SUPERLATIVE FORM OF ADJECTIVES
(SIFATLARIN EN ÜSTÜNLÜK DERECES!)
Sıfat tek heceli ise superlative(en üstünlük) şeklinde sıfatın başına The sonuna “-est”
alır. Comparative’de “daha” anlamı varken, superlative’de “en” anlamı vardır.
Mary is taller than Tom.
Mary; Tom’dan daha uzun boyludur.
Susan is the oldest of all the students.
Suzan öğencilerin en yaşlısıdır.
Erzurum is colder than Adana.
Erzurum, Adanadan daha soğuktur.
My hair is longer than your hair.

“-er” veya “est” bazı iki heceli sıfatlarada ilave edilebilir ( Özellikle sonu “-er,-ow,

Sonu -y ile bitip bir önceki harf sessiz ise -y düşürülüp comparative (üstünlük) şeklinde
-ier,superlative şeklinde ise -iest sıfatın sonuna eklenir.
Tom’s car is larger than Helena’s car.
Tom’un arabası Helena’nın arabasından daha büyüktür.
iki sessiz harf arasında kısa bir sesli bulunan tek heceli sıfatların Comparative ve
Superlative şeklinde son harf tekrarlanıpdaha sonra -er,-est eklenir.

Two-Three syllable adjectives
Comparative form iki nesne arasında farkları anlatmak için kullanılır. iki ve daha

fazla heceli sıfatların comparative halini oluşturmak için sıfatın başına more getirilir.
Örnek:
London is more exciting than Ankara
Londra, Ankara’dan daha heyecanlıdır.
Superlative form ise üç veya daha fazla şey hakkında konuşurken “en” uzun, “en”
kısa gibi ifadelerle bir tanesini ayırmak için kullanılır. iki ve daha fazla heceli sıfatların
superlative halini oluşturmak için sıfatın başına the most getirilir.

New York Amerika’nın en heyecan verici şehridir.
Hande is more beautiful than Hatice.
Hande Hatice’den daha güzeldir.

Şu Anda ya da Gelecekte Doğru Olmayan
Type 2 Hayali fiart” olarak ta isimlendirilmektedir. Geçmiş zaman kullanılmasına
rağmen aslında geçmiş zamandan bahsedilmemektedir. Bu nedenle gerçek olmayan
geçmiş diye adlandırılmıştır.
En yaygın kullanım şşekli:
