This course builds on students` previous experience with Turkish, adding to it more language rules,
more vocabulary and more sentence structure as necessary, enabling them to read, write, listen and
speak at a higher level within the context of daily situations.

19. Course aims and outcomes:
A- Aims:
A1. Developing all main four skills built on students` previous experience with Turkish
A2. Adding to them more language rules, more vocabulary and more sentence structure as
necessary
A3. Enabling them to read, write, listen and speak at a higher level within the context of daily
situations.
A4. Develop students’ abilities to read, understand, write in Turkish, translate the simple
sentences from Turkish to their native language
A5. Use these abilities in practise effectively.
B- Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs): Upon successful completion of this course students will be able

B4. pronounce correctly and write what they see and hear
B5. discover common words in both languages
B6. recognize the both basic and complicated elements of a sentence; write compositions in class
or outside of classes
B7. recognize some similarities and differences between the Turkish language and their native

B8. read and understand the Turkish language
B9. study vocabulary and build up sentences
B10. speak simple sentences out loud
B11. write simple Turkish passages
B12. know about the customs and lifestyle of Turkish people who are sharing the same spiritual

21. Teaching Methods and Assignments:
Development of ILOs is promoted through the following teaching and learning methods:
Primarily communicative approach will be applied and encourage the students to speak. Group work,
role play, dictation will be done. Developing for skills will be the main concern.

A- Attendance policies:
Only the number of absences allowed by the university is accepted. Low attendance influences the participation
mark (An absent student cannot participate).
B- Absences from exams and handing in assignments on time:
Mid-term and finals can be made up with an official excuse. Quizzes can never be made up no matter how justified
your absence was.
