*16th-20th centuries minstrels tales such as Aşık Garip,
Köroğlu, Tahir and Zühre, Sürmeli Bey, Kurbani and Peri, Elif
and Mahmut, Seyfülmülük Hikayeleri, Asuman and Zeycan,
Kerem and Aslı etc.
*The collected works of Turkish minstrel tale telling tradition
in terms of their content, performance, function, structure,
language and manner; briefly deals with one of the most
important entertaining products of hictorical oral cultural
contexts which were created in verse and prose.

Course Contents
In this lesson besides biological gender notion, social gender,
encoding body of woman and man, gender roles, division of
labour dependent on gender, similarities and differences between
genders, sexual morality, sense of love and beauty will be
discussed. Theoric knowledge will be analysed on the examples
selected from written, visual and auditory media such as series,
cinema, advertisement, cartoon, etc.

evaluate the term “culture” from a different point of wiev.

Course Contents
In this lesson, humor will be assessed in a wide perspective which is
based on an infrastructure that has been created by scanning the
theoretical studies of humor world literatures and their original sources
and ranges from phallus songs that were sung and accepted as symbols
of abundance, prosperity, and entertainments in the feasts of Ancient
Greek to the usage of humor as a consumption object in the modern
world of 21st century.

At the end of this lesson, studens will learn that while the humor is a
mere entertainment tool in a superficial manner, it’s also
fundamentally a serious phenomenon contains cognitive, intellectual,
critical, social and emotional aspects and is located in the center of
human life with its economic, political, social, and cultural dimensions
that form a wide perspective.
