FACILITIES
The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Center of Philadelphia’s
Jimmy Moran Competition Pool is a 10-lane, competition-grade
pool. Our facilities include a 6-foot deep, stainless steel Myrtha
Pool®, 25-yard by 25-meter lanes, starting platforms, non-turbulent
lane markers, and an in-water sound system. The pool is 6’ deep at
both ends of the pool. The pool is equipped with a Colorado System
5 Timing System with Full Matrix Display. The facility offers ADAaccessible spectator seating and is capable of seating up to 300
guests; additional seating space is available via poolside bleachers
that can accommodate swimmers and coaches on deck. Free parking,
concession stands, and a swim equipment vendor are available. The
competition course has been certified in accordance with
104.2.2C(4). The copy of such certification is on file with USA
Swimming.
TEAM CHALLENGE
We are asking all teams to donate unwrapped unused toys to the
Salvation Army Toy Drive. A special trophy will be awarded to the
team that donates the most toys.

ELIGIBILITY
ENTRY
LIMITATIONS
This meet is open to all swimmers registered with USA Swimming.
Swimmer’s age as of December 13, 2013 will apply for the entire
meet for all swimmers. Relay swimmers must be entered in at least 1
event on the day of the relay to be eligible to compete in the relay.
On-site registrations will not be accepted at this meet. Each
swimmer must be registered through his/her LSC prior to
competition.
The Meet Director reserves the right to limit entries, events or heats,
or to modify the meet format to conform to Middle Atlantic rules.
Swimmers/teams eliminated from the meet due to time or space
constraints will be given a full refund. Prompt notification will be
made to swimmers or teams if changes impact their entries.
Swimmers (ages 11 & older) may swim in three (3) individual
events and one (1) relay per session, but not to exceed a total of
four (4) events per day. Swimmers (ages 9 – 10) may swim four
(4) individual events and one (1) relay per session.
ADAPTED
SWIMMING
Swimmers with a disability are welcome to enter this meet. The
coach or team entry person must alert the Meet Director and the Meet
Referee as to the need for any special accommodations or seeding
arrangements at the time the entry is submitted.
ORDER OF EVENTS
See attached sheet listing the order of events, event numbers, the
starting times for each session, and the warm-up schedule.
WARM-UP & START
TIME
Team lane assignments, warm-up schedule, and positive check-in
times will be emailed and posted on maswim.org. Circle swimming
only during warm-up, except supervised diving in designated sprint
lanes. When diving is permitted, swimmers must enter from the
starting blocks and exit from the opposite end of the pool.
DECK ENTRIES
Subject to space availability, and at the discretion of the Meet
Director, deck entries will be accepted on the day of the meet, prior
to the start of each session, at the cost of $8.00 per individual event
and $16.00 per relay event. Swimmers not previously entered in the
meet must provide proof of current USA Swimming registration.
Deck-entered swimmers will compete unofficially; the achieved time
is official, but will not score in the meet for points or awards. To
enter, please see the Meet Director before or during warm-ups.
SWIMMERS
WITHOUT A COACH
Swimmers unaccompanied by a credentialed coach should report to
the Meet Director before the warm-up for each session.
Any swimmer entered in the meet, unaccompanied by a USA
Swimming member coach, must be certified by a USA Swimming
member coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or
must start each race from the water. It is the responsibility of the
swimmer or the swimmer’s legal guardian to ensure compliance with
this requirement.
SEEDING
All 9/10 events are timed finals. All other events in this meet are
Prelim/Final events except the Relay events, unless otherwise noted.
The Relay events are timed finals with the top 8 seeded relay teams
swimming in finals. All events are pre-seeded except the 500 Free
and the 400 IM. These events will be seeded after a positive checkin. All non-conforming times will be seeded in accordance with USA
Swimming Rulebook section207.5.10B (1) and (2) on nonconforming times as follows:
Seeded First – Short Course yard times
Seeded Next – Long Course meter times
Seeded Last - Short Course meter times
500 Free / 400 IM – The top 30 swimmers, after positive check-in,
will compete in the respective events. Swimmers in the 500 Free are
responsible for providing their own lap counter.
11 & 12 Yr Old 200 Back, Fly, Breast – These events will be a
timed final event. They will not compete in these events in the
evening session.
Finals –
Open Events: B-Finals followed by A-Finals
13-14 Events: B-Finals followed by A-Finals
11-12 Events: B-Finals followed by A-Finals
500 FREE & 400IM (all ages): A Final only
SCRATCH POLICY
Any swimmer who does not swim a pre-seeded preliminary or a preseeded timed-final event will not be penalized. Any swimmer who
positively checks in for a deck-seeded event and does not swim that
event will be barred from their next individual event, either on the
same or next meet day.
Any swimmer who qualifies for A-Finals or B-Finals in a
Prelim/Final event and does not swim at Finals will be barred from
his/her next event (including relays), unless the swimmer has either
scratched or indicated their possible intention to scratch within thirty
(30) minutes of the announcement of the preliminary results of that
event and confirmed their intention to scratch with thirty (30)
minutes of the announcement of the preliminary results of that
swimmer’s last individual event at the preliminary session.
A swimmer who does not confirm his/her intention will be seeded
into the event. Swimmers who are initially announced as alternates
for final heats will not be penalized.

Electronic entries in a Hy-Tek Team Manager entry file are
preferred.

2. A Team Manager report by sorted by swimmer name.
3. In the body of your e-mail, provide the number of girls, boys and
entries.
4. Include contact information (name, address, phone and cell
phone).

Include a Printed Report of Entries and the Meet Summary Form
from this packet.
Checks must arrive by Friday December 6, 2013.
Entries may be sent on a CD. Include a Team Manager report by
entry, the SAKA Meet Summary Form and your payment.
If a Hy-Tek file is not possible, entries may be sent in using the
SAKA Meet Entry Form(s). As per Middle Atlantic rules, a $15 per
swimmer fee will be charged to all entries submitted on paper rather
than electronically. An additional $25 per swimmer fee will be
charged to any team submitting manual entries for more than 5
swimmers. We have information on the final page of this meet
information about a Hy-tek product that is FREE (TM –Lite). This
product will assist you in completing your electronic entry.
A completed Meet Summary Sheet MUST accompany each team’s
entry.
Times must be submitted in the course in which they were achieved;
non-conforming times will be seeded according to USA Swimming
rules. Swimmers must have a minimum of a valid USS “B” Standard
time in an event to be entered in that event.
ENTRY FEES
Entry Fee is $4.00 per individual event and $8.00 for a relay. There
is a $15 per swimmer for any entry not submitted electronically.
There is a $25 per swimmer surcharge for submission of 5 or more
swimmers on a manual entry.

ENTRY DEADLINE
RULES
Entries must be received no later than Friday, November 29, 2013 at
12:00 PM. No late entries will be accepted.
This meet will be conducted according to current USA Swimming
rules. Middle Atlantic Swimming rules shall also apply. USA
SWIMMING / MA SWIMMING SAFETY GUIDELINES AND
WARM-UP PROCEDURES WILL BE IN EFFECT FOR THE
ENTIRE MEET. Only currently credentialed coaches, USA
Swimming registered athletes, and essential meet personnel will be
permitted on deck.
This meet will be conducted using the whistle command and norecall false start procedures.
Entries submitted must be swimmer’s best verifiable USA
Swimming time. Entry of time other than swimmer’s best for any
event may result in the swimmer’s suspension from competition for a
minimum of 3 months, but not more than 1 year.
'Fly-over' starts will be used at this meet for all sessions. All
swimmers (except for Backstroke starts) should remain in the water
at the completion of their race until the next heat has begun.
SCORING &
AWARDS
The top 16 places in each event will score.
The Men’s, Women’s, and Combined Team High Point Scores will
each receive a trophy.
High point awards & high point runner-up will receive a trophy for
each age group.
Individual event: Medals: 1st – 3rd and Ribbons 4th – 8th
Relays events: Medals 1st – 3rd and Ribbons 4th – 8th
PROGRAMS &
ADMISSION
An $8.00 Admission Fee will be charged for admission each day of
the meet. Children 6 yrs old and under are free; all others will be
charged admission. A limited number of heat sheets will be available
at no charge on a first-come, first-served basis.

NOTIFICATION
In granting this sanction, it is understood and agreed that USA
Swimming shall be free from any liabilities or claims for damages
arising by reason of injuries to anyone during the conduct of this
event.

Results will be emailed to all registered coaches and posted on the
Middle Atlantic website at www.maswim.org.

INFORMATION

Chairs will be allowed on deck.
The Salvation Army Kroc Center has an indoor water park,
with 2 lap swimming lanes. Swimmers will be allowed to
warm up/warm down in the lap lanes between events. No
swimmer will be allowed beyond the lap lanes into the Water
Park Area. Entering the Water Park Area will subject the
swimmer to immediate removal from the remainder of the
meet.
There is limited parking in the Salvation Army Kroc Center
parking lot, as well as the overflow parking lot across the
street; guests are also encouraged to park along Wissahickon
Avenue (street parking is allowed).
The use of audio or visual recording devices, including cell
phone, is not permitted in changing areas, rest rooms, or
locker rooms.
Changing into or out of swimsuits other than in locker rooms
or other designated areas is not appropriate and is prohibited.
A spectator overflow room will be set up in the Wells Fargo
Conference Area.
