Aydan Balamir, B.Arch, M.Arch, Ph.D.
Received her degrees from Department of Architecture at METU, where she has been
teaching architectural design and theory courses since 1985. Prior to working at
METU, carried out doctoral research as Fulbright scholar at UC Berkeley. Held
architectural practice in private offices and through university fund projects. Served
in Preservation
Councils of Cappadocia (1997-2007) and Ankara Renewal Area
(2008-2011). Membership in professional boards and
juries, including the
Committee of National Exhibition and Awards (chairperson, 1997-2004) and the
Executive Board of Architecture Association 1927 (chairperson, 2012-14). Among
architectural exhibitions she has organized, the one on
Clemens Holzmeister
brought two international awards for its catalogue published in 2010. Recent
research focuses
on design studio experiments in urban context.
