The Young Photographers Award was established by Haluk Soykan in 2010 to encourage and support undergraduate students of photography in Turkey. The program is administered by the Moon and Stars Project of The American Turkish Society based in New York City and is made possible by a grant from Young Photographers Award Fund established by the donors at Turkish Philanthropy Funds. The exhibition featuring selected works from 18 participating students will be available for viewing at Elipsis Gallery in Istanbul on November 12‐26. A winner and two honorable mentions were selected by Anne Havinga, Yousuf and Estrellita Karsh Senior Curator of Photographs, and Karen Haas, Lane Curator of Photographs, both from the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Winner of this year’s Young Photographers Award is Osman Demir of Mimar Sinan University, who was awarded $5,000 for his photography work. Two honorable mentions were also named, who received $2,500 each. They are Çağın Coşkunırmak of Akdeniz University and Melih Cevdet Teksen of Kocaeli University.
