Güzel Sanatlar ve Tasarým Fakültesi’nin ilk bölümü olan Moda Tasarýmý 2006-2007 Öðretim Yýlý'nda üçüncü
mezunlarýný vermenin gururunu taþýyor. Her geçen yýl kendini artan bir güçle kanýtlayan bölümümüz,
mezunlarýnýn çalýþma hayatýna iliþkin baþarýlarýyla da iftihar etmeye hazýrlanýyor.
Hiç þüphe yok ki, Fakültemizin hýzla geliþmesinde ve adýný duyurmasýnda onu inançla destekleyen

Fashion Design, the first department of the Fine Arts and Design Faculty, is proud of the graduating
students of 2007. Our department which has proved increasingly successful with each passing year is
delighted with the success of our new graduates
Undoubtedly, the Head of our Board of Trustees, Ekrem Demirtaþ, who consistently supports us, and our
Rector Prof. Dr. Attila Sezgin have been integral figures in the rapid development and good reputation
of our Faculty. I would like to thank them and all who have contributed, especially the members of the
Fashion Design Department for their efforts.

Moda Tasarýmý Bölümü 2006-2007 Öðretim Yýlý'nýn sonunda üçüncü mezunlarýný veriyor ve ikinci mezuniyet
defilesini gerçekleþtiriyor. Bu yýl, geniþ bir çizgi yelpazesine uzanan dokuz koleksiyonun ortak noktasý hemen
hepsinin sosyal sorunlara ve toplumsal duyarlýlýða iþaret ediyor olmasý. Bu yüzden yýl sonu etkinliðimiz için
“Sense the Future/ Geleceði Duyumsa” baþlýðýný uygun gördük. Bu baðlamda, küresel ýsýnma, duyarsýzlýk,
uyuþturucu baðýmlýlýðý, töre, gösteriþçi tüketim, kentsel yýðýlma, organ baðýþý gibi temalar üzerinde
yarattýklarý kreasyonlarla, genç tasarýmcý adaylarýmýzýn, kavramsal bir derinlik katarak, çaðdaþ Türk modasýný
daha da zenginleþtireceklerini umut ediyorum. Tasarým deðerinin yaný sýra, bu koleksiyonlar gerçek tüketicinin
ilgisini çekebilecek ölçüde kaliteli ürünlerle Türk Moda Endüstrisi için gerçek bir pazar ve ekonomik deðer
yaratma amacýný taþýyor. Diðer taraftan, Moda Ýþletmeciliði Uzmanlýk Alaný mezunlarýmýzýn bir kýsmý, daha
þimdiden Türkiye’nin en önemli tasarýmcýlarýnýn yanlarýnda yerlerini almaya baþladýlar bile. Ýnanýyorum ki
bu geliþim, yakýn bir gelecekte moda tasarýmý ve iþletme mezunlarýmýzýn ortaklýklarý ile oluþan yeni markalarýn
oluþumuna yol açacak. Mezunlarýmýza baþarýlar diliyor, organizasyonda emeði ve desteði olan herkese
teþekkürlerimi sunuyorum.

At the end of the 2006-2007 academic year, The Fashion Design Department will see the graduation of its
third generation of students and we will mark the occasion with our second graduation fashion show.
This year, the common theme of the nine different collections is the reference to the social sensitivities
of modern society. “Sense the Future” seemed an appropriate title for our end of the year fashion event.
Within this context, I am confident that, our young designers will enrich the contemporary Turkish fashion,
by incorporating a conceptual perspective, with their creations based on such themes as global warming,
insensitivity, drug addiction, customs, conspicuous consumption, over-population and organ donation.
Design merit aside, these collections are aimed at the real market and offer economic value for the
Turkish Fashion Industry, through quality products which could appeal to the real consumer. We have
also been encouraged to see that many of our graduates of the Fashion Business Specialization Area
have already started their careers with some of the most prominent names in the Turkish Fashion Design
Industry. I believe the on-going progress within our department can only help to accelerate the development
of the Turkish Fashion Industry, through the creation of new fashion brands, and through partnerships
between fashion design & business graduates in the near future. I wish all our graduates a successful
career, and would like to thank all who have contributed and supported this organisation.

1982 yýlýnda Ýzmir'de doðdum. Güzel sanatlara olan ilgim lise
yýllarýnda ortaya çýktý. 75.yýl Cumhuriyet Lisesi'ni bitirdikten sonra
Ýzmir Ekonomi Üniversitesi'nde Moda Tasarým Bölümü'ne girdim.
Tasarlamak, çizmek hayal gücümü kaðýda ve kumaþa aktarmak,
illüstrasyon yapmak benim için büyük bir zevk. Aldýðým eðitim
sonunda, günümüz çaðdaþ modasýndan haberdar, farklý temalara
uygun tasarýmlarý günümüz trendlerine uyarlayabilen bir noktaya
geldim. Ýnsanlarý, sokaklarda giysilerimle gördüðümde hayallerimi
gerçekleþtirmiþ olacaðým.

I was born in Izmir in 1982. After graduating from 75. Year
Cumhuriyet high school, I was accepted to the Fashion
Design Department at Ýzmir University of Economics. I
became interested in fine arts and design during high
school and at university I was finally able to transfer my
thoughts onto paper before realising my ideas through fabric.
My education has made me aware of contemporary fashion
and I am now capable of realising my own collections
according to concepts and current trends. My dream is
to be a world renowned designer and to see others wearing
my creations.

Bugünün modern genç jenerasyonu, giderek sanal dünyanýn ve
teknolojinin baðýmlýsý olmakta. Sanal dünyanýn son fantezisi olan
'Uzay Turizmi'nden etkilenerek hazýrlanmýþ olan bu koleksiyon, eðlencenin
farklý boyutlardaki deneyimini yaþamak ve bu keþfedilmemiþ dünyanýn
kapýlarýný aralamak isteyenleri çýlgýn bir maceraya davet ediyor.

The modern youth of today are increasingly
drawn to technological advancements and
the virtual world. This collection is inspired by
'Space Tourism', the newest realm in this
virtual adventure which will offer the intrepid
amongst us the chance to experience this
undiscovered Universe.

ÇIKMAZ SOKAK
Uyuþturucu baðýmlýlýðý 21.yüzyýlda gençliði tehdit eden
baþlýca sorunlardan biridir. Dünyanýn her yerinde olduðu
gibi, Türkiye'de de uyuþturucu baðýmlýlarýn sayýsý giderek
artmakta ve birçok gencin hayatýný sonlandýrmaktadýr.
Bu baðlamda hazýrlamýþ olduðum koleksiyonumun amacý
uyuþturucu baðýmlýlýðýna karþý bir tepki yaratmak, baðýmlýlýk
sürecini baþtan sona aktararak, çoðu zaman geri dönüþ
þansýnýn olmadýðý gerçeðini vurgulamaktýr.
BLIND ALLEY

Drug addiction is one of the major problems facing the younger generation in the 21st century. In Turkey,
as elsewhere, the number of drug addicts is increasing rapidly resulting in many senseless deaths. This
collection was conceived to provoke a reaction to this modern social problem by highlighting the process
of addiction, from the initial experimental stage to the point of no return.

1984 yýlýnda Ýstanbul'da doðdum. 2002 yýlýnda Burak
Bora Anadolu Lisesi'nden mezun olduktan sonra Ýzmir
Ekonomi Üniversitesi Moda Tasarýmý Bölümü'nü burslu
olarak kazandým. Böylece 16 yýl önce beþ kibrit
çöpü, bir misket ve biraz da kumaþ parçasýyla
baþlayan yaratma tutkumu hayata geçirmemi
saðlayacak ilk adýmý atmýþ oldum. Ýzmir Ekonomi
Üniversitesi'ndeki dört yýllýk eðitimimin sonunda,
bugün, Türk Moda Endüstrisi'nin temel ihtiyaçlarýný
kavramýþ, yenilikçi ve özgün tasarým anlayýþýný
kendine ilke edinmiþ genç bir profesyonel olarak
mezun oluyorum.
I was born in Istanbul in1984. In 2002, after graduating
from Burak Bora Anatolian High School, I entered
Ýzmir University of Economics as a scholarship student.
This was my first step on the ladder to becoming a
professional fully-fledged fashion designer, a process
which started many years ago with fifteen matchsticks,
one bead and some fabric. After four years at Ýzmir
University of Economics, I have developed my own
unique approach to fashion and I am now very
aware of the fundamental needs of the Turkish
Fashion Industry and can apply these principles to
my work accordingly.

SHADOWS IN SILENCE
The complexity of our lives makes us jaded; we forget ourselves and our
values. We become increasingly isolated, colder and move away from
our beliefs. We now inhabit a virtual reality. This collection was conceived
to make the viewer conscious of my reaction to our spiritual decay and
the effects of social chaos on our restrained bodies. This is the story of a
working girl in search of a new reality, the place she remembers in her
dreams. She is on a quest to find herself, her true feelings and emotions.
By returning to her true self she discovers many details that she has long
forgotten and misses.

I was born in Izmir in 1984. I have been fortunate to grow up in such a wonderful environment which
continually grows on me, making me observe, understand and feel, instead of merely just seeing. Design
is my more than a career for me; it has become a fundamental part of my life and I now look at each
new day from a different perspective as a result. Through my work, I aspire to create garments which
people will want to wear for their personal and emotional value. I would like to thank the university and
my teachers for their support in developing my vision as a designer.

Umut ve umutsuzluk arasýndaki bu ince çizgiyi ''10''lardan daha
iyi kim bilebilir ki? Bu hikaye hayatý boyunca hep bir umutla yaþayan
ve hatta bu umutla ölen insanlara ait... Onlar bizlerden bir hayat
ýþýðý bekleyen ''10'' lar. Zor durumda olan ve organ bekleyen pek
çok hastaný durumu göz önünde alýndýðýnda bu koleksiyonun,
''Organ Baðýþý'' desteðine dikkat çekerek,toplumsal bir farkýndalýk
yaratacaðýný umuyorum. Vücuttaki biyolojik dengeye atýfta bulunarak,
bir yap boz gibi bir parçasý dahi eksik olduðu takdirde, bir bütün
oluþturamayan biyolojik dengemizin kusursuzluðunun önemine
dikkat çekmek istiyorum. Bu yapýsal eksiklik, ''10'' un yok oluþuyla
tamamlanýyor. ''10'' yok oluyor ama umudunu bekleyen diðer
''9lara'' hayat veriyor…

This story is dedicated to the people, awaiting organ transplant that are living and dying with hope. These
are the men and women in need of a life-line from us. This collection will raise awareness of this critical
situation of those ill individuals who are awaiting donation. The biological imbalance associated with the
various illnesses has been represented in this collection through cut, fabric and embellishment of the
garments. The garments in this collection are reduced from "ten" to "nine" through the replacement of
certain garment parts, this is to symbolize the organ donation.

Türk Kolejini bitirdikten sonra, Ýzmir Ekonomi Üniversitesi,
Moda Tasarýmý Bölümünü kazandým. Üniversite
eðitimimin yaný sýra aile iþletmelerini yürütüyorum.
ÝEÜ'ndeki eðitimim iyi seviyede Ýngilizce ve orta
seviyede Ýtalyanca öðrenmemi saðladý. Bilgisayar
programlarýndan Corel Draw ve Photoshop'u ileri
derecede kullanýyorum. Üniversite kapsamýnda
birçok proje çalýþmasýna katýldýmve Pakistan' da
yapýlan defile organizasyonunda yer alma fýrsatý
buldum. Tasarýmlarým ile gerçek dünya içerisinde
var olan, mesaj veren ve tek baþýna ifadesi olan
ürünleri sunmayý umuyorum. Kavramsal çalýþmama
karþýn, tasarýmlarýmýn ticari deðeri olmasýný da
önemsiyorum. Amacým, Türkiye sýnýrlarý içersinde,
moda sektörünün önde gelen isimlerinden biri olmak..
I was born in Izmir in 1984. After graduating from
Ozel Turk College in 2002, I was accepted to study
Fashion Design at Ýzmir University of Economics.
Alongside my studies, I also manage several family
businesses. My education at IUE has allowed me
to develop my English language capability to an
advanced level and I also have a good knowledge
of the Italian language. I am competent on
Photoshop and Corel Draw. I was fortunate to
participate in various fashion events throughout
my time at IEU and I had the opportunity to be
chosen for the organization of a fashion show in
Pakistan. Through my design, I hope to offer the
consumer an expressive, meaningful product.
Although I work in a conceptual manner, I am
adamant that all my designs must be commercially
viable at the same time. It is my intention to become
one of the leading names in Turkish fashion design.

DENÝZ DEMÝRÇÝFTÇÝ
GEÇÝÞ KÝSVESÝ ALTINDA
Toprak yoksunluðu sorunu, artan nüfus dolayýsýyla insan ihtiyaçlarýnýn karþýlamasý
amacýyla geliþen sanayileþme ve hýzlý kentleþme sonucunda ortaya çýktý.
Sahip olunan yeþil alanlar tahrip edildi ve yok edildi. Artýk geleceði
düþünürken çevrebilimine duyarlý olma zamaný. Yer üstünde kurulacak
yaþam için adreslendirilecek alanlar, ancak kalan doðayý yok ederek
varolmakta. Bizim daha saðlýklý yerleþmemizi ve doða ile uyumu yeniden
oluþturacaðýmýz yeni ideal alan ise yeraltý. Gelecek yönünde yeni bir
mimari fikir olan yeraltý yaþamýnda, elbette bugünden farklý olarak insanlarýn
doða ile uyumlu daha minimal bir çizgide yaþamalarý hayal ediliyor.
Bugünün gerçeklerinde bulunan geleceði kurgulayabilmek için duyarlýlýkla
ileriye bakmalýyýz.

Land shortage has appeared as a result a population explosion, due to necessity of industrialization.
Green spaces are in short supply in many parts of the world, having been destroyed for housing and
industry. It is now the time to think ecologically when foreseeing the future. Underground is the solution
to our needs. Underground living is the way of the future, a new concept in architectural thinking. This
collection, in which minimal lines combine with the natural world, was inspired by this forward-thinking
ecological solution to housing which will allow us to co-exist in harmony with our natural world. In order
to foresee the future which lies in today's reality, we must look forward with sensitivity.
DENÝZ DEMÝRÇÝFTÇÝ
1984 Ýzmir doðumluyum. Küçüklüðümden beri etkileþim
içerinde olduðum görsel ve tasarým dünyasý ile
babamýn mimarlýk mesleði dolayýsý ile tanýþtým. 2003
yýlýnda Özel Çakabey Lisesinden mezun olduktan
sonra, Ýzmir Ekonomi Üniversitesi'nde oluþturmak
istediðim kariyer doðrultusunda ilk adýmý attým.
Burada bitip tükenmek bilmeyecek hayallerimin
görsel olarak da gerçekleþtiði bir platforma sahip
olma imkanýný buldum. Hafýzamda yer edinmiþ mimari
görseller modayla birleþince kýyafet üretimlerimde
mimari etkileþim oldukça belirginleþti... Bu uzun soluklu
yolculuk içerisinde tasarým kurgum ' az ama öz '
ve ' detaylarýn oluþturduðu bütünlük 'tür.
I was born in 1984, in Izmir. From a very young age,
I have been immersed in the world of design thanks
to my father's career in architecture. In 2003 I
graduated from Çakabey High School before
embarking on my future career path at Ýzmir University
of Economics. The Fashion Design Course at IUE
has offered me a platform to make my dreams
a reality. When the architectural visuals that have
been long engraved in my memory met with fashion,
my love of complex structural garments became
apparent. This long journey has clarified my thinking
on design "less is more" and "the details constitute
the entirety".

NÝMET ERKAM
I was born in 1984, in Adana. My name was a present from my
grandmother, and my genes were descended from a well known
tailor from Adana, Mrs. Nimet. As a child my favourite toy was the
sewing machine given to me by my grandmother but it was not
until I reached primary school that I realised I would follow a career
in fashion design. My first creation was, a T-shirt which was
recycled from a pair of leggings. After studying at the Anatolian
Girls Professional High School, I continued my design education
in Ýzmir University of Economics. Design is a discovery, a place
where my logic and my heart intersect.
1984 yýlýnda Adana'da doðdum. Adýný taþýdýðýmý hiç bilmeyen babaannemden en güzel hediyeydi,
ismim. Genlerim de, ismim gibi Adanalý ünlü terzi Nimet Hanýmdan geliyordu. Küçükken en büyük zevkim
babaannemden miras kalan dikiþ makinesiyle oynamaktý. Henüz ilkokul yýllarýndayken ailem tasarýmcý
olacaðýmý anlamýþtý. Ýlk eserimdi, tayttan bozma bir t-shirt idi. Anadolu Kýz Meslek Lisesini bitirdikten sonra,
tasarým eðitimime Ýzmir Ekonomi Üniversitesi'nde devam ettim. Tasarým, mantýðýmýn ve kalbimin kesiþtiði
yerdeki bir keþif!

DUYGULARINI KEÞFET
21. yüzyýla damgasýný çoktan vurmuþ olan deðiþim hýzý baþ döndürücü
biçimde hayatýmýzý olumsuz yönde etkilemekte. Bizden bu ivmeye
ve deðiþen dünyaya ayak uydurmamýz bekleniyor. Ancak bizi içine
alan bu döngüye direnç göstermek ve bu deðiþimi pozitif bir
enerjiye döndürmek elimizde. Bu baðlamda koleksiyonun amacý,
her insanýn içinde keþfedemediði bir pozitif enerjinin olduðunu
vurgulamak ve normalde göremediðimiz baþka bir kristal dünyanýn
varolduðunu göstermek.
EXPLORE YOUR SENSE
The pace of life in the 21st century is rapidly accelerating which in turn is negatively impacting on all our
lives. We must strive to turn these negative aspects of modern life into something positive. This collection
highlights the fact that everyone has a positive energy to rediscover. It illustrates that, another crystallised
world exists which we normally fail to see due to our hectic modern lifestyle.

hak kazandým. Hayatýma daha da anlam kazandýran
bu bölümde, kendime ve etrafýma daha farklý
açýlardan bakmayý öðrendim. Bir kaðýt ve bir kalemle
bir þeylere hayat vermek dünyadaki her þeyden
daha önemli benim için. Gördüðüm dünyayý,
hissettiðim duygularý ve zevklerimi baþkalarýnýn da
görmesine olanak saðladýðý için bu mesleðe çok
büyük þükran duyuyorum ve bunun tutkusuyla
profesyonel olarak mezun oluyorum.

MANOLYA ÝNCEOÐULLARI
1983 yýlý, Ýzmir doðumluyum. Ailemden dört kuþak önceden miras
kalan mesleðim benim en güzel seçimimdi. Tasarým yoluna lisede
baþladým. Bornova Anadolu Meslek Lisesi Moda Tasarým Bölümü'nü
bitirdim. Lisede Ýzmir Devlet Opera ve Balesi'nde yaptýðým staj
sonucunda, bu meslekte devam etmeye ve Ýzmir Ekonomi
Üniversitesi'ne girmeye karar verdim. Üniversite bitti ama benim
yolum daha yeni baþlýyor. Daha öðreneceðim çok þey var. Bana
göre tasarým üretmek, yoktan var etmek anlamýna geliyor.
I was born in Ýzmir, in 1983. Fashion design seemed like the best
choice of career as it has been in my blood for four generations,
thanks to my family who have been involved in this industry. I began
my design studies at Bornova Anatolian Vocational High School.
After an internship at the Ýzmir State Opera and Ballet, I decided to
continue my education at Ýzmir University of Economics. Even though
my studies have finished, I am very aware that I have a long way
to go to, and lot to learn in order to realise my dream. To me design
means to produce and to generate.

Topraðý çamura dönüþtürürken bej oldu rengimiz.
Pembeye büründük,gerçekleri unutup hayallerimizin peþinde koþmaya çalýþýrken
Umudumuzu yitirip karanlýðýn sesini dinlerken griye çaldý rengimiz.
Boyalar bittikçe renkler soldu ve yolun sonu gözükmeye baþladý.
Yolun sonunda ise renksizliðin donuk yüzü vardý…

We are all colourful passengers over consuming on the road to no-where.
We were purple while living in luxury without worry,
We were blue while destroying life sources, pretending not to see,
We were beige while turning the soil to mud,
We were pink while trying to catch our dreams by forgetting the reality,
We were grey while listening to the voice of the darkness without hope.
As the end of the road appears, the colour begins to fade and disappear

KADERÝN UYARISI
Yakýn bir zamandan beri dünyamýzý etkisi altýna almaya baþlayan
küresel ýsýnmanýn sonuçlarýndan biri olabilecek küresel kuraklýk,
konseptimi oluþturuyor. Su ve mineral kaybýnýn yol açabileceði
kuraklýðýn insanlar üzerindeki etkisini, doku, renk ve çizgilerle
vurgulamayý amaçladým. Bu etkileri, ön sezileri kuvvetli, özel
yetenekleri olan iki ana karakter yaratarak görselleþtirmeye çalýþtým.
Yaratmýþ olduðum bir kadýn ve bir erkek karakterin oluþabilecek
felaketin sonuçlarýný üzerlerinde taþýyarak uyarýda bulunmalarýný
düþündüm. Koleksiyon erken hareket edilip, doðru þeyler yapýldýðý
takdirde önlenebilecek olan felaketin izlerini taþýmakta.

CAUTIONisOF
FATE on a global drought, a possible cataclysmic scenario if global warming continues
at the current rate. The effects of water and mineral deprivation on mankind would be catastrophic and
are visualised in this collection through textures, colour and cut. The consequence of such a natural
disaster has been portrayed in this range by creating two main characters from the opposite sexes, with
strong personalities, unique talents and skills. This collection is a warning to mankind; it is a blue-print of
a disaster which can be avoided if we have a little more respect for Mother Nature.

1984 Ýzmir doðumluyum. Orta ve lise eðitimimi Ýzmir Özel Fatih Lisesi'nde tamamladým. Küçüklüðümden beri
çizmeyi, karalamayý ve boyamayý çok seviyordum. Beni, bu yeteneðimi deðerlendirmem için Moda Tasarýmýný
bir meslek olarak seçmeye yönlendiren bir ailem olduðu için þanslýydým. Bana en fazla keyif veren þey, kendimden
bir þeyler katabildiðim ve deðiþik dünyalar yaratabildiðim tasarýmlar yapmak. Çizgi, kesim ve doku benim için
temel oluþturuyor. Yaratýcýlýk benim en sevdiðim oyun alaným, sýra dýþý olmaksa vazgeçemeyeceðim oyuncaðým.
ÝEU 'deki eðitimim sayesinde, Ýngilizce'yi ileri düzeyde, Ýtalyanca'yý orta düzeyde kullanabilir hale geldim; ayný
zamanda Photoshop ve Corel Draw gibi grafik programlarýný da üst düzeyde kullanmayý öðrendim.
I was born in Ýzmir, in 1984 where I attended Ýzmir Özel Fatih School. As a child I was always interested in
drawing and painting, and I was fortunate to have a family who encouraged and supported me to
choose a career in fashion design which allowed me to utilize this talent. I am only happy when I am
designing, creating new and different worlds with my own unique identity. Cut, form and texture are all
integral parts of my work. Creativity is my preferred play ground, whereas being different is my favourite
plaything. My education at IUE has also allowed me to develop my language skills; I have attained
advanced level English and intermediate Italian. While at IEU I have also become proficient on various
computer programmes such as Photoshop and Corel Draw.
