Historically, Gaziantep
was an important stop on
the Silk Road. It is
connected by road to
Adana, Mersin and
Antakya via Osmaniye, to
Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır and
Mardin by the Birecik
bridge, and to Aleppo in
Syria via Kilis. The
Gaziantep-İskenderunAdana-Tarsus-MersinPozantı TAG highway is
now open. From Istanbul,
the route to Gaziantep is
via Ankara, Aksaray,
Adana-Pozantı and
Osmaniye. There are
regular services from the
Gaziantep Bus Station to
the surrounding cities as
well as Istanbul, Ankara
and Izmir. Buses to the
