The consortium including Özaltın has won the tender for the Gebze - Orhangazi - İzmir
(Including İzmit Bay Crossing and Connecting Roads) Highway Build - Operate - Transfer
Project which will reduce land transport between İstanbul and İzmir to 3,5 hours, who bid
the shortest construction and operation period.

Considering the Bay crossing according to the alternatives to
the transportation, it has been founded that it takes only 6 minutes
to cross the Bay by bridge, while it takes 1 hour and 10 minutes to
cross the Bay using the existing road (along the Bay) by car and

The existing highways
The start point for the Build-Operate-Transfer Project of Gebze – Orhangazi – İzmir (İzmit Bay Crossing Bridge
and Connecting Roads) is Gebze, and the Highway crossing İzmit Bay on a Suspension Bridge, of which the
distance is app. 3000 m and the main span is 1700 m between Dilovası and Hersek Cape, passes by the
vicinity of Orhangazi and Gemlik and connected to the Bursa Expressway by Ovaakça road junction. When it is
completed, the second longest suspension bridge in the world will have been constructed under this project.
The Highway begins from Karacabey road junction following Bursa Expressway, of which construction has been
completed, and passes by the east of Uluabat Lake, the south of Mustafakemalpaşa and the north of Susurluk,
and therefore, arrives at Balıkesir. When it arrives at Balıkesir, it directs its course to the South from the west
of Balıkesir, and moves on in parallel with the state highway of İzmir-Uşak, and connected to the Anadolu Lisesi
