The Proced ure
The Bio-eye orbital implant is surgic ally plac ed within the orbit at the time the
ey e is removed, and the tissues are clos ed over the implant. The implant will not
be seen. A temporary conformer (a clear plastic spacer) is then placed on top of
the tissues covering the implant and under the ey elids to maintain the space for
t h e f u t u r e a r t i ficial eye.
E i g h t w e e k s l ater, a visit is made to an ocularist. This highly skilled specia l i s t
w i l l c r e a t e a d etailed artificial eye; often astonishing in its lifelike appeara n c e
