General Characteristics of Kocatepe Shipyard
Situation, History
Following their father, board of Kocatepe Shipyard has started
performing this job in 1974 and two brothers have started their
activities as a repair and new building sub-contractor firm at Tuzla,at
Halic and at Ayvansaray district. Their first shipyard has been
established in 1996 at Tuzla Shipyards Region in İstanbul under the
Name of Kocatepe Shipyard . Kocatepe family has kept the shipyard
in Tuzla Region in between 1996 and 2008. They have built 20 pcs
miscellenaous sized vessels and repaired many of vessels in their own
shipyard.
Kocatepe family has decided to hand over shipyard and to continue
their work at Altınova/Yalova Shipyards Region . They have
established a new shipyard in 2008 in the place where it is now.
Kocatepe Shipyard covers 52000 sqm area and has 140 m waterfront ,
one slipway in size of 170 m x 50 m(up to 40.000 DWT Tankers) ,
one quay under construction in size of 100 m x 12 m for ship repairs
and outfitting, (CAD/CAM) systems for steel cutting files , solution
partnership on design works with Delta Marine Company , modern
machinery and various work shops. Our annual steel processing
capacity is 12.000 tons. Launching procedure is carried out by using
shipyard’s own air balloons.

Our main asset is our people. Our management team, engineers and
workers, put Kocatepe Shipyard to leading and pioneering position in
ship building and ship repair in Turkey.
Our integrated management system (IMS) comprised of applications
of ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System and this enables us to
fulfill the requirements of our customers. Our well known reputation
bases on quality and reliability of our performance. We deliver vessels
not only for domestic market but also for export. We are the first and
most experienced shipyard in the area succesfully conducted
shipbuilding transactions for years.
Many substructe works are under progress in shipyard to develop
processing capacity.

We can deliver modern tankers, multipurpose dry cargo and container
vessels, cement carriers, off shore supply vessels (OSP), fishing
vessel, mega yachts, special purpose military and commercial vessels,
barges and pontoons up to 30.000 dwt in compliance with
specifications of customers and rules of international class societies of
highest standards in shortest delivery time and at competitive prizes.
We are very flexible to deliver vessels in different conditions to meet
the requirement of our customers. Including turn-key projects, we can
also deliver partially out-fitted vessels, steel hulls (casco) etc.
Recently, similar to other business areas, in shipbuilding and repair,
there is a great competition in-land and internationally.
Notwithstanding low costs, great expectations are also for the highest
quality and earliest deliveries and consistency of production depends
on the satisfaction of the client. Kocatepe Shipyard takes ‘consistent
development’ seriously by following up-to-date technology. Thus all
departments are strictly stuck by the IMS (Integrated Management
System) directives.
The IMS policy is based on; not conceding from the quality,
increasing the efficiency, providing profit in investments as the first
goal of the company, avoiding or at least minimizing the re-work and
preventing of all professional illnesses, accidents, loss and
environmental pollution by applying all the related laws, regulations
and standards regarding the environment, work safety and workers’
health.
