Qualification System
D.1.
D.1. Olympic Quota Allocation List
Men:
Parallel Giant
Slalom: 32
Halfpipe: 30
Snowboard
Cross: 40
Slopestyle / Big
Air: 40
Quota places per NOC with athletes that are eligible will be allocated according to the above
number of participants per event defined in B.1, using the Olympic Quota Allocation List
which contains an addition of the FIS World Cup points per event per gender from 1 July
2016 until 21 January 2018 and the FIS Snowboard World Championship 2017 rankings.
The same points’ calculation as for the World Cup will be used. In the case of Big Air, only
an athlete’s top best 4 World Cup results will be considered, in addition to the athlete’s
points obtained at the Big Air FIS Snowboard World Championships 2017.
Women:
Parallel Giant
Slalom: 32
Halfpipe: 24
Snowboard
Cross: 30
Slopestyle / Big
Air: 30
The allocation will be made by assigning one (1) quota place per athlete, including the host
country quota place, from the top of the Olympic Quota Allocation List downwards until the
maximum total quotas per event in Parallel Giant Slalom, Halfpipe, Snowboard Cross,
Slopestyle/ Big Air*, per gender is reached.
Once a NOC has achieved the maximum number of four (4) places its remaining athletes
will no longer be counted and the next eligible NOC on the Olympic Quota Allocation List will
be allocated a place.
If there is a tie for the final allocated quota place(s) on either the male or female Olympic
Quota Allocation Lists, the athlete with best ranking on the FIS points list published on 22
January will be ranked ahead. If still tied, the athletes will be ranked according to their
st
nd
rd
number of World Cup and World Championship (1 place, 2 place, 3 place, etc.) in the
respective event during the Olympic qualification period.
In case a NOC is allocated quotas in the individual events that total more than the maximum
of 26 athletes, it is up to the NOC to select a maximum of 26 (maximum 14 per gender)
athletes across the various events from 22 – 24 January 2018 when NOCs confirm use of
allocated quota places to FIS (see F. Qualification Timeline). The returned quota places in
the respective events will then be reallocated according to E. Reallocation of Unused Quota
Places.
* Slopestyle and Big Air are calculated as one event.
HOST COUNTRY PLACES
If the host nation has not earned at least one (1) quota place in an event, one (1) athlete per event will be
permitted to enter within the respective event’s overall maximum quota providing that the athlete is eligible
according to C.1.
All athletes must have been entered as part of the NOC Quota. The above quotas will be allocated on 22
January 2018 in accordance with F. Qualification Timeline. The Korean NOC is required to confirm its use of
allocated quota places to FIS on 22-24 January 2018.
