Bonsai Çin`de başlayan bitki üret- me ve geliştirme sanatıdır. Bitki
The foundation of the art is for the plant owner to strive to make the plant a dwarf-plant and to keep it in that form. The word “bonsai” is originally a Japanese word and has the meaning of “plant or tree that grows in a pot”. “Bon” means pot and “sai” means plant. Trees that would naturally grow in to large trees are trimmed from both the branches and roots to keep them small. The first bonsai tree was a “penjing” mountain tree in China. This form of art began in China approximately 1500 - 2000 years ago, then was further developed in Japan 1200 years ago. Bonsai arrived in Europe about 100 years ago with England being the first to take up this art. Even though Bonsai trees usually feature wild plants that usually grow outside, sometimes it can feature a house plant with the most common type being the Ficus. The Azalea and Sheflera are also common choices for bonsai trees. Traditionally classic bonsais are made from the Japanese Black Pine - Pinus Thunbergii, Pinus merkusii, Pinus Parvifolia, Juniperus chinensis ‘’Shimpaku’’, Acer Palmatum. The art of bonsai has developed a lot in the past 20 years and many other plants have been added to the bonsai family and many techniques have been developed to keep the leaves the same size as the miniature tree. Bonsai’s have become a strong symbol representing the Far East, they are also beautiful additions to room décor in your home. To be able to take care of bonsai’s at home, we must keep in mind that during winter months, bonsai’s prefer cool areas that never get too warm. The ideal area would be a closed balcony where they can receive enough sunlight without being exposed to too much heat. Bonsai’s like to be in a lot of light. If you must keep outside, make sure it receives enough sunlight and is watered appropriately. Bonsai’s are small trees; therefore water given to them from above may not be enough. The best way to water them is to dip the pot in to a bigger container filled with water, keeping it in there for 15 to 20 minutes. Making sure that our plants aren’t in a dry atmosphere is also an important factor. If you have to keep them in a dry area, make sure that you wet and water the leaves every day. Unless absolutely necessary bonsai trees do not require pot changing. Instead, bonsai trees require root trimming and if needed, additions can be made to the soil of the existing pot. The best months to make these changes are November and March. As the plant grows, some stray leaves and branches may grow, it is important to regularly trim these and protect the shape of the bonsai tree. If you need further information or are curious to see different types of Bonsai trees, you are always welcome at Eminağa Garden Center & Café. 1Eylül - 1Kasım, 2014 | PROPERTYNC MAGAZINE | 73 Eminaga - Bonsai.indd 73 20/08/2014 17:21:35
