Peanut Butter and Jelly
“Wake up, Polo!” said Polly, the polar bear. “It’s
mommy’s birthday today. We have to make a
surprise for her.”
“Prize?” said Polo, Polly’s little brother.
“No, surprise!” said Polly. “We’re making her
breakfast in bed.”

Polo got up and followed Polly into the kitchen.
“Hmm,” said Polly. “What can we make?”
“A cake?” said Polo.
“No!” said Polly. “Cake for breakfast? Who has
heard of such a thing? And I can’t hold the mixer
and the bowl at the same time. The mixer would
spin so fast and fall off the table.”
“And SMASH!” said Polo.
“And I can’t use the oven. Mommy always
warns us not to use it,” said Polly.
