High Speed Trains (YHTs) were put into operation between Ankara-Eskişehir-Ankara on
13th March 2009.
There were 8 YHT runs per day on 13th March 2009 initially. The runs were increased to
9 on 6th April 2009 and to 15 on 1st September 2009 and to 20 on 1st July 2010.

Since the opening date of Ankara-Eskisehir section, 7 million 887 thousand passengers
have been transported, which means about 7 thousand passengers have been carried
per day.
The transportation share of TCDD which was % 8 in Ankara-Eskisehir section has
increased to 72 % after YHTs. In addition, connection to Kütahya ( 6 times) by DMU sets
and bus connection to Bursa (14 times) are provided after HSTs.
ANKARA-ESKİŞEHİR YHT OPERATIONS
The transportation to the other cities are provided by YHTs+Conventional Train and
YHTs+Bus connections.
Due to YHTs+Train and YHTs+Bus connections, the travel times are shortened in
Kütahya and Afyon and Bursa.

Following launching of YHT operations between Ankara-Konya, the share of TCDD in
passenger transportation became 65 %.

ESKİSEHİR-KONYA YHT OPERATIONS
Eskişehir –Konya HSL was put into operation on 23rd March 2013. Since the opening of
this line, 60 thousand passengers have been transported.
The travel time between Eskişehir-Konya which was 8 hours by conventional train and
5,5 hours by bus, has been decreased to 2 hours by HSTs.

Kayaş-Kırıkkale (62 km) section was tendered. The tendering process is going on.
The contract was signed for Kırıkkale-Yerköy section (80 km) and the construction works
were started.
99% physical progress has been achieved in the infrastructure construction of 143km of line
section under construction and it will be finished in June.
In other portions of Yerköy- Sivas line section, the construction and tendering process is

Site delivery of Polatlı-Afyonkarahisar section (167 km) was made on 29th June 2012. The construction
works have been started. 7% physical progress has been achieved.
The construction of Afyonkarahisar-Uşak (Eşme) section (178 km) will be tendered in the first half of 2013.
It is currently at the tendering phase.
The tender for final drawing preparation for Eşme-Salihli (70) and Salihli-Manisa (77 km) sections has
been completed.
The infrastructure construction tender of 9km in Manisa-İzmir (35 km) section was made on 8th February
2013.

In Sivas-Erzincan Fast Railway Project, the studies for the preparation of final
drawings are going on. It is aimed to tender the construction of 80km section
from Sivas exit at the end of June following the completion of final drawings.
The remaining 165km section is planned to be completed by the end of this
year.

The signaling project of Afyon-Denizli-Isparta line section (21 stations and 338 km length) will be
achieved by TCDD, TÜBİTAK and İTÜ. This signaling system is aimed to become widespread in
the country.

The total length of tracks to be renewed in 2013 is 1.098 km. 913 km of these
tracks will be renewed by TCDD and 185 km by private sector.

The final drawings and expropriation studies are going on for 7 logistics centers.

İzmir Commuter System between Aliaga-Cumaovası sections was commercially
taken into operation in 2011.
IZBAN/EGERAY IN URBAN TRANSPORT
CUMAOVASI-TEPEKÖY section of 30 km will be put into commercial operation this year.
The number of the carried passengers is
as follows:
• 2010: 2,6 million
• 2011: 35,5 million
• 2012: 50,3 million
• 2013 January-May period: 22,5 million.
İZBAN became the first in the category of «The Best Cooperation» in the campaign «Grow with
Public Transport International Awards» organized by International Association of Public
Transport (UITP) which is the largest association for public transport across the world. Mr.
Süleyman Karaman, Director General of TCDD and Mr. Aziz Kocaoğlu, Mayor of Izmir
Metropolitan Municipality were granted the award together.
Cumaovası-Tepeköy (30 km) section will be put into commercial operation in 2013.
The project of Tepeköy-Selçuk (26 km) section is prepared and it will be tendered.
The tender of constuction works of Aliağa-Bergama (50 km - 3 lines) section will be
carried out in this year.
IZBAN / EGERAY IN URBAN TRANSPORT
COMMUTER TRAIN SETS OFFER A RELIABLE AND QUALIFIED OPERATION.
In EGERAY, the services are provided with
43 train sets, 10 of which are hired from
TCDD, in the sections under operation.
An agreement was signed on 17.03.2012 for
the provision of 40 additional train sets.
These trains will be in service in 2014.

We have applied to Ministry of Development in order to take 106 HST sets in Investment Program
TRAINS ARE LOCALLY MANUFACTURED
Diesel sets “Anadolu” which is the first locally manufactured of Turkey, is
launched to be operated on 30th May 2011 in İzmir-Tire line.
The manufacture of the first locomotive of new generation for the export is
completed on 28th February 2011 by the cooperation of TÜLOMSAŞ and GE.
HAULED STOCK ARE BEING RENEWED
155 coaches are manufactured between 2003-2012 and put into operation.
5.865 freight wagons are manufactured between 2003-2012 and put into
operation.
725 freight wagons will be manufactured in 2013.
