FATİH SULTAN MEHMED’İN KILICI
Sultan Kılıcı, Fatih Sultan Mehmed’in orjinali Topkapı Sarayı
Müzesi’nde olan kılıcının replikasıdır. 125 cm uzunluğunda
ve 2,3 kg ağırlığındaki kılıç üzerinde sultana güç ve kuvvet
vermesi için yazılmış bir dua yer almaktadır. Kılıcın balçak kısmı
masif pirinç, sap kısmı koç boynuzudur. Üzerindeki oluklar
asit indirme tekniği ile oluşturulmuş, dua aslına uygun olarak
tamamen el işçiliği ile işlenmiştir.
Kılıç üzerinde Arapça olarak;
Bismillahirrahmanirrahim. Hak dinin bağlarını parıltılı ve açık harfli ayetlerle ve keskin ve
parlak kılıçlarla güçlendiren yüce Allah’a hamd olsun. Selat ve Selam, en güzel fasih sözlerle
vasfedilen Hazret-i Muhammed ve ehli beytine olsun.
Allah’ım! Dinin erkanlarını yüceltmek için mücadele eden gazi ve mücahitlerin sultanı, cihat
için çekilen keskin kılıç olan Sultan Murad Han’ın oğlu Mehmed Han’a güç kuvvet ver ve
kılıcının kınını şeriat düşmanlarının boynunda, kaleminin mürekkebini de alemlerin rabbinin
inayetinde eyle.
O, Sultan Osman Han’ın oğlu Orhan Han’ın oğlu Murat Han’ın oğlu Mehmed Han’dır. Allah
onların mezarlarının toprağını, gazilerin kılıçlarından akan zülal ile sulasın ve kılıçların gölgesi
altında olan cenneti de mekanları eylesin Amin Ya Rabbelalemin.
MEHMED THE CONQUEROR’S SWORD
B
The Sultan’s Sword is a replica of Fatih Sultan Mehmed’s sword,
the original of which is kept at the Topkapı Palace Museum.The
sword, the dimensions and weight of which are respectively 125
cm and 2,3 kg, contains an inscription consisting of a supplication
to God to grant the sultan power and strength. The cross-guard
of the sword is of solid brass while its hilt is of ram’s horn. The
fullers are formed by etching, and the supplication is completely
handmade as in the original.
The Arabic inscription on the sword reads as follows:
In the name of Allah, the compassionate, the merciful. May authority be fortunate to Allah,
the Almighty, who strengthens the braces of religion with gleaming and clear worded verses
and sharp and lurid blades. May Salaat and Salam told in the most beautiful and fluent
words be upon Prophet Mohammed and his Ahl-e Bayt.
My Allah! Give power and strength to Mehmed Khan, the son of Sultan Murad Khan who
is the sharpest sword drawn for the Crusades, the sultan of veterans and mujahids who
struggled to praise the seniors of religion, and place the mercy of his sword’s sheath on the
necks of the enemies of sharia and the ink of his pen on the God of universes.
He, is Mehmed Khan, the son of Sultan Osman Khan, the son of Orhan Khan, the son of
Bayezid Khan. May Allah water the soil on their graves with the cool and sweet waters
flowing from the swords of veterans and may He allow the heavens under the shadow of
swords their abode. Amin, Ya Rabbelalemin.

THE TOPKAPI DAGGER
Known as the world’s most valuable dagger, the
Topkapı Dagger was made in 1741 by order of
Mahmud I to be presented to Nadir Shah, Shah of
Iran. Capturing the whole world’s attention today
with its matchless beauty and radiant brilliance, the
Topkapı Dagger is exhibited at the Treasury Section
and is among the most valuable articles of the palace.

Made of middle eastern origin and featuring a
composition of a dragon and a simurgh fighting,
the mirror was once more given life in the hands of
Ottoman palace artists in mid 16th century and
became one of the palace women’s favourite articles.

The helmets inspired by the original articles kept at Topkapı Palace and ornamented with eulogies to the sultan, the
basmala and verses and surahs from the Koran reflect the jubilation of imperial ceremonies.

KAFTAN
Topkapı Sarayı’ndaki Ehl-i Hiref teşkilatındaki nakkaşlar bölüğü tarafından pahalı ipekli kumaşlardan dikilen kaftanlar,
saray erkanının en önemli giyim kuşam sembollerindendi. Osmanlı’daki hilat geleneğinde de kullanılan kaftanlar, dönemin
kıyafet ve kumaş sanatının en zengin örneklerini gözler önüne seriyor.
CAFTAN
The caftans sown from expensive silken materials by the embroiderers in the Ehl-i Hiref organisation at Topkapı Palace
were the most important clothing symbols of the palace courtiers. Used also in the Ottoman hilat (ceremonial receipt of
robes of office) tradition, the caftans offer the richest examples of the clothing and fabric art of the time.

TUĞRA
Osmanlı Devleti ile bütünleşen bir simge olan; Sultan ile babasının adını ve “el muzaffer daima” dua temennisini içeren
tuğralar, hükümdarların nişan, alamet veya arması olarak asırlar boyunca önemini korumuştur. Tuğra, “Kürsi” veya “Sele”
olarak bilinen alt kısmında başlayarak yukarı doğru okunur. Zengin anlatım gücü ve kaligrafik çeşitlilikleri ile asırlar boyu
kullanılan tuğralar, dekoratif objeler olarak hat sanatçılarının elinde yeniden yorumlanıyor.
THE TUGHRA: SULTAN’S SIGNATURE
A symbol that is synonymous with the Ottoman state, the Tughra has preserved its importance for centuries as the
signature, coat of arms or crest of the sultans, bearing the sultan’s and his father’s names and the “always victorious” prayer.
Tughras are read from bottom, known as “Kürsi” or “Sele,” to top. Used for centuries with their rich power of expression
and their calligraphic variety, tughras have reinterpreted in the hands of calligraphers as decorative objects.

LATİS-İ HAREM
Topkapı Sarayı’nın ünlü Harem’inde bulunan Hünkar Sofası’nı, kadınların yaşadığı bölümden
ayırması için hamamlar inşa edilmiştir. Latis-i Harem Koleksiyonu hükümdar gözdelerinin
yıkandığı hamamın ünlü kafesinden esinlenerek tasarlanmıştır. Hamam kafesindeki şık
figürler ile bezenen birbirinden güzel ürünler sizi Harem’in esrarengiz büyüsüyle buluşturacak.
LATTICE OF THE HAREM
Baths were built to separate the Sultan’s Hall located in the famous Harem of Topkapı Palace
from the quarters occupied by women. The Lattice of the Harem Collection was inspired by
the famous lattice of the bath where the sultan’s favourites bathed. The beautiful articles
ornamented with the elegant figures in the bath lattice will introduce you to the mysterious
magic of the Harem.

It is known that the 107 columns found in Hagia
Sophia were brought from the old temples of the
Byzantine Empire. One of these columns bears the
fresco of the Archangel Seraphim believed to protect God’s throne in heaven. The vase inspired by

Fırat ve Dicle Nehirleri arasında kalan bölgede, günümüzde Şanlıurfa sınırları içerisinde yer alan Göbeklitepe, bilinen en eski
kült yapılar topluluğudur. Ortak özelliği, T biçimindeki dikilitaşların yuvarlak planda dizilmiş, araları taş duvarla örülmüş
olan yapıların tarihi 12.000 yıl öncesine dayanıyor. Dünyanın ilk mabedi olarak bilinen Göbeklitepe, tarihin başlangıcını

Remaining within the boundaries of Şanlıurfa, in the region lying between the rivers Euphrates and Tigris, Göbeklitepe is
the oldest known collection of cult buildings. The history of the buildings consisting of T-shaped obelisks arranged in a
circle and connected with masonry walls dates back 12.000 years. Known as the first temple of the world, Göbeklitepe is a
bridge between the beginning of history and the present.

THE EVIL EYE TALISMAN
The belief of the evil eye dates back thousands of years, to Ancient Egypt. It
is possible to see in many beliefs the traces of the evil eye talisman believed
to be inspired by the eye of Osiris who saw all evils in the world. The evil
eye talisman gained a new identity with Anatolia’s glass art that goes
back 3000 years and became one of the indispensable figures of Anatolia.

Hümayun’da cariyelere doğru kahve pişirme dersleri verilirken, zaman içinde
Türkler tarafından bulunan yepyeni hazırlama metodu sayesinde kahve,
güğüm ve cezvelerde pişirilerek Türk kahvesi adını aldı. UNESCO İnsanlığın

TURKISH COFFEE
Brought in 1517 by Özdemir Pasha, Governor of Yemen, and becoming an
integral part of daily life in the Ottoman Empire in a short time, coffee was
prepared carefully by the resident coffee masters of the palace. While the
concubines were trained to brew good coffee at the Harem, in time coffee
started to be brewed in kettles and coffee pots thanks to the new brewing
method invented by Turks, and took the name Turkish Coffee. Entering the
Representative List of the Human Intangible Cultural Heritage of the UNESCO,
Turkish coffee pleasures our palates with its classic and gum mastic flavours.
