Course Catalogue: Please ask for the course list for each semester. You can also refer to our online
course catalogue (please click the link). International students are advised to take the courses
“Recommended for International Students” Turkish Language for Foreigners TK 111-112.
Visa Issues: An acceptance letter shall be issued to all incoming LIU students. Before your departure to
Turkey:
Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises you to visit and consult with the nearest Consulate/ Embassy
in your home country regarding your visa type. The Consulate will decide on your visa type, then you will
make your application accordingly.
After your arrival to Turkey
Step 1: Please be present on the Orientation day. We will be providing a presentation to all students
regarding the procedures in detail of how to obtain your residence permit. This is a very important and
complex process to complete and we will be here to assist you in the process.
Step 2: After your registration at BILGI, you’ll be provided BILGI Student Certification in Turkish.
Step 3: Obtaining a residence permit, in at least 30 days after your arrival to Turkey is a mandatory
process.
A Residence Permit is an official document stating registration with the Directorate of Security (Emniyet
Müdürlüğü). You get an online appointment for residence permit application from this link.
Step 4: You will need a Tax ID number to be able to complete your health insurance application. You can
get your tax number from the Tax offices. All you need is your passport and a photocopy of the ID
information page with your photograph on it.

Step 5: Purchase a health insurance. One of the requirements to obtain a residence permit is to have
health insurance in Turkey (not in your home country). All incoming students must purchase a health
insurance. (If you already have an insurance in your home country, you can use it in Turkey as a support
insurance.

Language requirement: Since education at BILGI is in English, all incoming students are required to
possess sufficient language proficiency to attend classes in English. General terms are for all prospective
BILGI students are to complete English Prep School or get 5.5 score from IELTS and/or 68 from TOEFL
IBT. The prospective LIU exchange student is not obliged to prove any of this documentation but the
home admission office can interview and clarify their competency in communicating through English.
Accommodation: Beginning with the 2014-2015 academic year, special agreements have been enacted
with dormitory establishments in compliance with BİLGİ standards. For more information and prices
