The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay
Competition
It is with great pride that we are able to
announce that two MHPS students have been
awarded prizes in the 2015
Commonwealth Essay Competition.
The competition is a world-wide
competition for all Commonwealth nations,
and is organised by the Royal Commonwealth
Society in London. The society endeavours to
promote literacy, expression and creativity
among young people by celebrating
excellence and imagination. The competition is
the world’s oldest and largest international
writing competition, and is run in partnership
with Cambridge University Press.
The Royal Commonwealth Society received
more than 13,000 entries from over 600
schools in 49 Commonwealth countries and
territories. Both the Senior and the Junior
judging panels were impressed by the quality of
the entries.
We would like to congratulate Natalie Chorley
for receiving a GOLD award, and Yunus Utuk
recieving a BRONZE award.
We would further like to congratulate Natalie
for receiving the overall Victorian Award in the
Junior category. Both Natalie and Yunus were
presented with their prize cheques ($150 and
$50 respectively) and certificates by our School
Council President Mr
Perroni at the most
recent school council
meeting.
Well done to both
students – as a school
community we are
extremely proud of your
efforts.

2016 Junior Girls Soccer Program at
MHPS
A fun and relaxed environment for
girls aged 9 – 12 years to learn
and play soccer with friends.
Girls in Years 4 – 6 who would like
to be part of the 2016 Junior Girls Soccer
Program at MHPS will take home the Junior
Girls Soccer Program Postcard and
Registration Form. The Registration Form is
to be completed and returned with payment
to your child’s home group teacher. Free
drink bottle and bag when girls register. The
coaches will be at the school from 3:30pm
for those girls that are coming straight from
class at Meadow Heights Primary School.
A light healthy snack will be provided to the
girls prior to starting. All participants will be
registered as community participants with
Hume City Football Club. This will provide
basic ‘personal injury’ insurance and a
pathway to playing competition football.
WHEN: Term 1: Tuesdays 16 February –
22 March 2016 except Tuesday 23
February (curriculum day)
Term 2: Tuesday 19 April – 17 June 2016

SCHOOL INJURIES AND INSURANCE
Parents and guardians are responsible for
paying the cost of medical treatment for
injured students/children, including transport
costs. Most medical costs will be refundable by Medicare.
If you are a member of an
ambulance or health insurance fund, you may also be able
to claim transport or other expenses from the fund.
The Department of Education and Training does not hold
accident insurance for school students.
Community Hub: Breakfast Club &
Toast Friday
We need a helping hand. Volunteers are needed!!!
Breakfast Morning: Mondays & Wednesdays 8:20 – 8:45 am
Toast Friday: Fridays 8:20 – 8:45 am
To start off the day students, families and staff are invited to the MHPS
Community Hub for a nutritious breakfast (Mondays & Wednesdays)
and toast (Fridays). Come along, join in the fun and help us out.

Ebeveynler ve veliler yaralanan çocukları için tıbbı tedavi masrafları ve nakliye da dahil ödemekle yükümlüdür.
Çoğunlukla tıbbi masrafları Medicare tarafından iade olacaktır. Bir ambulans veya sağlık sigortası üyesi iseniz, taşıma veya diğer masraflarını talep
etmek mümkün olabilir.
Okul Eğitim ve Öğretim Bölümü öğrencileri için kaza sigortası bulunmamaktadır.
GENÇ KIZLAR FUTBOL TAKIMI MEADOW HEİGHTS İLKÖĞRETİM OKULDA
9 ve 12 yaş arası (4 ve 6 sınıflar için) kızlar için futbol programı olucak. Çocuklarınız program ve kayıt formu eve getirmişlerdır.
Kayıt formu doldurup çocuğunuzun öğretmenini teslim etmelisiniz. Kayıt olan her öğrenciye bedava su şişe ve çanta verilicek.
Antrenörler 3:30dan sonra okulda olucak. Meadow Heights okuldan gelen kızlar direk sınıfından gelebilirler. Hafif, sağlıklı atıştırma sağlanacaktır. Tüm
kızlar Hume City Football Club kayıt olucaklar.

lunch will consist of 2 slices of pizza, popcorn and a fruit drink at a cost of $5.00.
Order forms and money must be returned to school by Thursday 25th February in the Morning only/am.
No late orders will be accepted as all orders need to be placed with suppliers.
