniezione di ottimismo. Ed
e sempre una scoperta, una un'occasione preziosa di
arricchimento mentale e sentimentale.
Perche questi signori - che sono Artisti, certo, ma anche e
soprattutto persone che come noi vivono e osservano la
eronaca e la storia - cogliendo e proponendo attraverso le loro
immagini I'essenza e i significati piu profondi della realta che ci
circonda, ci invitano non semplicemente a ridere o a sorridere,
ma soprattutto a capire, a riflettere, a costruire, ad amare. Cosi
e stato anche quest'anno, soprattutto quest'anno, al quale
avevamo voluto dedicare un tema sociale ed epocale "Migrazioni" - oggi di drammatica attualita.
L'Umorismo diventa quindi pensiero ed energia.
Partecipazione, denuncia, informazione e formazione delle
nostre coscienze, risveglio del nostro spirito critico. Virtu
insospettabili, si direbbe. Ma che perfino la scienza moderna ed in particolare la medicina, con I'ormai diffusa "terapia del
sorriso" - riconoscono da molto tempo.
E non e un caso che il celebre medico statunitense Patch
Adams, che Tolentino ha avuto I'onore di ospitare nella
primavera dello scorso anno, abbia voluto soffermarsi
lungamente ad osservare e considerare ad una ad una le
centinaia di opere esposte nel nostro Museo della Caricatura.
Ridendo, sorridendo, pensando.
Riso, sorriso e ironia diventano cosI gioco e sopresa,
conoscenza e consapevolezza, bagaglio complementare e
benefico alla nostra cultura e alla nostra civilta, ai nostri sogni
e ai nostri bisogni.
A queste straordinarie e salutari risorse della nostra
intelligenza la Biennale di Tolentino rivolge da sempre la sua
azione, richiamando in uno stimolante incontro-confronto i
Maestri delle piu titolate "scuole" internazionali dei cinque
continenti. Un significativo merito culturale che va
doverosamente ascritto agli Amministratori - vecchi e nuovi di questa Citta, e alle molte persone che hanno proseguito con
competenza e passione la lungimirante opera di Luigi Mari.
Per quattro mesi, dal 12 luglio alla prima settimana di
novembre, Tolentino torna ad essere la Capitale mondiale del
Sorriso: una vocazione e un primata che le derivano dalla sua
attiva responsabilita professionale e sociale, custode del
patrimonio storico dell Arte ma anche innovativa e propositiva,
come ben esprime, mi sembra, il motto che fin dal mio primo
impegno di Direttore artistico ho voluto che accompagnasse
tutti i Cataloghi ufficiali della nostra manifestazione: "la Biennale
e un albero antico che mette sempre foglie nuove".
Quest'anno, peraltro, le gallerie di Palazzo Sangallo ospitano
la speciale rassegna umoristica d'autore "Sorridendo nei secoli",
interamente dedicata ai Carabinieri, e organizzata in diretta
collaborazione con il Comando Generale dell'Arma.
Un ulteriore motivo artistico-culturale (e per alcuni aspetti
anche "storico"), che denota i piu alti valori di qualificata e
qualificante autorevolezza raggiunti dalla Biennale tolentinate,
e che assume il significato di autentico riconoscimento al
costante impegno della Citta alla promozione e valorizzazione
della "civilta del sorriso".
Forse non ha neanche senso chiedersi a che cosa puo servire
una Biennale dell'Umorismo. Forse sarebbe come chiedersi a
che serve una scuola, una biblioteca, o la musica, la poesia, la
filosofia, e perfino un tramonto sul mare. Forse la risposta e in
un breve e lunghissimo istante di riflessivo silenzio. Come
nell'atteggiamento soddisfatto e sereno di quel visitatore
americano, il signor Patch Adams, che di fronte aýle opere del
nostro Museo della Caricatura e rimasto lungamente aridere, a
sorridere, a pensare.

THE WINDOW
THE EYE OF BUILDING
We addressed the world community of
cartoonists with this, in some sort poetic
theme this year. With a knowledge, that
there is no need for explanation, because
the international competition of the best
cartoons with the building themes has
aýready entered the 7th year of existence.
"Personal observers" recollect that we
already competed with the theme "The
brick", "The wood", "The roof" and so on.
This year there debouch "The windows"
to us. First from the envelopes (finally 146
pieces) to the secretary of jury and
afterwards from cases exempted, peeped
and wriUen out (exactly on 301 quarto
papers), burgeoned out on tables and
chairs of the hall in which the classification
of professional jury took place. Wherewith
less was the jury international last year,
the more was international this year - we
invited for decision making two Slovakian
cartoonists at once (from Bratislava and
Presoy). International was not only for
windows but also for the view out of
windows and windows by themselves the authors of cartoons were from 35
different countries this year. We impute
with a pleasure two novices to the chart
of all participants (Estonia and Malaysia).
However the long-term chart is without
changes on the top: to the dominating
participation from Czech and second
Poland there follows through Turkey to
third Slovakia and to the next countries
sequence in the long-term chart of our
competition Russia and Serbia there mn
close Iran from the back... The Middle
Eats press on Europe even in the field of
cartoons. ..
The windows are fortunately very
international - if you wish "multi-cultural"
matter. Windows in the first form, the
material form, can be different by the
shape, style or placing - but their function
stays stili the same. Window is an
important space in the house, which
serves mainly for the through view no
matter if inside or outside, for people or
to the nature during the day, to the moon
in night for instance and also as the hole
for the light and sometimes for the air. And
in the symbolic level? The healthyair and
bright light are very indispensable for
human and that is why it is not possible
to be surprised that cartoonists dedicated
to this year' s theme their art skills but
also switched their brain scrolls to a
higher frequence. Therefore to some of
them the remarkable ideas which
absolutely bewitched the jury sparked.

LAUGHING AT ONESELF AND AT THE MAN WITH
THE 24TH INTERNATIONAL BIENNIAL OF ART
HUMOUR AND WITH THE SMILING CULTURE
"Blessed is he who can smile at himself; he will never be
short of things to say" In a way this aphorism contains both the
history and perhaps even the philosophy of our International
Festival of Humour in Art.
After making operational changes two years ago, this 24th
festival, under the enthusiastic guidance and infinite creativity
of the Artistic Director Lorenzo Marini, confirms that we have
embarked upon a new path, taking with us many artists and
fans of this field. For staying with us, I would like to thank the
680 artists from 64 different nations who accepted the challenge
by participating in our festival with 1,472 pieces of work - which
include the exciting new photographic section. I am certain that
the theme of the 2007 festival is as intriguing as it is amusing.
Using the theme, the pieces selected for the show give us a
sense of the many inner struggles and social mores that have,
in recent years, transformed the male. As so often occurs in
the Biennale, these se/f same works have the ability to put us
back in contact with the most profound and vital reality - that of
being human. Every single humorous depiction or sculpture
that has been exhibited or reproduced in the catalogue
demonstrates, beyond the artistic features and techniques used,
that there exists a much more profound reality laced with
subtexts and energy above that which appears superficially it
is the old adage that "opposites attract" that unites these illusory
masks to the reality of human nature. lt is down to me to thank
those who, in their various roles, have contributed to the success
and continued growth of our Biennale.
I would like to express our gratitude to the public bodies and
private companies that support us by lending their prestigious
names to our smile. The omens are that this latest Biennale will
again be taken on tour - as it was previously to Catania and
Ravenna - to other Italian cities and perhaps abroad too. lt is
amazing to think that people have thousands of extremely
complex ways of expressing themselves in order to
communicate their thoughts, but whether European, Indian,
American, African, Chinese or Arab we express joy in exactly
in the same way and for similar reasons; united by the universal
language of the Culture of the Smile.
I conclude by welcoming, on behalf of the city everyone who,
yet again, shows their appreciation and pleasure by visiting the
three exhibition venues: the historic Castella della Rancia, the
unique and original Museum of Caricature and its near
neighbour the restored Palazzo Parisani Bezzi. The visitor will
have the means to sample the surprises and the works of the
Biennale and at the same time explore our most cherished

A smile does not last more than an instant, but in the memory
it can be eternal. It is upbeat and cheerful - real music for the

Over the years political cartoons have
been a seemly wav of following up what
is going on in the political, economic and
social ife, with a substantive, important
and effective intervention. It has the
power of addressing it self and of
touching, be understood and be accepted
by a wide range of people, those who are
not special analysts and "officials", but of
people who constitute an integral part of
the operation of society.
Cartoonists, as a special category of
artists, record historic moments, judge,
criticize, approve or disapprove, bring to
light the substance of an issue and feel
the wounds like a doubting Thomas, in
order to preserve through the years the
course of people as social entities.
Political cartoons is par excellence a
political practice, as it deals with all those
things that concern or occupy or influence
big or small groups of people, which are
in a parallel course and many times run
ahead and precede political events. They
deal with issues that are produced,
reproduced, shaped and apply in human
societies a result of the more general
philosophy prevailing at a given time and
affecting decisively life itself in all its
manifestations.
Expressing themselves through humor
and merry disposition, which many times
constitute an oxymoron, as they mav refer
to tragic events and difficult situations,
political cartoons are not an invention of
our age. On the contrary, they are a
method of socio-political control
developed through the centuries and are
an inseparable part of the democratic
system of govemment, allowing people
to express the voice of their
consciousness.
In Cyprus there has never been a
dearth of sensitive people who undertook
to strike a sensitive chord nor a rich
variety of issues, as they were shaped
though the long and turbulent history of
the island.
In the exhibition "Politics and
Caricature 1960-2000" of the House of
Representatives and in the present
publication which accompanies it, in all
thirty-three Greek Cypriot and Turkish
Cypriot cartoonists present samples of
their work, in which they record with their
pen nib the events and the agony of the
people of Cyprus about their future, in
areas where common problems join the
people and their voice, in the first forty
years of the Republic of Cyprus.

Verhaltnis zwischen Stadt und Land
auseinandergesetzt.
Stadte sind aufregend, hier pulsiert das
Leben. Wer hier lebt ist "modern". Auf
dem Land dagegen lebt es sich spieBig
und langweilig. Hier passiert nichts, sa
gen sich sprichwörtlich Fuchs und Hase
gute Nacht. Soweit die Klischees und
Vorurteile, die jeder kennt. Doch wie viel
Wahrheit steckt dahinter? Wie sieht sie
den n nun aus, die Konkurrenz zwischen
Stadt und Land? Sind Stadte
grundsatzlich moderne Metropolen mit
kosmopolitischen zeitgeistgestahlten
Bewohnern? Tummeln sich auf dem Land
wirklich im Geiste schlichte Bürger in
guter Luft und Lebensumstanden aus den
60ern?
Der Kreis Aachen, das Kunst- und
Kulturzentrum (KuK) in Monschau und
der Aachener Zeitungsverlag ha ben mit
ihrem dritten internationalen CartoonWettbewerb die Probe aufs Exempel
gemacht. Unter dem Titel "Stadt =
Metropole / Land = Provinz?" haben wir
Cartoonkünstler/innen aufgerufen, ihre
Sicht auf die Beziehung zwischen Stadt
und Land und den Menschen, die dort
leben, in Zeichnungen zu fassen. Ein
Therna, das gerade in diesem Jahr in
Stadt und Kreis Aachen von besonderem
Interesse ist, fusionieren doch in der
StadteRegion vermeintlich "Metropole"
und "Provinz". Spannend aber auch, wie
das Thema in anderen Landern gesehen
wird, wo das Gefalle zwischen
Millionenstadten und dörflichen
Strukturen wesentlich extremer ist als bei
uns. Dass es ein Thema ist, das bewegt,
zeigt die hohe Zahl der Teilnehmer. Es
wurden 462 Cartoons von insgesamt 155
Künstlerinnen und Künstlern aus 35
verschiedenen Landem eingereicht.
Die Cartoons spiegel n die
unterschiedlichen Mentalitaten und
Aspekte in der gesellschaftspolitischen
Auseinandersetzung mit der Thematik in
den einzelnen Landem wider. Da werden
beispielsweise humorvolle kleine
Geschichten erzahlt, die die Leichtigkeit
des Lebens zeigen. Andere eingereichte
Arbeiten, sind da im Grundton "ernster".
Sie beschaftigen sich mit den
Schattenseiten der Verstadterung, greifen
Umweltproblematiken, die Opferung von
Grünflachen oder die soziale,
ökonomische und kulturelle Entwicklung
in den Stadten auf. Einige Cartoons regen
zum Schmunzeln, andere zum
Nachdenken an.
Sicher werden viele Menschen die im
Katalog prasentierten Cartoons im
Original an einem der vorgesehenen
Ausstellungsorte in der Region sehen.
Wer diese Möglichkeit nicht hat, oder
seine Favoriten auch zu Hause in Ruhe
ansehen möchte, kann auf den
vorliegenden Katalog zurückgreifen.

25. TOLENTINO HUMOUR
BIENNIAL CARTOON ALBUME
25 YEARS OF THE BIENNIAL, OR
RATHER: 50 YEARS OF HUMOUR.
There are several things that should
be a "Biennial" event, for example a lady's
birthday, or tax forms, or certain inevitable
occasions with the relatives... the
International Biennial of Humour in Art is
placed in a special category: a longawaited event. And it is in this way, from
1961 to today, that in 50 years there have
been 25 Biennials.
It's also true that to organize them
every year can be a hard economic task.
But the reason for the wait is is to make
you laugh...you need the right break. One
year you think, the other you laugh. Of
course, amidst all the laughs, in this half
century of life, there have been just as
many "thoughts". 1968, the "years of
terrorism", government crises, economic
aises, wars between states, September
11... But when, thank goodness, one is
distracted from these thoughts, the
unsinkable company of optimism returns:
laughter. And inevitably, laughter brings
with it the intelligence of thought.
You just need to look at the works that
have arrived in Tolentino this year from
the whole world (about 1200), which on
the theme of "The children are watching
us and laughing at us" they have found
the mark, the touch and the smile often
tinged with bitterness. Satire has always
dug into history, customs, politics and
human weaknesses. In third place among
the prizewinners, a Cuban artist, with an
intelligent shifting of sense, presents the
blindness of adults: The father, who is an
executioner by trade, scolds his daughter
for having pulled the head off her doll. And
the second prize: a newbom baby aIready
comes out mature from the welcoming
maternal stomach. He has all his teeth
and mercilessly bites the fingers of the
unfortunate surgeon. It is as if he wanted
to show that yes, he is smail, but is
aýready very aware of how the world is
and that you need to be the first to bite, if
not you 'II be excluded. And then the first
prize: the naivety of the little one sat on
his potty, imitates the Iyrical and conceited
painter father, using the only material he
has available: the substance of a certain
colour, that the artists of the past, selfconscious, christened "earth of Burnt
Siena". The child's expression is beautiful,
as he seems to want to copy with his
synthetic and primeval gesture, the art of
the father. Political satire, custom satire,
everyday satire. The usual "Human
Comedy" that real humour always
succeeds in describing.
There are many other works that
equally deserved to take place in the
smail Hall of Fame of this competition.
Humour will perhaps save us.
The value of the "Lightness" so well
described in the "American lessons" by
Italo Calvino, will allow us to jump over
the obstacle every time, even if
precariously. It is wrong to consider
humour as an unimportant genre.
Humanity has always written about it with
curiosity and resped. From Plato, for
whom there would exist pedagogical
laughter and the philosopher would be the
true master of the laughter of the others,
to Bergson, who studied the automatisms
of it, and Freud, who analyzed the motto
of wit from a psychoanalytical point of
view... Mr Togati and Parrucconi will have
to sooner or later give in: to laugh is noble.
lt is also therapeutic, which one has
always known. A recent title by Mario
Farne says: "Cure yourself with laughter".
Yes, laughter is a medicine that one must
use every now and then, given that it's
always free! Laughter allows us to
pleasantly break free from our hidden
impulses without damaging the others.
A way of releasing aggressive instincts
without aggressiveness.
In these years, sometimes dark, in
which there have also been barbaric "Civil
wars", we hope that "The civilization of a
smile" can become, as soon as possible,
"The smile of civilization".
Therefore: long live Humour! lt is this
International Biennial of Humour in Art
that here in Tolentino for 50 years, has
been its protedor and standard-bearer.

We always talk about the wine culture, we also add wine in
culture.
Cinema, painting, literature, art generally have drawn
from wine and whereas.
A two-sided journey that makes get high the wine glass on
the seventh art podium, as cinema is considered the seventh
art. Thinking to Mario Soldati, writer and Italian movie director
who said that" wine is some thing that lives and make part of
our lives" we can say that the product
wine is the "8th art."
The first historical reference we find it in the bible, the patriarch
Noe ate fermented grape to celebrate the Delage.
Another ancient wine riferiment we have it in Kana's wedding.
According to the legend, a Persian king forgot a grape bunch
inside an amphora. After a little time, he saw with surprise that
it has fermented and spread some juice.
He thought that juice was poison and inform about that his
courtesan. But one of them who lost the king's favour, tried to
committ sucide drinking that juice thinking it was poison. Instead
the more she drinked it, the more she felt happy and wishful
and so she gave them a glass to the king waking in him desire.
The wine alchemyhas always been present in magician and
sublime aspects of human beeing. Our most happiest moments
are celebrated with this nectar produced by earth and by man's
work. Celebrations, weddings, birthes, deceases, great
banquets, family or religious parties are accompained with wine,
nectar from fermented grape that transmits euphoria and
happiness.
Wine has been the inspiration source in literary creation in
all his genres. Wine is life and truth, according to the classical
motto "in vino veritas", as it's been told by the french director
Jean Luc Godard: "Truth is images in 24 images per second':
Wine is, like humour drinking poetry, that has to be tasted, felt,
seen and heard...
Always present in historyand art.

Nezih Danyal'ýn karikatürdeki ilk hocasý, "Ondan çok þey öðrendim" dediði
Altan Erbulak. Gazetelerdeki çizerlerin karikatürlerine otosansür uyguladýklarýný
söyleyen sanatçý, Türk karikatürünün düþüþe geçtiði kanýsýnda.
"KARÝKATÜRÜN ESKÝ TADI YOK"
ÖZGE KESKÝN
Sayfalarca süren bir yazýdan ya da
saatlerce süren bir filmden bile daha
etkili olabilen bir sanat bu. Sýnýrý hayal
gücünüz kadar geniþ, anlatýmý çizgiler
dolusu sonsuz, kimi zaman binlerce
sözcüðü yetersiz kýlabilecek denli etkili;
güldürürken bolca düþündüren ve
kuþkusuz fazlasýyla zekâ isteyen bir
sanat: Karikatür.
Hele böylesine zor bir meslekte 50
yýlý geride býrakmak ve hâlâ ilk günkü
gibi üretmek, üretirken de öðretmek
ancak Nezih Danyal gibi iþini aþkla,
yürekten yapan insanlarýn harcý. Türk
karikatürünün kilometre taþlarýndan
olan çizer, sanatýna dair deneyimlerini
ve hiç bitmeyen yeni projelerini
Cumhuriyet okurlarýyla paylaþtý.
Meslekte bu yýl yarým asýrý geride
býrakan usta çizerin hayatýna karikatür
çok küçük yaþlarda girmiþ. Hatta ilk
karikatürlerini 8 yaþýndayken sünnet
düðününde hediye gelen renkli
kalemlerle çizmeye baþlamýþ.
"Herkes resim yapar ya
çocukluðunda, aslýnda onlar resim
deðildir, çizgidir. Karikatüre daha
yakýndýr çizilenler ama bilmezler. Bu iþe
baþlamamýn nedeni çok ciddi
bakmamdýr o çizgilere" diyen Danyal
karikatüre çizgi romanlarý taklit ederek
baþlamýþ. Ýlk gerçek karikatürünü
çizdiðinde ise 15 yaþýndaymýþ.
Okulu, hatta o zamanlar kitabý bile
olmayan bu sanatta ilk hocasý ise
"Ondan çok þey öðrendim" dediði Altan
Erbulak olmuþ.
Daha bu iþe baþladýðý ilk yýllarda can
alýcý bir sorun kurcalamýþ Nezih
Danyal'ýn zihnini; "Neden bu iþin bir
okulu yok? Ve daha da önemlisi neden
karikatürle ilgili kitap yok?" Bu soruna
çözümü de gene kendi yaratmýþ ve
1994'te "Karikatür Vakfý"ný kurarak
çocukluk hayallerini gerçekleþtirmiþ.
Bir zamanlar Türk Karikatürü'nün
dünyanýn en iyileri arasýnda ilk üçte
olduðunu belirten usta çizer "Türk
Karikatürü'nün içeriye döndüðü için
geriye gittiðini" söylüyor ve nedenlerini
"Þu anda var olmayan çeþitlilik, farklý
çizgileri barýndýrmak ve tek düzelikten
uzak olmak" diye sýralýyor.
Türk Karikatürü'nün düþüþe
geçmesinde yazýlý mizahýn büyük payý
olduðuna iliþkin görüþünü de þöyle
dillendiriyor Nezih Danyal: "Karikatür
çizgidir, yazý deðil. Bu ikisini birbirine
karýþtýrmamak lazým. Nasýl notalarýn
üzerine söz yazdýðýnýzda o artýk þarký
oluyorsa bu da öyle. Çünkü karikatür
okunmaz ki, ben derdimi sadece
çizgilerle anlatmaya çalýþtým.
Karikatürümün vurucu olmasýna, yarayý
örtmeyip tedavi edici yöntemi
bulmasýna uðraþtým."
Gazetelerdeki siyasi karikatürlerin de
neredeyse bitme noktasýna geldiðini
söylemeden geçemeyen usta çizer,
karikatürlere artýk kendi çizerlerinin
otosansür uyguladýðýný söylüyor
üzülerek.
Danyal'a göre "karikatürün eski tadý
yok, sadece gönül okþuyor." Bugüne
kadar karikatür sanatýna sayýsýz katký
saðlayan yurtiçi ve dýþýnda yüzlerce
sergi açýp bir o kadar da ödülün sahibi
olan Nezih Danyal'ýn durmaya niyeti
yok!
Yeni projeleri için gün sayýyor. Usta
çizer, bir çizgi film stüdyosu kurmayý
istediðini ama öncesinde hep hayalini
kurduðu "Karikatür Müzesi" projesini
hayata geçireceðini; kurduðu "Karikatür
Vakfý" bünyesinde fazlasýyla malzeme
olduðunu, bunlarý kalýcý hale getirmek
için bu müzeyi kurmak istediðini
belirtiyor.
Bir de meslek hayatýnda doldurduðu
50 yýlý yakýn zamanda okurlarla
buluþacak bir kitapla paylaþmak istiyor.

Fakültesi Dekaný Prof. Zehra Çobanlý,
üniversite öðretim üyeleri, Eskiþehirli
karikatürcüler, karikatürseverler ve
öðrenciler vardý. Ayrýca sanatçýnýn
Ýstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi'nden sýnýf
arkadaþlarý da sürpriz yaparak açýlýþta
bulundular.
Athanasios Efthimiadis gerek
arkadaþlarýndan, gerekse
Eskiþehirlilerin ilgisinden dolayý çok
heyecanlandý. Yaptýðý konuþmada:
"Serginin Eskiþehir'de oluþu benim
için ayrý bir önem taþýyor ve ayný
zamanda sevinç kaynaðý oluyor,
çünkü bu þehir yalnýz Türkiye için
deðil, geliþen ülkelere örnek olarak
gösterilecek bir kent düzeyine çýkmýþ.
Anadolu Üniversitesi dünyanýn en
popüler 100 üniversitesi arasýna
girmiþ. Bu ortamda sizlerle birlikte
olmak mutluluðunu saðlayan
üniversite yetkililerine teþekkür
ediyorum. Mizah ve karikatürü çok
seven Ege'nin karþý yakasýndan
sizlere selam ve sevgiler iletiyorum"
dedi.
Sanatçý sergi açýlýþýnda tüm
katýlýmcýlara kartpostallarýný
imzalayarak daðýttý.
Türk ve yunan kültürünün ortak
yanlarýný yansýtan 60 renkli
karikatürden oluþan sergi 30 Mayýs
2010 tarihinde sona erdi...

yýlýnda Ýstanbul'da doðdu. 1968
yýlýnda Ýstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi
Ýnþaat Fakültesi'nden mezun oldu.
1976'da þu anda yaþamakta olduðu
Atina'ya yerleþti.
"Ben 30 yýl Türkiye'de yaþadým, 32
yýldýr Atina'da yaþýyorum. Askerliðimi
Ankara'da yaptým, Türk pasaportu
taþýyorum" diyor.
Serginin açýlýþýný Anadolu
Üniversitesi Rektör Yardýmcýlarý Prof.
Dr. Hasan Mandal ve Prof. Dr. Naci
Gündoðan yaptý.
