Separately, 10 PKK terrorists surrendered to security forces in Turkey’s
southeastern Sirnak province Thursday, the army added.

the EU.

Russia Proposes 7-Point Peace Plan for Syria
ASSAD TO GRADUALLY STEP ASIDE UNDER RUSSIAN PLAN
by Zaki Shaikh and Andrew Jay
Rosenbaum LONDON
The Russian government has proposed a seven-point peace plan for
Syria, ahead of the next international
negotiations slated to be held in Geneva starting on Nov. 13.
The most notable aspect of the plan
is that it calls for Assad to eventually
leave power, after the transition to a
new government has been made.
Shortly after Turkish President Recep
Tayyip Erdogan’s telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir
Putin on Wednesday, the Russian
press reported that the Kremlin could
change its position on the survival of
the Assad regime.
The plan, which was leaked to the
Russian press on Nov. 3, upholds this
view. It proposes a “no winners, no
losers” solution which analysts say is
similar to the Taif agreement of 1989
which put an end to civil war in Lebanon.
For now, there has been no official reaction to the plan from Western governments.
According to the plan, there cannot
be a “winner-takes-all” outcome to
the conflict, explained Vladimir Florov, a PR advisor to the Russian government, in an article on the website
Gazeta.ru. >MORE DETAILS
Anti-PKK operations to continue
without break: Erdogan
TURKISH PRESIDENT HAS RENAMED THE ‘SOLUTION PROCESS’, WHICH WAS
INITIATED BY AK PARTY TO END THE KURDISH CONFLICT, AS THE ‘NATIONAL
UNITY AND FRATERNITY PROCESS’
ANKARA
Turkish President Recep Tayyip
Erdogan has renamed the “solution
process”, which was initiated by the
Justice and Development (AK) Party
to end the Kurdish conflict, as the
“National Unity and Fraternity Process”.
In a meeting with mukhtars -- locally elected village and neighborhood
leaders -- at the Presidential Palace

in Ankara on Wednesday, Erdogan
said: “The upcoming term is not a
discussion or a debate term. In all
honesty I can say that it is a term
that it will have results. From now
on it is a ‘National Unity and Fraternity Process’,” Erdogan said.
“The operations against PKK in
Turkey and abroad are being taken
in a determined way. There will be
no break, we will go on,” the president said.
Erdogan said they would struggle until terrorists lay down their
arms and until the organization is
dissolved as the PKK members go
abroad.

BAN KI-MOON ENCOURAGES POLITICAL PARTIES ‘TO WORK CLOSELY TOGETHER TO STRENG
THEN THE PEACE, STABILITY AND DEMOCRACY
IN THE COUNTRY’
NEW YORK
UN Secretary-General Ban
Ki-moon on Wednesday
congratulated Turkey and
its government on the Nov.
1 parliamentary elections,
which saw the Justice and
Development (AK) Party secure an outright majority.
In a statement issued by his
spokesperson, Ban encouraged the AK Party and all political parties “to work closely
together to strengthen the
peace, stability and democra-
cy in the country”.
According to preliminary
results, the AK Party won
over 49 percent of the votes,
a higher proportion than predictions by opinion polls. The
party won 317 seats in the
550-member Turkish parliament.
The Republican People’s Party (CHP) came second with
25.3 percent, followed by
the Nationalist Movement
Party at 11.9 percent and the
Peoples’ Democratic Party
(HDP) at 10.7 percent.
Sunday’s snap vote was called
following an inconclusive
general election in June,
which saw no party win an
outright majority. Months
of subsequent talks between
parties failed to produce a coalition. >MORE DETAILS
Turkey: AK Party victory good

ANKARA
Turkey’s general election
on Nov. 1 has resulted in a
more stable and predictable
political environment for
the implementation of economic reforms, credit rating
agency Moody’s Vice President Alpona Banerji said on
Wednesday.
Speaking at the Ninth Turkey Annual Credit Risks
Conference, Banarji said that
the victory for the Justice and
Development (AK) Party,
which can now govern on its
own, largely reduced political
uncertainty, and paved the
way for structural reforms for the
labor market and investment arena.
Banerji explained that all
emerging economies, including Turkey, which have been
rated at “Baa” by Moody’s are
exposed to risks due to rapid
movements of capital.
