ْ ِ‫ب‬
ِ ‫هللاِ ال هر ْح َم ِن ال هر ِح‬
bis-mill¡hir-ra¦manir-ra¦¢m
In the Name of Allah, the All-merciful, the All-compassionate
‫ش ْيٍء‬
َ ‫س َعتْ ُك هل‬
ْ َ‫الله ُه هم إِنِّي أ‬
ِ ‫سألُكَ بِ َر ْح َمتِ َك الهتِي َو‬
allahumma in-n¢ as-aluka bi-ra¦-matikal-lat¢ wasi`at kul-l¡ shay
O Allah, I ask You by Your mercy, which embraces all things;
‫ش ْيٍء‬
َ ‫َوبِقُ هوتِ َك الهتِي قَ َه ْر َت بِ َها ُك هل‬
wa bi-q£-watikal-lat¢ qahar-ta bih¡ kul-l¡ shay
And by Your strength, through which You dominate all things,
‫ش ْيٍء‬
َ ‫ض َع لَ َها ُك ُّل‬
َ ‫َو َخ‬
wa kha¤a`a lah¡ kul-lu shay
And toward which all things are humble
‫ش ْيٍء‬
َ ‫َو َذ هل لَ َها ُك ُّل‬
wa dhal-l¡ lah¡ kul-lu shay
And before which all things are lowly;
‫ش ْيٍء‬
َ ‫َوبِ َجب ُروتِ َك اله ِتي َغلَ ْب َت بِ َها ُك هل‬
wa bi-jabar£tikal-lat¢ ghalab-ta bih¡ kul-l¡ shay
And by Your invincibility through which You overwhelm all things,
‫ش ْيء‬
َ ‫َوبِ ِع هزتِكَ اله ِتي ال يَقُو ُم لَ َها‬
wa bi`izzatikal-lat¢ l¡ yaq£mu lah¡ shay
And by Your might, which nothing can resist;
‫ش ْيٍء‬
َ ‫َوبِ َعظَ َمتِ َك اله ِتي َمألَتْ ُك هل‬
wa bi`a¨amatikal-lat¢ mala-at kul-l¡ shay
And by Your tremendousness, which has filled all things;
‫ش ْيٍء‬
َ ‫س ْلطَانِ َك اله ِذي َعالَ ُك هل‬
ُ ِ‫َوب‬
wa bisul-§¡nikal-ladh¢ `al¡ kul-l¡ shay
by Your force, which towers over all things;

‫ش ْيٍء‬
َ ‫َوبِ َو ْج ِه َك ا ْلبَا ِقي بَ ْع َد فَنَا ِء ُك ِّل‬
wa bi-waj-hikal-b¡q¢ ba`da fan¡-i kul-li shay
And by Your face, which subsists after the annihilation of all things,
‫ش ْيٍء‬
َ ‫ان ُك ِّل‬
َ ‫س َمائِكَ اله ِتي َمألَتْ أَ ْر َك‬
ْ َ ‫َوبِأ‬
wa bi-as-m¡-ikal-lat¢ malat ar-k¡na kul-li shay
And by Your Names, which have filled the foundations of all things;
‫ش ْيٍء‬
َ ‫َوبِ ِع ْل ِم َك اله ِذي أَ َحاطَ بِ ُك ِّل‬
wa bi`il-mikal-ladh¢ a¦¡§a bikul-li shay
And by Your knowledge, which encompasses all things;
‫ش ْيٍء‬
َ ‫ضا َء لَهُ ُك ُّل‬
َ َ‫َوبِنُو ِر َو ْج ِه َك اله ِذي أ‬
wa bi-n£ri waj-hikal-ladh¢ a¤¡-a lahu kul-lu shay
And by the light of Your face, through which all things are illumined!
‫ُّوس‬
ُ ‫يَا نُو ُر يَا قُد‬
y¡ n£ru y¡ qud-d£s
O Light! O All-holy!
‫ين‬
َ ِ‫يَا أَ هو َل األَ هول‬
y¡ aw-walal-aw-wal¢n
O First of those who are first
‫ين‬
َ ‫اآلخ ِر‬
ِ ‫آخ َر‬
ِ ‫َويَا‬
wa y¡ ¡-khiral-¡-khir¢n
And O Last of those who are last!
ُّ ‫الله ُه َم ا ْغفِ ْر لِي‬
‫ص َم‬
َ ‫وب الهتِي تَهتِ ُك ا ْل ِع‬
َ ُ‫الذن‬
allahumma-igh-fir liyadh-dhun£bal-lat¢ tah-tikul`i¥am
O Allah, forgive me those sins which tear apart safeguards!
ُّ ‫الله ُه َم ا ْغفِ ْر لِي‬
‫وب الهتِي تُ ْن ِز ُل النِّقَ َم‬
َ ُ‫الذن‬
allahumma-igh-fir liyadh-dhun£bal-lat¢ tunzilun-niqam
O Allah, forgive me those sins which draw down adversities!
ُّ ‫الله ُه َم ا ْغفِ ْر لِي‬
‫وب الهتِي تُغيِّ ُر النِّ َع َم‬
َ ُ‫الذن‬
allahumma-igh-fir liyadh-dhun£bal-lat¢ tughy-yirun-ni`am
O Allah, forgive me those sins which alter blessings!

‫س ال ُّد َعا َء‬
ُ ‫وب الهتِي ت َْح ِب‬
َ ُ‫الذن‬
allahumma-igh-fir liyadh-dhun£bal-lat¢ ta¦-bisud-du’¡
O Allah forgive me those sins which hold back supplication!
ُّ ‫الله ُه هم ا ْغفِ ْر لِي‬
‫وب الهتِي تَ ْقطَ ُع ال هرٍ ٍَ َجا َء‬
َ ُ‫الذن‬
allahumma-igh-fir liyadh-dhun£bal-lat¢ taq-§au'r-raj¡
O Allah forgive me those sins which cut down the hopes!
ُّ ‫الله ُه هم ا ْغفِ ْر لِي‬
‫وب الهتِي تُ ْن ِز ُل البَال َء‬
َ ُ‫الذن‬
allahumma-igh-fir liyadh-dhun£bal-lat¢ tunzilul-bal¡
O Allah, forgive me those sins which draw down tribulation!
‫الله ُه هم ا ْغفِ ْر لِي ُك هل َذ ْنب أَ ْذنَ ْبتُهُ َو ُك هل َخ ِطيئَة أَ ْخطَأْتُ َها‬
allahumma-igh-fir liya kul-l¡ dham-bin adhnabtuhu wa kul-l¡ kha§¢-atin akh§atuh¡
O Allah, forgive me every sin I have committed and every mistake I have made!
َ‫ب إِلَ ْيكَ بِ ِذ ْك ِرك‬
ُ ‫الله ُه هم إِنِّي أَتَقَ هر‬
allahumma inn¢ ataqarrabu ilayka bi-dhik-rik
O Allah, verily I seek nearness to You through remembrance of You,
ْ َ‫ست‬
َ‫سك‬
ْ َ‫َوأ‬
ِ ‫شفِ ُع بِكَ إِلَي نَ ْف‬
wa as-tash-fiu' bika il¡ naf-sik
And I seek intercession from You with Yourself,
َ‫سألُكَ بِ ُجو ِدكَ أَن تُ ْدنِيَ ِني ِمن قُ ْربِك‬
ْ َ‫َوأ‬
wa as-aluka bi-j£dika an tud-ni-yan¢ min qur-bik
And I ask You through Your munificence to bring me near to Your proximity,
َ‫ش ْك َرك‬
ُ ‫َوأَن تُو ِز َعنِي‬
wa an t£zi`an¢ shuk-rak
And to provide me with gratitude toward You
َ‫َوأَن تُ ْل ِه َمنِي ِذ ْك َرك‬
wa an tul-himan¢ dhik-rak
And to inspire me with Your remembrance.

‫سا ِم َحنِي َوت َْر َح َمنِي‬
ْ َ‫الله ُه هم إِنِّي أ‬
ُ َ‫سألُك‬
َ ُ‫اشع أَن ت‬
ِ ‫اضع ُّمتَ َذلِّل َخ‬
ِ ‫سؤَا َل َخ‬
allahumma in-n¢ as-luka su¡la kh¡¤ii'm-mutadhal-lilin kh¡-shii'n an tus¡mi¦an¢
wa tar-¦aman¢
O Allah, verily I ask You with the asking of a submissive, abased and lowly man to show me
forbearance, to have mercy on me
ً ‫اضعا‬
َ َ‫َوت َْجعلَنِي بِق‬
ِ ‫يع األَ ْح َواِل ُمتَ َو‬
ِ ‫س ِمكَ َر‬
ِ ‫ َوفِي َج ِم‬،ً‫اضيا ً قَانِعا‬
wa taj-`alan¢ bi-qasamika r¡¤iyan q¡ni`n wa f¢ jam¢i'l-a¦-w¡li mutaw¡¤i`a¡
And to make me satisfied and content with Your appointment and [make me] humble in every state.
ْ ‫سؤَا َل َم ِن ا‬
ْ َ‫الله ُه هم َوأ‬
ُ‫شتَدهتْ فَاقَتُه‬
ُ َ‫سألُك‬
allahumma wa as-aluka su¡la manish-tad-dat f¡qatuh
O Allah, I ask You the question of one whose indigence is extreme,
‫َوأَن َز َل بِ َك ِع ْن َد ال ه‬
ُ‫اجتَه‬
َ ‫ش َدائِ ِد َح‬
wa anzala bika i'ndash-shad¡-idi ¦¡jatahu
And who has stated to You in difficulties his need
ُ‫َو َعظُ َم فِي َما ِع ْن َد َك َر ْغبَتُه‬
wa `a¨uma f¢m¡ i'ndaka ragh-batuhu
And whose desire for what is with You has become great.
َ‫س ْلطَانُ َك َو َعالَ َم َكانُك‬
ُ ‫الله ُه هم َعظُ َم‬
allahumma `a¨uma sul-§¡nuka wa `al¡ mak¡nuk
O Allah, Your force is tremendous, Your place is lofty,
َ‫َو َخفِي َم ْك ُركَ َوظَ َه َر أَ ْم ُرك‬
wa khafiya mak-ruka wa¨ahara am-ruk
And Your deception is hidden, Your command is manifest,
َ‫َو َغلَ َب قَ ْه ُركَ َو َج َرتْ قُد َْرتُك‬
wa ghalaba qah-ruka wa jarat qud-ratuk
And Your domination is overwhelming, Your power is unhindered
َ‫َوال يُ ْم ِك ُن ا ْلفِ َرا ُر ِمنْ ُح ُكو َمتِك‬
wa-l¡ yum-kinul-fir¡ru min ¦uk£-matik
And escape from Your governance is impossible.
ً‫الله ُه هم ال أَ ِج ُد لِ ُذنُوبِي َغافِرا‬
allahumma l¡ ajidu lidhun£b¢ gh¡fira
O Allah, I find no forgiver of my sins,

ً‫سا ِترا‬
َ ‫هوال لِقَبَائِ ِحي‬
wa-l¡ liqab¡-i¦¢ s¡tira
Nor concealer of my ugly acts
َ‫س ِن ُمبَ ِّدالً َغ ْي َرك‬
َ ِ‫هوال ل‬
َ ‫يح بِا ْل َح‬
ِ ِ‫ش ْيٍء ِّمنْ َع َملِي ا ْلقَب‬
wa-l¡ lishayim-min `amali-yal-qab¢¦i bil-¦asani mubad-dilan ghayrak
Nor transformer of any of my ugly acts into good acts but You
‫نت‬
َ َ‫ال إِلَهَ إِاله أ‬
l¡ il¡ha il-l¡ anta
There is no god but You!
‫س ْب َحانَكَ َوبِ َح ْم ِد َك‬
ُ
sub-¦¡naka wa bi¦am-dika
Glory be to You, and Yours is the praise!
‫سي‬
ِ ‫ظَلَ ْمتُ نَ ْف‬
¨alam-tu naf-s¢
I have wronged myself,
‫َوت ََج هر ْأتُ بِ َج ْهلِي‬
wa tajar-ratu bijah-l¢
And I have been audacious in my ignorance
‫يم ِذ ْك ِر َك لِي َو َمنِّكَ َعلَ هي‬
َ ‫َو‬
ِ ‫س َكنتُ إِلَي قَ ِد‬
wa sakan-tu il¡ qad¢mi dhik-rika l¢ wa man-nika `alay
And I have depended upon Your ancient remembrance of me and Your favor toward me.
‫الي‬
َ ‫الله ُه هم َم ْو‬
allahumma maw-l¡y
O Allah! O my Protector!
ُ‫ست َْرتَه‬
َ ‫َكم ِّمن قَبِيح‬
kam-min qab¢¦in satar-tah
How many ugly things You have concealed!
ُ‫َو َكم ِّمن فَاِدح ِّم َن البَال ِء أَقَ ْلتَه‬
wa kam-min f¡di¦im-minal-bal¡-i aqal-tah
How many burdensome tribulations You have abolished!

ُ‫َو َكم ِّمنْ ِعثَار هوقَ ْيتَه‬
wa kam-min i'th¡riw-waqaytah
And how many stumbles You have prevented!
ُ‫َو َكم ِّمن هم ْك ُروه َدفَ ْعتَه‬
wa kam-mim-mak-r£hin dafa`tah
And how many ordeals You have repelled!
َ َ‫ستُ أَ ْهالً لههُ ن‬
ْ ‫َو َكم ِّمن ثَنَاء َج ِميل له‬
ُ‫ش ْرتَه‬
wa kam-min than¡-in jam¢lil-las-tu ah-l¡l-l¡hu nashar-tah
And how much beautiful praise, for which I was unworthy, You have spread abroad!
‫الله ُه هم َعظُ َم بَال ِئي‬
allahumma `a¨uma bal¡¢
O Allah, my tribulation is tremendous,
‫سو ُء َحاِلي‬
ُ ‫َوأَ ْف َرطَ بِي‬
wa af-ra§a b¢ s£o-u ¦¡l¢
And my bad state is excessive,
‫ص َرتْ بِي أَ ْع َماِلي‬
ُ َ‫َوق‬
wa qa¥urat b¢ a`m¡l¢
And my acts are inadequate,
‫َوقَ َع َدتْ بِي أَ ْغالَ ِلي‬
wa qa`adat b¢ agh-l¡-l¢
And my fetters have tied me down,
‫سنِي َعن نه ْف ِعي بُ ْع ُد آ َماِلي‬
َ َ‫َو َحب‬
wa ¦abasan¢ `an-naf-e'e bu`a-du ¡-m¡-l¢
And my far-fetched hopes have held me back from my gain
‫سي بِ ِجنَايَتِ َها َو ِمطَاِلي‬
ِ ‫َو َخ َد َع ْتنِي ال ُّد ْنيَا بِ ُغ ُرو ِر َها َونَ ْف‬
wa khada`at-nid-duny¡ bi-ghur£ri-h¡ wa naf-s¢ bi-jin¡yatih¡ wa mi§¡-l¢
And this world with its delusions, my own soul with its offences and my delay have deceived me.
‫سو ُء َع َملِي َوفِ َعاِلي‬
ْ َ ‫سيِّ ِدي فَأ‬
ُ ‫سألُ َك بِ ِع هزتِكَ أَن ال يَ ْح ُج َب َع ْنكَ ُد َعائِي‬
َ ‫يَا‬
y¡ say-yid¢ fa-as-aluka bi-i'z-zatika an l¡ ya¦-juba `an-ka du`a¡-¢ s£o-u `amal¢
wa f¢`¡l¢
O my Master! So I ask You by Your might not to let my evil works and acts veil my supplication
from You,

‫س ِّري‬
َ ‫َوال تَ ْف‬
ِ ْ‫ض َحنِي بِ َخفِ ِّي َما اطهلَ ْع َت َعلَ ْي ِه ِمن‬
wa-l¡ taf-¤a¦-n¢ bi-khaf¢-yi m¡§-§ala`ta `ailayhi min sir-r¢
And not to disgrace me through the hidden things You know of my secrets
‫اج ْلنِي بِا ْل ُعقُوبَ ِة َعلَى َما َع ِم ْلتُهُ فِي َخلَ َوا ِتي‬
ِ ‫َوال تُ َع‬
wa-l¡ tu`¡jil-n¢ bil-u'q£bati `al¡ m¡ `amil-tuhu f¢ khalaw¡t¢
And not to hasten me to punishment for what I have done in private:
،‫سا َءتِي‬
ُ ْ‫ِمن‬
َ ِ‫سو ِء فِ ْعلِي َوإ‬
min s£o-i fi`a-l¢ wa is¡-at¢
My evil acts in secrecy and my misdeeds
‫يطي َو َج َهالَتِي‬
ِ ‫َو َد َو ِام تَ ْف ِر‬
wa daw¡mi taf-r¢§¢ wa jah¡lat¢
And my continuous negligence and my ignorance
‫ش َه َواتِي َو َغ ْفلَتِي‬
َ ‫َو َك ْث َر ِة‬
wa kath-rati sha-haw¡t¢ wa ghaf-lat¢
And my manifold passions and my forgetfulness.
ً ‫َو ُك ِن الله ُه هم بِ ِع هز ِتكَ لِي فِي ُك ِّل األَ ْح َواِل َر ُؤوفا‬
wa kunil-l¡humma bi-i'z-zatika l¢ f¢ kul-lil-a¦-w¡li ra’£f¡
And by Your might, O Allah, be kind to me in all states
ً ‫يع األُ ُمو ِر َعطُوفا‬
ِ ‫هو َعلَ هي فِي َج ِم‬
wa `alay-ya f¢ jam¢i'l-um£r¢ `a§£f¡
And be gracious to me in all affairs!
!‫ض ِّري َوا ْلنهظَ َر فِي أَ ْم ِري‬
َ ‫سألُهُ َكش‬
ْ َ‫إِلَ ِهي َو َربِّي َمن لِّي َغ ْي ُر َك أ‬
ُ ‫ْف‬
ilah¢ wa rab-b¢ mal-l¢ ghayruka as-aluhu kash-fa ¤ur-r¢ wan-na¨ara f¢ am-r¢!
My God and my Lord! Have I any but You from whom to ask removal of my affliction and regard
for my affairs!
،‫سي‬
ِ ‫إِلَ ِهي َو َم ْوالي أَ ْج َر ْي َت َعلَ هي ُح ْكما ً اتهبَ ْعتُ فِي ِه َه َوى نَ ْف‬
ilah¢ wa maw-laya aj-rayta `alay-ya ¦uk-mant-taba`tu f¢hi haw¡ naf-s¢
My God and my Protector! You put into effect through me a decree in which I followed the caprice
of my own soul
،‫يين َع ُد ِّوي‬
ْ ‫َولَ ْم أَ ْحتَ ِر‬
ِ ‫س فِي ِه ِمن ت َْز‬
wa lam a¦-taris f¢hi min tazy¢ni `ad£-w¢
And [I] did not remain wary of adorning my enemy.

‫ضا ُء‬
ْ َ‫فَ َغ هرنِي بِ َما أَه َْوى َوأ‬
َ َ‫س َع َدهُ َعلَى َذلِ َك الق‬
fa-ghar-ran¢ bi-m¡ ah-w¡ wa as-`adahu `al¡ dh¡-likal-qa¤¡
So he deluded me through my soul's caprice and therein destiny favored him
‫ض ُح ُدو ِد َك‬
َ ‫فَت ََجا َو ْزتُ بِ َما َج َرى َعلَ هي ِمنْ َذلِكَ بَ ْع‬
fa-taj¡-waztu bi-m¡ jar¡ `alay-ya min dh¡-lika ba`¤a ¦ud£dik
So, in what was put into effect through me in that situation, I transgressed some of Your statutes
َ‫ض أَ َوا ِم ِرك‬
َ ‫َو َخالَ ْفتُ بَ ْع‬
wa kh¡laf-tu ba`¤a aw¡mirik
And disobeyed some of Your commands.
َ‫يع َذلِك‬
ِ ‫فَلَكَ ا ْل ُح هجةُ َعلَ هي فِي َج ِم‬
falakal-¦uj-jatu `alay-ya f¢ jam¢i' dh¡lik
So Yours is the argument against me in all of that
، َ‫ضا ُؤك‬
َ َ‫َوال ُح هجةَ لِي فِي َما َج َري َعلَ هي فِي ِه ق‬
wa-l¡ ¦uj-jata l¢ f¢m¡ jar¡ `alay-ya f¢hi qa¤¡uka
I have no argument in what Your destiny put into effect through me therein
َ‫َوأَ ْل َز َمنِي ُح ْك ُم َك َوبَال ُؤك‬
wa alzaman¢ ¦uk-muka wa bal¡uk
nor in what Your decree and Your tribulation imposed upon me.
‫سي‬
ْ ِ‫صي ِري َوإ‬
ِ ‫س َرافِي َعلَى نَ ْف‬
ِ ‫َوقَ ْد أَتَ ْيتُ َك يَا إِلَ ِهي بَ ْع َد تَ ْق‬
wa qad ataytuka y¡ ilah¢ ba`da taq-¥¢r¢ wa is-r¡f¢ `al¡ naf-s¢
Now I have come to You, My God, after my shortcoming and my immoderation toward myself,
،ً‫ُم ْعتَ ِذراً نها ِدما‬
mu`a-tadhiran-n¡diman
Proffering my excuse, regretful,
ً‫ستَقِيال‬
ْ ‫سراً ُّم‬
ِ ‫ُّم ْن َك‬
mun-kasir¡m-mus-taq¢lama
Broken, apologizing,
،ً‫ستَ ْغفِراً ُّمنِيبا‬
ْ ‫ُّم‬
mus-tagh-fir¡m-mun¢ban
Asking forgiveness, repenting,

ً ‫ُّمقِراً ُّم ْذ ِعنا ً ُّم ْعتَ ِرفا‬
muqir-r¡m-mudhi'n¡m-mu`a-tarifa
Acknowledging, submissive, confessing.
‫ان ِمنِّي‬
َ ‫ال أَ ِج ُد َمفَراً ِّم هما َك‬
l¡ ajidu mafar-r¡m-mim-m¡ k¡na min-n¢
I find no place to flee from what occurred through me,
‫َوال َم ْف َزعا ً أَتَ َو هجهُ إِلَ ْي ِه في أَ ْم ِري‬
wa-l¡ mafz¡'¡n atawaj-jahu ilayhi f¢ am-r¢
Nor any place of escape to which I may turn in my affairs,
َ ِ‫ َوإ‬،‫َغ ْي َر قَبُولِ َك ُع ْذ ِري‬
َ‫س َعة ِّمن هر ْح َمتِك‬
َ ‫دخاِلكَ إِيَاي فِي‬
ghayra qab£lika u'dhr¢ wa id-kh¡lika ¢-yaya f¢ s¡'tim-mir-ra¦-matik
Other than Your acceptance of my excuse and Your entering me into the compass of Your mercy.
‫الله ُه هم فَا ْقبَل ُع ْذ ِري‬
allahumma faq-bal u'dhr¢
O Allah, so accept my excuse,
‫ض ِّري‬
ْ ‫َو‬
ُ َ‫ش هدة‬
ِ ‫ار َح ْم‬
war-¦am shid-data ¤ur¢
Have mercy upon the severity of my affliction
‫ش ِّد َوثَاقِي‬
َ ‫َوفُ هكنِي ِمن‬
wa fuk-kan¢ min shad-di wath¡q¢
And release me from the tightness of my fetters,
‫ف بَ َدنِي َو ِرقهةَ ِج ْل ِدي َو ِدقهةَ َع ْظ ِمي‬
َ ‫ض ْع‬
ْ ‫يَا َر ِّب‬
َ ‫ار َح ْم‬
y¡ rab-bir-¦am ¤a`fa badan¢ wa riq-qata jil-d¢ wa diq-qata `a¨m¢
My Lord, have mercy upon the weakness of my body, the thinness of my skin and the frailty of my
bones.
‫يَا َمنْ بَ َدأَ َخ ْلقِي َو ِذ ْك ِري َوت َْربِيَتِي َوبِ ِّري َوتَ ْغ ِذيَتِي‬
y¡ mam bad¡ khal-q¢ wa dhik-r¢ wa tar-bi-yat¢ wa bir¢ wa tagh-dhi-yat¢
O You who gave rise to my creation, to the remembrance of me, to the nurture of me, to goodness
toward me and to nourishment on me,

َ ‫َه ْبنِي ال ْبتِ َدا ِء َك َر ِمكَ َو‬
ِ ِ ‫سا‬
hab-n¢ lb-tid¡-i karamika wa s¡lifi bir-rika b¢
Bestow upon me for the sake of Your having given rise [to me] with generosity and Your previous
goodness to me!
‫سيِّ ِدي َو َربِّي‬
َ ‫يَا إِلَ ِهي َو‬
y¡ ilah¢ wa say-yid¢ wa rab-b¢
O Allah, my Master and my Lord!
َ‫أَتُ َراكَ ُم َع ِّذبِي ِبنَا ِركَ بَ ْع َد ت َْو ِحي ِدك‬
atur¡ka mu`adh-dhib¢ bin¡rika ba`da taw-¦¢dik
Can You see Yourself tormenting me with Your fire after I have professed Your Unity
َ‫َوبَ ْع َد َما ا ْنطَ َوى َعلَ ْي ِه قَ ْلبِي ِمن هم ْع ِرفَتِك‬
wa ba`da man-§aw¡ `ailayhi qal-b¢ mim-ma`rifatik
And after the knowledge of You my heart has embraced,
َ‫سانِي ِمنْ ِذ ْك ِرك‬
َ ِ‫َولَ ِه َج بِ ِه ل‬
wa lahija bihi lis¡n¢ min dhik-rik
And the remembrance of You my tongue has constantly mentioned
َ‫ض ِمي ِري ِمنْ ُحبِّك‬
َ ُ‫َوا ْعتَقَ َده‬
wa a`taqadahu ¨am¢r¢ min ¦ub-bik
And the love of You to which my mind has clung,
َ‫اضعا ً لِّ ُربُوبِيهتِك‬
ِ ‫ْق ا ْعتِ َرافِي َو ُد َعائِي َخ‬
ِ ‫َوبَ ْع َد‬
ِ ‫صد‬
wa ba`da ¥id-qi-`a-tir¡f¢ wa du`a¡-¢ kh¡¤i`a¡l-li-rub£b¢-yatika
And after the sincerity of my confession and my supplication, humble before Your lordship?
َ َ‫ات أ‬
َ ‫َه ْي َه‬
ُ‫ضيِّ َع َمن هربه ْيتَه‬
َ ُ‫نت أَ ْك َر ُم ِمنْ أَن ت‬
hayh¡ta anta ak-ramu min an tu¤ay-yi`a mar-rab-baytah
Far be it from You! You are more generous than that You should squander him whom You have
nurtured,
ُ‫أَ ْو تُ ْب ِع َد َمنْ أَ ْدنَ ْيتَه‬
aw tub-i'da man ad-naytah
Or banish him whom You have brought nigh,
َ ُ‫أَ ْو ت‬
ُ‫آو ْيتَه‬
َ ْ‫ش ِّر َد َمن‬
aw tushar-rida man ¡-aytah
Or drive away him whom You have given an abode

ُ‫لى ا ْلبال ِء َمن َكفَ ْيتَهُ َو َر ِح ْمتَه‬

aw tus-s-lima il¡l-bal¡-i man kafay-tahu wa ra¦im-tah
Or submit to tribulation him whom You have spared and shown mercy.
‫سيِّ ِدي َوإِلَ ِهي َو َم ْوالي‬
َ ‫ش ْع ِري يَا‬
ِ ‫َولَ ْي َت‬
wa layta shi`a-r¢ y¡y say-yid¢ wa ilah¢ wa maw-l¡y
Would that I knew, my Master, My God and my Protector,
ً‫اج َدة‬
َ َ‫ار َعلَى ُو ُجوه َخ هرتْ لِ َعظَ َمتِك‬
َ ‫سلِّطُ النه‬
َ ُ‫أَت‬
ِ ‫س‬
atusal-li§un-n¡ra `al¡ wuj£hin khar-rat li-`a¨amatika s¡jidah
Will You will give the Fire dominion over faces fallen down prostrate before Your
Tremendousness?
ً‫ش ْك ِركَ َما ِد َحة‬
ُ ِ‫صا ِدقَةً هوب‬
ُ ‫هو َعلَى أَ ْل‬
َ ‫سن نهطَقَتْ بِت َْو ِحي ِد َك‬
wa `al¡ al-sunin-na§aqat bi-taw-¦¢dika ¥¡diqataw-wa bishuk-rika m¡di¦ah
And over tongues voicing sincerely the profession of Your Unity and giving thanks to You in
praise?
ً‫هو َعلَى قُلُوب ا ْعتَ َرفَتْ بِإِلَ ِهيهتِكَ ُم َحقِّقَة‬
wa `al¡ qul£bin-`a-tarafat bi-ilh¢-yatika mu¦aq-qiqah
And over hearts acknowledging Your Divinity through verification?
ً‫اش َعة‬
َ ‫ص‬
َ ‫ض َمائِ َر َح َوتْ ِم َن ا ْل ِع ْل ِم بِكَ َحتهى‬
َ ‫هو َعلَى‬
ِ ‫ارتْ َخ‬
wa `al¡ ¤am¡-ira ¦awat minal-i'l-mi bika ¦at-t¡ ¥¡rat kh¡shi`ah
And over minds encompassing knowledge of You until they have become humble?
َ‫ستِ ْغفَا ِرك‬
َ َ‫ان تَ َعبُّ ِد َك طَائِ َعةً هوأ‬
ْ ‫ارتْ بِا‬
َ ‫ش‬
َ ‫رح‬
َ ِ‫هو َعلَى َجوا‬
ِ َ‫س َعتْ إِلَى أَ ْوط‬
ً‫ُم ْذ ِعنَة‬
wa `al¡ jawari¦a s¡'t il¡ aw-§¡ni t¡'b-budika §¡-i`ataw-wa ash¡rat bis-tighf¡rika mudhi'nah
And over bodily members speeding to the places of Your worship in obedience and beckoning for
Your forgiveness in submission?
َ‫ضلِ َك عَنك‬
ْ َ‫هما َه َك َذا الظهنُّ بِكَ َوال أُ ْخبِ ْرنَا بِف‬
m¡ hkadh¡¨-¨an-nu bika wa-l¡ ukh-bir-n¡ bi-fa¤lika `anka
No such opinion is held of You! Nor has such been reported - thanks to Your bounty — concerning
You,

y¡ kar¢mu y¡ rab
O All-generous! My Lord,
،‫ض ْعفِي َعن قَلِيل ِّمن بَال ِء ال ُّد ْنيَا َو ُعقُوبَاتِ َها‬
َ َ‫َوأ‬
َ ‫نت تَ ْعلَ ُم‬
wa anta ta`lamu ¤a`f¢ `an qal¢lim-min bal¡-id-dun-y¡ wa u'q£b¡tih¡
And You know my weakness before a little of this world's tribulations and punishments,
‫َو َما يَ ْج ِري فِي َها ِم َن ا ْل َم َكا ِر ِه َعلَى أَ ْهلِ َها‬
wa m¡ yaj-r¢ f¢h¡ minal-mak¡rihi `al¡ ah-lih¡
And before those ordeals which befall its inhabitants,
ُ‫صير ُّم هدتُه‬
ِ َ‫ ق‬،ُ‫سير بَقَا ُؤه‬
ِ َ‫ ي‬،ُ‫ قَلِيل هم ْكثُه‬،‫َعلَى أَنه َذلِ َك بَالء هو َم ْك ُروه‬
`al¡ an-na dh¡-lika bal¡-uw-wa mak-r£hun, qal¢lum-mak-thuhu, yas¢rum baq¡uhu, qa¥¢rum-mud-datuh
Even though it is a tribulation and ordeal whose stay is short, whose subsistence is but little and,
whose period is but fleeting.
!‫وع ا ْل َم َكا ِر ِه فِي َها‬
َ ‫فَ َك ْي‬
ْ ‫ف‬
ِ ‫احتِ َماِلي لِبَال ِء‬
ِ ِ‫اآلخ َر ِة َو َجل‬
ِ ُ‫يل ُوق‬
fa-kayfa¦-tim¡l¢ li-bal¡-il-akhirati wa jal¢li wuq£i'l-mak¡rihi f¢h¡!
So how can I endure the tribulations of the next world and the great ordeals that occur within it?
‫ف َعنْ أَ ْهلِ ِه‬
ُ ‫ َوال يُ َخفه‬،ُ‫ َويَ ُدو ُم َمقَا ُمه‬،ُ‫َو ُه َو بَالء تَطُو ُل ُم هدتُه‬
wa huwa bal¡-un ta§£lu mud-datuhu, wa yad£mu maq¡muhu, wa-l¡ yukhaffafu `an ah-lih
For it is a tribulation whose period is long, whose station endures and whose sufferers are given no
respite,
‫س َخ ِط َك‬
ُ ‫ألَنههُ ال يَ ُك‬
َ ‫ضبِكَ َوانتِقَا ِمكَ َو‬
َ ‫ون إِاله َعنْ َغ‬
li-an-nahu l¡ yak£nu il-l¡ `an gha¤abika wan-tiq¡mika wa sakha§ik
Since it only occurs as a result of Your wrath, Your vengeance and Your anger,
‫ض‬
‫َو َه َذا َما ال تَقُو ُم لَهُ ال ه‬
ُ ‫اواتُ َواألَ ْر‬
َ ‫س َم‬
wa hadh¡ m¡ l¡ taq£mu lahus-sam¡w¡tu wal-ar¤u
And these cannot be withstood by the heavens and the earth.
‫ف بِي‬
َ ‫سيِّ ِدي فَ َك ْي‬
َ ‫يَا‬
y¡ say-yid¢ fakayfa b¢
O Master, so what about me?!

wa ana `abuka¤-¤ae'efudh-dhal¢lul-¦aq¢rul-mis-k¢nul-mus-tak¢n
For I am Your weak, lowly, base, wretched and miserable slave.
‫سيِّ ِدي َو َم ْوالي‬
َ ‫يَا إِلَ ِهي َو َربِّي َو‬
y¡ ilah¢ wa rab-b¢ wa say-yid¢ wa maw-l¡y
My God! My Lord! My Master! My Protector!
‫ش ُكو‬
ْ َ‫ي األُ ُمو ِر إِلَ ْيكَ أ‬
ِّ َ‫أل‬
li-ay-yil-um£ri ilayka ash-k£
For which things would I complain to You?
‫ض ُّج َوأَ ْب ِكي‬
ِ َ‫َولِ َما ِم ْن َها أ‬
wa lim¡ minh¡ a¤ij-ju wa ab-k¢
And for which of them would I lament and weep?
!‫ب َو ِش هدتِ ِه‬
ِ ‫يم ا ْل َع َذا‬
ِ ِ‫ألَل‬
li-al¢mil-`adh¡bi wa shid-datih
For the pain and severity of chastisement?
!‫ول ا ْلبَال ِء َو ُم هدتِ ِه‬
ِ ُ‫أَ ْم لِط‬
am li§£lil-bal¡-i wa mud-datih
Or for the length and period of tribulation?
َ‫ت َم َع أَ ْع َدائِك‬
َ ‫فَلَئِن‬
ِ ‫صيه ْرتَنِي لِ ْل ُعقُوبَا‬
fa-la-in ¥ay-yar-tan¢ lil-u'q£b¡ti m¡' a`d¡-ik
So if You take me to the punishments with Your enemies,
َ‫َو َج َم ْع َت بَ ْينِي َوبَ ْي َن أَه ِْل بَالئِك‬
wa jama`ta bayn¢ wa bayna ahli bal¡-ik
And gather me with the people of Your tribulation
َ‫َوفَ هر ْق َت بَ ْينِي َوبَ ْي َن أَ ِحبهائِ َك َوأَ ْولِيَائِك‬
wa far-raq-ta bay-n¢ wa bay-na a¦ib-b¡-ika wa aw-li-y¡-ik
And separate me from Your friends and saints,
، َ‫صبَ ْرتُ َعلَى َع َذابِك‬
َ ‫سيِّ ِدي َو َم ْوالي َو َربِّي‬
َ ‫فَ َه ْبنِي يَا إِلَ ِهي َو‬
fa-hab-n¢ y¡ ilah¢ wasay-yid¢ wa mawlaya wa rab-b¢ ¥abar-tu `al¡ `adh¡bika
Then suppose, My God, my Master, my Protector and my Lord that I am able to endure Your
chastisement,

َ ‫فَ َك ْي‬
ْ َ‫ف أ‬
fakayfa a¥-biru `al¡ fir¡qika
How can I endure separation from You?
،َ‫صبَ ْرتُ َعلَى َح ِّر نَا ِرك‬
َ ‫َو َه ْبنِي‬
wa hab-n¢ ¥abar-tu `al¡ ¦ar-ri n¡rika
And suppose that I am able to endure the heat of Your fire,
َ‫صبِ ُر َع ِن النهظَ ِر إِلَى َك َرا َمتِك‬
َ ‫فَ َك ْي‬
ْ َ‫ف أ‬
fakayfa a¥-biru `an-na¨ari il¡ kar¡matik
How can I endure not gazing upon Your generosity?
َ‫س ُك ُن ِفي النها ِر َو َر َجائِي َع ْف ُوك‬
َ ‫أَ ْم َك ْي‬
ْ َ‫ف أ‬
am kayfa as-kunu fin-n¡ri wa raj¡-¢ `af-wuk
Or how can I dwell in the Fire while my hope is Your pardon?
ً ‫اطقا‬
َ ‫س ُم‬
َ ‫فَبِ ِع هزتِ َك يَا‬
ِ َ‫ لَئِن ت ََر ْكتَنِي ن‬،ً‫صا ِدقا‬
ِ ‫سيِّ ِدي َو َم ْوالي أُ ْق‬
fabi-i'z-zatika y¡ say-yid¢ wa mawlaya uq-simu ¥¡diqal-la-in tarak-tan¢ n¡§iqan
So by Your might, my Master and my protector, I swear sincerely, if You leave me with speech,
‫ين‬
َ ِ‫يج اآل ِمل‬
َ ‫ض ِج‬
َ ‫ض هجنه إِلَ ْيكَ بَ ْي َن أَ ْهلِ َها‬
ِ َ‫أل‬
la¤ij-jan-na ilayka bayna ah-lih¡ ¤aj¢jal-amil¢n
I will lament to You from the midst of the Fire's inhabitants with lamentation of the hopeful;
َ ‫ص َر‬
‫ين‬
َ ‫َص ِر ِخ‬
ْ ‫ست‬
ْ ‫اخ ال ُم‬
ْ َ‫َوأل‬
ُ َ‫ص ُر َخنه إِلَيك‬
wa la¥rukhan-na ilayka ¥ur¡khal-mus-ta¥-rikh¢n
I will cry to You with the cry of those crying for help;
‫ين‬
َ ‫َوألَ ْب ِكيَنه َعلَ ْيكَ بُ َكا َء الفَاقِ ِد‬
wa-la-ab-ki-yan-na `ailayka buk¡-al-f¡qid¢n
I will weep to You with the weeping of the bereft;
‫ين‬
َ ‫َوألُنَا ِديَنهكَ أَ ْي َن ُك‬
َ ِ‫نت يَا َولِ هي ا ْل ُم ْؤ ِمن‬
wa la-un¡di-yan-naka ay-na kun-ta y¡ wal¢-yal-mu-min¢n
And I will call to You, Where are You, O Sponsor of the believers,
‫ين‬
َ ِ‫يَا َغايَةَ آ َماِل ال َعا ِرف‬
y¡ gh¡yata ¡-m¡lil-`¡rif¢n
O Goal of the hopes of Your knowers,

O Aid of those who seek assistance,

َ ِ‫يَا َحب‬
ِ ‫يب قُلُو‬
y¡ ¦ab¢ba qul£bi¥-¥¡diq¢n
O Friend of the hearts of the sincere
‫ين‬
َ ‫َويَا إِلَهَ ال َعالَ ِم‬
wa y¡ ilhal-`¡lam¢n
And O God of all the world's inhabitants!
‫سلِم‬
ْ ‫ص ْو َت َع ْبد ُّم‬
ْ َ‫ ت‬،‫س ْب َحانَكَ يَا إِلَ ِهي َوبِ َح ْم ِد َك‬
ُ ،‫أَفَتُ َرا َك‬
َ ‫س َم ُع فِي َها‬
afatur¡ka sub-¦¡naka y¡ ilah¢ wa bi¦am-dika tas-mau' f¢h¡ ¥aw-ta `ab-dimmus-limin
Can You see Yourself — Glory be to You My God, and Yours is the praise — hearing within the
Fire the voice of a slave surrendered to You,
‫س ِج َن فِي َها بِ ُم َخالَفَتِ ِه‬
ُ
sujina f¢h¡ bi-mukh¡lafatih
Imprisoned there because of his violations,
‫صيَتِ ِه‬
َ ‫َو َذا‬
ِ ‫ق طَ ْع َم َع َذا ِب َها بِ َم ْع‬
wa dh¡qa §a`ma `adh¡bih¡ bi-ma`¥i-yatih
Tasting the favor of its torment because of his disobedience,
‫يرتِ ِه‬
َ ‫س بَ ْي َن أَ ْطبَاقِ َها بِ ُج ْر ِم ِه َو َج ِر‬
َ ِ‫َو ُحب‬
wa ¦ubisa bayna a§-b¡qih¡ bijur-mih wa jar¢ratih
And confined within its levels because of his sin and crime,
َ‫يج ُمؤَ ِّمل لِّ َر ْح َمتِك‬
َ ‫ض ِج‬
َ َ‫ض ُّج إلَ ْيك‬
ِ َ‫َو ُه َو ي‬
wa huwa ya¤ij-ju ilayka ¤aj¢ja muammilil-lira¦-mat-k
While he laments to You with the lament of one hopeful for Your mercy,
َ‫ان أَه ِْل ت َْو ِحي ِدك‬
َ ِ‫َويُنَا ِدي َك بِل‬
ِ ‫س‬
wa yun¡d¢ka bi-lis¡ni ahli taw-¦¢dik
And calls to You with the tongue of those who profess Your Unity
َ‫س ُل إلَ ْي َك بِ ُربُوبِيه ِتك‬
‫َويَتَ َو ه‬
wa yatawas-salu ilayka bi-rub£b¢-yatik
And entreats You by Your lordship!

ِ ‫ف يَبقَى فِي ا ْل َع َذا‬
y¡ mawl¡y fa-kayfa yabq¡ f¢l-`adh¡bi wa huwa yar-j£ m¡ salafa min ¦il-mik
My Protector, so how should he remain in the chastisement, while he has hope for Your previous
clemency?
َ‫ضلَ َك َو َر ْح َمتَك‬
َ ‫أَ ْم َك ْي‬
ْ َ‫ف تُ ْؤلِ ُمهُ النها ُر َو ُه َو يَا َم ُل ف‬
am kayfa tu-limuhun-n¡ru wa huwa ya-malu fa¤laka wa ra¦-mataka
Or how should the Fire cause him pain while he expects Your bounty and mercy?
َ َ‫ف يُ ْح ِرقُهُ لَ ِهيبُ َها َوأ‬
َ ‫أَ ْم َك ْي‬
ْ َ‫نت ت‬
ُ‫ص ْوتَهُ َوتَ َرى َم َكانَه‬
َ ‫س َم ُع‬
am kayfa yu¦-riquhu lah¢buh¡ wa anta tas-mau' ¥aw-tahu wa tar¡ mak¡nah
Or how should its flames burn him, while You hear his voice and see his place?
ْ َ‫ف ي‬
َ َ‫شتَ ِم ُل َعلَ ْي ِه َزفِي ُر َها َوأ‬
َ ‫أَ ْم َك ْي‬
ُ‫ض ْعفَه‬
َ ‫نت تَ ْعلَ ُم‬
am kayfa yash-tamilu `ailayhi zaf¢ruh¡ wa anta ta`lamu ¤a`fah
Or how should its groaning encompass him, while You know his weakness?
َ َ‫ف يَتَقَ ْلقَ ُل بَ ْي َن أَ ْطبَاقِ َها َوأ‬
َ ‫أَ ْم َك ْي‬
ُ‫ص ْدقَه‬
ِ ‫نت تَ ْعلَ ُم‬
am kayfa yataqalqalu bayna a§-b¡qih¡ wa anta ta`lamu ¥id-qah
Or how should he be convulsed among its levels, while You know his sincerity?
َ ‫أَ ْم َك ْي‬
ُ‫ف ت َْز ُج ُرهُ َزبَانِيَتُ َها َو ُه َو يُنَا ِديكَ يَا َربهه‬
am kayfa tazjuruhu zab¡ni-yatuh¡ wa huwa yun¡d¢ka y¡ rab-bah
Or how should its keepers torture him while he calls out to You, O Lord?
‫ضلَكَ فِي ِع ْتقِ ِه ِم ْن َها فَتَ ْت ُر ُكهُ فِي َها‬
َ ‫أَ ْم َك ْي‬
ْ َ‫ف يَ ْر ُجو ف‬
am kayfa yar-j£ fa¤laka f¢ i't-qihi minh¡ fatat-rukuhu f¢h¡
Or how should he have hope of Your bounty in freeing him from it, while You abandon him within
it?
َ‫ات َما َذلِكَ الظهنُّ بِك‬
َ ‫َهي َه‬
hayh¡t m¡ dh¡lika¨-¨an-nu bik
Far be it from You! That is not what is expected of You,
َ‫ضلِك‬
ُ ‫َوال ا ْل َم ْع ُر‬
ْ َ‫وف ِمن ف‬
wa-lal-ma`r£fu min fa¤lik
Nor what is well-known of Your bounty,
ْ ‫َوال ُم‬
َ‫سانِك‬
َ ‫شبِه لِ َما َعا َم ْل َت بِ ِه ا ْل ُم َو ِّح ِد‬
َ ‫ين ِمنْ بِ ِّر َك َوإِ ْح‬
wa-l¡ mush-biha lim¡ `¡mal-ta bihil-m£a¦-¦id¢na mim bir-rika wa i¦-s¡nik
Nor is it similar to the goodness and kindness You have shown to those who profess Your Unity.

fa-bial-yaq¢ni aq-§au' law-l¡ ma ¦akam-ta bihi min ta`dh¢bi j¡¦id¢k
So I declare with certainty that were it not for what You have decreed concerning the chastisement
of Your deniers
َ‫ض ْي َت بِ ِه ِمنْ إِ ْخالَ ِد ُم َعانِ ِديك‬
َ َ‫َوق‬
wa qa¤ayta bihi min ikh-l¡ydi mu`¡nid¢k
And what You have foreordained concerning the everlasting home of those who stubbornly resist,
،ً‫سالَما‬
َ ‫ار ُكله َها بَ ْرداً هو‬
َ ‫لَ َج َع ْل َت النه‬
laj¡'l-tan-n¡ra kul-l¡h¡ bar-d¡w-wa sal¡m¡
You would make the Fire, all of it, coolness and safety,
ً ‫ان ألَ َحد فِي َها َمقَراً هوال ُمقَاما‬
َ ‫َو َما َك‬
wa m¡ k¡na li-a¦adin f¢h¡ maqar-r¡w-wa-l¡ muq¡m¡
And no one would have a place of rest or abode within it.
،‫ين‬
َ ‫س ْم َت أَنْ تَ ْمألَ َها ِم َن ا ْل َكا ِف ِر‬
ْ َ‫ستْ أ‬
َ ‫س َما ُؤ َك أَ ْق‬
َ ‫له ِكنه َك تَقَ هد‬
lakin-naka taqad-dasat as-m¡-uka aq-sam-ta an tam-lah¡ minal-k¡fir¢na;
But You—holy are Your Names—have sworn that You will fill it with the unbelievers,
‫ين‬
َ ‫س أَ ْج َم ِع‬
ِ ‫ِم َن ا ْل ِجنه ِة َوالنها‬
minal-jin-nati wan-n¡si aj-m`a¢n
Both Jinn and men together,
‫ين‬
َ ‫َوأَن تُ َخلِّ َد فِي َها ا ْل ُم َعانِ ِد‬
wa-an tukhal-lida f¢h¡l-mu`¡nid¢n
And that You will place those who stubbornly resist therein forever.
:ً ‫اإل ْن َع ِام ُمتَ َك ِّرما‬
َ َ‫َوأ‬
ِ ِ‫ هوتَطَ هو ْل َت ب‬،ً‫نت َج هل ثَنَا ُؤ َك قُ ْل َت ُم ْبتَ َدئا‬
wa anta jal-l¡ than¡-uka qul-ta mub-tadiw¡w-wa ta§aw-wal-ta bil-in-`¡mi
mutakar-rim¡
And You— majestic is Your eulogy— said at the beginning and were gracious through kindness as
a favor,
‫ون‬
َ ‫ستَ ُو‬
َ ‫ان ُم ْؤ ِمنًا َك َمن َك‬
َ ‫أَفَ َمن َك‬
ْ َ‫اسقًا ٍ هال ي‬
ِ َ‫ان ف‬
afaman k¡na mumin¡n kaman k¡na f¡siqal-l¡ yas-taw£n
What? Is he who has been believer like unto him who has been ungodly? They are not equal

‫سألُكَ بِا ْلقُ ْد َر ِة الهتِي قَد ْهرتَ َها‬
ْ َ ‫سيِّ ِدي فَأ‬
َ ‫إِلَ ِهي َو‬
ilah¢ wa say-yid¢ fa-as-aluka bial-qud-ratil-lat¢ qad-dartah¡
My God and my Master! So I ask You by the power You have apportioned
‫ضيه ِة اله ِتي َحتَ ْمتَ َها َو َح َك ْمتَ َها َو َغلَ ْب َت َمنْ َعلَ ْي ِه أَ ْج َر ْيتَ َها‬
ِ َ‫َوبِا ْلق‬
wa bil-qa¤¢-yatil-lat¢ ¦atam-tah¡ wa ¦akam-tah¡ wa ghalab-ta man `ailayhi ajraytah¡
And by the decision which You have determined and imposed and through which You have
overcome him toward whom it has been put into effect,
‫سا َع ِة‬
‫ َوفِي َه ِذ ِه ال ه‬،‫ فِي ه ِذ ِه الله ْيلَ ِة‬،‫أَن تَ َه َب لِي‬
an tahaba l¢ f¢ hadhihil-laylati wa f¢ hadhih¢s-s¡'ah
That You forgive me in this night and at this hour
ُ‫ُك هل ُج ْرم أَ ْج َر ْمتُه‬
kul-l¡ jur-min aj-ram-tuh
Every offence I have committed,
ُ‫َو ُك هل َذ ْنب أَ ْذنَ ْبتُه‬
wa kul-l¡ dham-bin adhnab-tuh
And every sin I have performed,
ْ َ‫َو ُك هل قَبِيح أ‬
ُ‫س َر ْرتُه‬
wa kul-l¡ qab¢¦in as-rar-tuh
And every ugly thing I have concealed
،ُ‫َو ُك هل َج ْهل َع ِم ْلتُه‬
wa kul-l¡ jah-lin `amil-tuhu,
And every folly I have enacted
،ُ‫َكتَ ْمتُهُ أَ ْو أَ ْعلَنتُه‬
katam-tuh£o aw a`lan-tuhu,
Whether I have hidden or announced it,
ُ‫أَخفَ ْيتُهُ أَ ْو أَ ْظ َه ْرتُه‬
akhfaytuh£o aw a¨har-tuh
Or I have concealed it or manifested it
‫ين‬
َ ِ‫سيِّئَة أَ َم ْر َت بِإِ ْثبَاتِ َها ا ْل ِك َرا َم ال َكاتِب‬
َ ‫َو ُك هل‬
wa kul-l¡ say-yi-atin amarta bi-ith-b¡tihayal-kir¡mal-k¡tib¢n
And every evil act which You have commanded the Noble Writers to record,

ُ ‫ين َو هك ْلتَ ُهم بِ ِح ْف ِظ َما يَ ُك‬
َ ‫اله ِذ‬
al-ladh¢na wak-kal-tahum bi-¦if-¨i m¡ yak£nu min-n¢
Those whom You have appointed to watch over what appears from me
،‫ش ُهوداً َعلَ هي َم َع َج َوا ِر ِحي‬
ُ ‫َو َج َع ْلتَ ُه ْم‬
wa j¡'l-tahum shuh£dan `alay-ya m¡' jaw¡ri¦¢
And whom You have made, along with my bodily members, witness against me.
،‫يب َعلَ هي ِمن هو َرا ِئ ِه ْم‬
َ َ‫نت أ‬
َ ‫َو ُك‬
َ ِ‫نت ال هرق‬
wa kunta antar-raq¢ba `alay-ya miw-war¡-ihim
And You were Yourself the Watcher over me from behind them,
،‫َوالشها ِه َد لِ َما َخفِي َع ْن ُه ْم‬
wash-sh¡hida lim¡ khafiya `an-hum
And the Witness of what is hidden from them
،ُ‫َوبِ َر ْح َمتِ َك أَ ْخفَ ْيتَه‬
wa bi-ra¦-matika akh-faytahu
But through Your mercy You concealed it
ْ َ‫َوبف‬
ُ‫ست َْرتَه‬
َ ‫ضلِ َك‬
wa bifa¤lika satar-tah
And through Your bounty You veiled it.
،ُ‫َوأَن تُ َوفِّ َر َحظِّي ِمن ُك ِّل َخ ْير تُ ْن ِزلُه‬
wa an t£wf-fira ¦a¨-¨¢ min kul-li khayrin tunziluh
[And I ask You] that You bestow upon me an abundant share of every good You send down,
ُ‫ضلُه‬
َ ‫أَ ْو إِ ْح‬
ِ ‫سان تُ ْف‬
aw i¦-s¡nin tuf-¤iluh
Or kindness You confer,
،ُ‫ش ُره‬
ِ ‫أَ ْو بِ ٍّر تَ ْن‬
aw bir-rin tan-shiruhu
Or goodness You unfold,
ُ‫سطُه‬
ُ ‫أَ ْو ِر ْزق تَ ْب‬
aw rizqin tab-su§uh
Or provision You spread out,
Distributed Freely For Any Who Seek

aw d¦am-bin tagh-firuyhu
Or sin You forgive,
ْ َ‫أَ ْو َخطَأ ت‬

aw kha§ain tas-turuhu
Or error You cover.
‫ب‬
ِّ ‫يَا َر ِّب يَا َر ِّب يَا َر‬
y¡ rab-bi y¡ rab-bi y¡ rabb
My Lord! My Lord! My Lord!
‫سيِّ ِدي َو َم ْوالي َو َماِلكَ ِرقِّي‬
َ ‫يَا إِلَ ِهي َو‬
y¡ ilah¢ wa say-yid¢ wa maw-laya wa m¡lika riq-q¢
My God! My Master! My Protector! Owner of my bondage!
‫اصيَتِي‬
ِ َ‫يَا َمنْ بِيَ ِد ِه ن‬
y¡ mam bi-yadihi n¡¥i-yat¢
O He in whose hand is my forelock!
‫س َكنَتِي‬
ْ ‫ض ِّري َو َم‬
ُ ِ‫يَا َعلِيما ً ب‬
y¡ `al¢m¡m bi¤ur¢ wa mas-kanat¢
O He who knows my affliction and my misery!
‫يَا َخبِيراً بِفَ ْق ِري َوفَاقَتِي‬
y¡ khab¢r¡m bi-faq-r¢ wa f¡qat¢
O He who is aware of my poverty and indigence!
‫ب‬
ِّ ‫يَا َر ِّب يَا َر ِّب يَا َر‬
y¡ rab-bi y¡ y¡ rab-bi y¡ rabb
My Lord! My Lord! My Lord!
َ‫ْسك‬
ْ َ‫أ‬
ِ ‫سألُ َك بِ َحقِّكَ َوقُد‬
as-aluka bi-¦aq-qika wa qud-sik
I ask You by Your Truth and Your Holiness
َ‫س َمائِك‬
ْ َ‫صفَاتِ َك َوأ‬
ِ ‫َوأَ ْعظَ ِم‬
wa a`¨ami ¥if¡tika wa as-m¡-ika
And the greatest of Your Attributes and Names,

،ً‫يل َوالنه َها ِر بِ ِذ ْك ِركَ َم ْع ُمو َرة‬
ِ ‫أن ت َْج َع َل أَ ْوقَاتِي فِي الله‬
an taj-`ala aw-q¡t¢ fil-layli wan-nah¡ri bi-dhik-rika ma`m£rah
That You make my times in the night and the day inhabited by Your remembrance,
،ً‫صولَة‬
ُ ‫َوبِ ِخ ْد َمتِكَ َم ْو‬
wa bikhid-matika maw-¥£lah
And joined to Your service
،ً‫هوأَ ْع َماِلي ِع ْندَكَ َم ْقبُولَة‬
wa a`m¡l¢ i'ndaka maq-b£lah
And my works acceptable to You,
،ً‫احدا‬
َ ‫َحتهى تَ ُك‬
ِ ‫ون أَ ْع َماِلي َوأَ ْو َرا ِدي ُكلُّ َها ِو ْرداً هو‬
¦at-t¡ tak£na a`m¡l¢ wa aw-r¡d¢ kul-luh¡ wir-d¡w-w¡¦idan
So that my works and my litanies may all be a single litany
ً‫س ْر َمدا‬
َ َ‫هو َحاِلي فِي ِخ ْد َمتِك‬
wa ¦¡l¢ f¢ khid-matika sar-mad¡
And my occupation with Your service everlasting.
‫ يَا َمنْ َعلَ ْي ِه ُم َع هولِي‬،‫سيِّ ِدي‬
َ ‫يَا‬
y¡ say-yid¢ y¡ man `ailayhi mu`aw-wal¢
My Master! O He upon whom I depend!
‫ش َك ْوتُ أَ ْح َواِلي‬
َ ‫يَا َمنْ إلَ ْي ِه‬
y¡ man ilayhi shakaw-tu a¦-w¡l¢
O He to whom I complain about my states!
‫ب‬
ِّ ‫يَا َر ِّب يَا َر ِّب يَا َر‬
y¡ rab-bi y¡ rab-bi y¡ rabb
My Lord! My Lord! My Lord!
‫قَ ِّو َعلَى ِخ ْد َمتِكَ َج َوا ِر ِحي‬
qaw-wi `al¡ khid-matika jaw¡ri¦¢
Strengthen my bodily members in Your service,
‫ش ُد ْد َعل َى ا ْل َع ِزي َم ِة َج َوانِ ِحي‬
ْ ‫َوا‬
wash-dud `al¡l-`az¢mati jaw¡ni¦¢
And fortify my ribs in determination

َ‫شيَتِك‬
wa hab liyal-jid-da f¢ khash-yatik
And bestow upon me earnestness in my fear of You
َ‫صاِل بِ ِخ ْد َمتِك‬
َ ِّ‫َوالد َهوا َم فِي اإلت‬
wad-daw¡ma fil-at-iti¥¡li bikhid-matik
And continuity in my being joined to Your service
‫ين‬
َ ِ‫سابِق‬
ْ َ‫َحتهى أ‬
‫ين ال ه‬
ِ ‫س َر َح إِلَيكَ فِي َميَا ِد‬
¦at-t¡ as-ra¦a ilayka f¢ may¡-d¢nis-s¡biq¢n
So that I may move easily toward You in the battlefields of the foremost
‫ين‬
َ ‫س ِر َع إلَ ْيكَ فِي ا ْلمبُا ِد ِر‬
ْ ُ‫َوأ‬
wa us-ri`a ilayka fil-mub¡dir¢n
And hurry to You among the prominent
‫ين‬
ْ ‫إلى قُ ْر ِب َك فِي ا ْل ُم‬
ْ َ‫َوأ‬
َ ِ‫شتَاق‬
َ ‫شتَا‬
َ ‫ق‬
wa ash-t¡qa il¡ qur-bika fil-mush-t¡q¢n
And desire fervently Your proximity among the fervently desirous
‫ين‬
َ ‫ص‬
ِ ِ‫َوأَ ْدنُ َو ِم ْن َك ُدنُ هو ا ْل ُم ْخل‬
wa ad-n£a minka dun£-wal-mukh-li¥¢n
And move nearer to You with the nearness of the sincere
‫ين‬
َ ِ‫َوأَ َخافَ َك َم َخافَةَ ا ْل ُموقِن‬
wa akh¡faka makh¡fatal-m£qin¢n
And fear You with the fear of those who have certitude
‫ين‬
َ ِ‫َوأَ ْجتَ ِم َع فِي ِج َوا ِر َك َم َع ا ْل ُم ْؤمن‬
wa aj-tami`a f¢ jiw¡rika m¡'l-mu-mn¢n
And gather with the believers in Your vicinity.
ُ‫سوء فَأَ ِر ْده‬
ُ ِ‫الله ُه هم َو َمنْ أَ َرا َدنِي ب‬
allahumma wa man ar¡dan¢ bis£o-in f¡rid-hu
O Allah, whoever desires evil for me, desire [it] for him!
ُ‫َو َمن َكا َدنِي فَ ِك ْده‬
wa man k¡dan¢ fakid-hu
whoever deceives me-deceive him!

ْ ‫َو‬
َ ‫اج َع ْلنِي ِمنْ أَ َح‬
ِ َ‫س ِن َعبِي ِدكَ ن‬
waj-`aln¢ min a¦asani `ab¢dika na¥¢ban i'ndaka
And make me one of the most excellent of Your slaves in Portion from You,
َ‫َوأَ ْق َربِ ِهم هم ْن ِزلَةً ِّم ْنك‬
wa aq-rabihim-manzilatam-mink
And the nearest of them in station to You
َ‫ص ِه ْم ُز ْلفَةً لهد ْيك‬
ِّ ‫َوأَ َخ‬
wa akha¥-¥ihim zul-fatal-ladayk
And the most elected of them in proximity to You.
َ‫ضلِك‬
ْ َ‫فَإِنههُ ال يُنَا ُل َذلِ َك إِاله بِف‬
fa-in-nahu l¡ yun¡lu dh¡-lika il-l¡ bi-fa¤lik
For that cannot be attained except by Your bounty.
‫َو ُج ْد لِي بِ ُجو ِد َك‬
wa jud l¢ bij£dik
And grant generously to me through Your munificence,
‫ْطفْ َعلَ هي بِ َم ْج ِد َك‬
ِ ‫َواع‬
w`a-§if `alay-ya bi-maj-dik
And incline toward me with Your splendour
َ‫احفَ ْظنِي بِ َر ْح َمتِك‬
ْ ‫َو‬
wa¦-fa¨n¢ bira¦-matik
And protect me with Your mercy!
ً ‫سانِي بِ ِذ ْك ِركَ لَ ِهجا‬
ْ ‫َو‬
َ ِّ‫اج َعل ل‬
waj-`al-lis¡n¢ bidhik-rika lahij¡
And make my tongue remember You without ceasing
ً ‫هوقَ ْلبِي بِ ُحبِّ َك ُمتَيهما‬
wa qal-b¢ bi-¦ub-bika mutay-yam¡
And my heart enthralled by Your love!
َ‫س ِن إِ َجابَتِك‬
ْ ‫هو ُمنه َعلَ هي بِ ُح‬
wa mun-na `alay-ya bi¦us-ni ij¡batik
And be gracious to me by answering me favourably,
Distributed Freely For Any Who Seek

‫َوأَقِ ْلنِي َع ْث َرتِي‬
wa aqil-n¢ `ath-rat¢
And nullify my slips
‫َوا ْغفِ ْر َزلهتِي‬
wagh-fir zal-lat¢
And forgive my lapses!
َ‫ض ْي َت َعلَى ِعبَا ِدكَ بِ ِعبَا َدتِك‬
َ َ‫فَإِنهكَ ق‬
fa-in-naka qa¤ayta `al¡ i'b¡dika bi-i'b¡datik
For You have decreed Your worship for Your servants
َ‫َوأَ َم ْرتَ ُهم بِ ُد َعائِك‬
wa amar-tahum bidu`a¡-ika
And commanded them to supplicate You
َ‫اإل َجابَة‬
َ ‫ض ِم‬
َ ‫َو‬
ِ ‫نت لَ ُه ُم‬
wa ¤aminta lahumul-ij¡bah
And assured them that they would be answered.
‫ص ْبتُ َو ْج ِهي‬
َ َ‫فَإِلَ ْي َك يَا َر ِّب ن‬
fa-ilayka y¡ rab-bi na¥ab-tu waj-h¢
So toward You, my Lord, I have turned my face
‫َوإلَ ْيكَ يَا َر ِّب َم َددتُّ يَ ِدي‬
wa ilayka y¡ rab-bi madad-tu yad¢
And toward You, my Lord, I have extended my hand.
‫ست َِج ْب لِي ُد َعائِي‬
ْ ‫فَبِ ِع هزتِ َك ا‬
fa-bi-i'z-zatikas-tajib l¢ du`a¡-¢
So by Your might, comply with my supplication
‫َوبَلِّ ْغنِي ُمنَاي‬
wa bal-ligh-n¢ mun¡y
And make me attain my desires!
‫ضلِكَ َر َجائِي‬
ْ َ‫َوال تَ ْقطَ ْع ِمن ف‬
wa-l¡ taq-§¡' min fa¤lika raj¡-¢
Do not sever my hoping for Your Favors

َ ‫َوا ْكفِنِي‬
ِ ‫اإل ْن‬

wak-fin¢ shar-ral-jin-ni wal-in-si min a`d¡-¢
And spare me the evil of my enemies from among the jinn and men!
‫ضا‬
َ ‫س ِري َع ال ِّر‬
َ ‫يَا‬
y¡ sari-y`ar-ri¤¡
O He, whose pleasure is quickly achieved!
‫ا ْغفِ ْر لِ َمن ال يَ ْم ِل ُك إِاله ال ُّد َعا َء‬
igh-fir liman-l¡ yam-liku il-l¡d-du`a¡
Forgive him who owns nothing but supplication
‫شا ُء‬
َ َ‫فَإِنهكَ فَ هعال لِّ َما ت‬
fa-in-naka fa`¡lul-lim¡ tash¡
For You do what You will.
‫س ُمهُ َد َواء‬
ْ ‫يَا َمنْ ا‬
y¡ manis-muhu daw¡-un
O He whose Name is a remedy,
‫شفَاء‬
ِ ُ‫َو ِذ ْك ُره‬
wa dhik-ruhu shif¡-un
And whose remembrance is a cure,
‫َوطَا َعتُهُ ِغنًى‬
wa §¡'tuhu ghinan
And whose obedience is wealth!
‫س َماِل ِه ال هر َجا ُء‬
ْ
ُ ‫ار َحم همن هر ْأ‬
ir-¦am-mar-ra-su m¡lihir-raj¡
Have mercy upon him whose capital is hope
‫سالَ ُحهُ ا ْلبُ َكا ُء‬
ِ ‫َو‬
wa sil¡¦uhul-buk¡-u
And whose weapon is tears!
‫ساِب َغ النِّ َع ِم‬
َ ‫يَا‬
y¡ s¡bighan-ni`am
O Ample in blessings!

O Light of those who are lonely in the darkness!
‫يَا َعالِما ً ال يُ َعله ُم‬
y¡ `¡limal-l¡ yu`al-lam
O Knower who was never taught!
‫آل ُم َح همد‬
َ
ِ ‫ص ِّل َعلَى ُم َح همد هو‬
¥al-li `al¡ mu¦ammad wa ¡-li mu¦ammadin
Bless Muhammad and Muhammad's household!
َ َ‫وا ْف َع ْل ِبي َما أ‬
ُ‫نت أَ ْهلُه‬
waf-`al b¢ m¡ anta ah-luh
And do with me what is worthy of You!
‫صلهى ه‬
‫ين ِمنْ آلِ ِه‬
َ ‫سولِ ِه َواألَئِ هم ِة ا ْل َميَا ِم‬
ُ ‫هللاُ َعلَى َر‬
َ ‫َو‬
wa ¥al-l¡llahu `al¡ ras£lihi wal-aimmatil-may¡m¢na min ¡-lihi
And Allah bless His messenger and the holy Imams of his household
ً‫سلِيما ً َكثِيرا‬
ْ َ‫سله َم ت‬
َ ‫َو‬
wa sal-lama tas-l¢man kath¢r¡
And give them abundant peace!

In the Name of Allah, the All-beneficent, the All-merciful.
َ‫س ِمك‬
ْ ‫سا لُكَ بِٱ‬
ْ ‫اَلله ُه هم إِنِّي ا‬
all¡humma inn¢ as'aluka bismika
O Allah, verily I beseech You by Your Name:

bismi all¡hi alrra¦m¡ni alrra¦¢mi

O He Who begets not and was not begotten,

equal to Whom is none,

Who has no consort,

nor needs He any assistant,
َ ‫َوالَ َك‬

nor with Him is any god but He—

there is no god but You.

O Patron of the believers!

O Helper of those who seek aid!

O Companion of every stranger!
‫س ُك ِّل َو ِحيد‬
َ ِ‫يَا ُم ْؤن‬
y¡ mu'nisa kulli wa¦¢din
O Intimate of everyone alone!
‫يَا َم ْل َجا ُك ِّل طَ ِريد‬
y¡ malja'a kulli §ar¢din
O Refuge of every outcast!
‫ش ِريد‬
َ ‫يَا َما َو ٰى ُك ِّل‬
y¡ ma'w¡ kulli shar¢din
O Shelter of every wanderer!
‫ضالهة‬
َ ‫يَا َحافِظَ ُك ِّل‬
y¡ ¦¡fi¨a kulli ¤¡llatin
O Custodian of everyone astray!
‫خ ٱ ْل َكبِي ِر‬
‫اح َم ٱل ه‬
ِ ‫يَا َر‬
ِ ‫ش ْي‬

‫ق ٱلطِّ ْف ِل ٱل ه‬
y¡ r¡ziqa al§§ifli al¥¥agh¢ri
O He Who provides for small infants!
‫سي ِر‬
ِ ‫يَا َجابِ َر ٱ ْل َع ْظ ِم ٱ ْل َك‬
y¡ j¡bira al`a¨mi alkas¢ri
O He Who sets broken bones!
‫سير‬
ِ ‫يَا فَا هك ُك ِّل ا‬
y¡ f¡kka kulli as¢rin
O He Who releases every prisoner!
‫س ٱ ْلفَ ِقي ِر‬
ِ ِ‫يَا ُم ْغنِي ٱ ْلبَائ‬
y¡ mughniya alb¡'isi alfaq¢ri
O He Who enriches the miserable pauper!
‫ست َِجي ِر‬
ْ ‫ف ٱ ْل ُم‬
ْ ‫يَا ِع‬
ِ ِ‫ص َمةَ ٱ ْل َخائ‬
y¡ `i¥mata alkh¡'ifi almustaj¢ri
O He Who safeguards the fearful seeker of protection!
‫يَا َمنْ لَهُ ٱلته ْدبِي ُر َوٱلته ْق ِدي ُر‬
y¡ man lah£ alttadb¢ru walttaqd¢ru
O He Who governs and determines!
‫سير‬
َ ‫سي ُر َعلَ ْي ِه‬
ِ َ‫س ْهل ي‬
ِ ‫يَا َم ِن ٱ ْل َع‬
y¡ mani al`as¢ru `alayhi sahlun yas¢run
O He for Whom the difficult is simple and easy!
‫سير‬
ُ ‫يَا َمنْ الَ يَ ْحت‬
ِ ‫َاج إِلَ ٰى تَ ْف‬
y¡ man l¡ ya¦t¡ju il¡ tafs¢rin
O He Who never needs an explanation!
‫َيء قَ ِدير‬
ْ ‫يَا َمنْ ه َُو َعلَ ٰى ُك ِّل ش‬
y¡ man huwa `al¡ kulli shay'in qad¢run
O He Who is powerful over everything!'
‫َيء َخبِير‬
ْ ‫يَا َمنْ ه َُو بِ ُك ِّل ش‬
y¡ man huwa bikulli shay'in khab¢run
O He Who is aware of everything!
‫صير‬
ِ َ‫يَا َمنْ ه َُو بِ ُك ِّل شَيء ب‬
y¡ man huwa bikulli shay'in ba¥¢run

O Dispatcher of the spirits!

O Lord of munificence and forbearance!
‫يَا َمنْ بِيَ ِد ِه ُك ُّل ِم ْفتَاح‬
y¡ man biyadih¢ kullu mift¡¦in
O He in Whose Hand is every key!
‫ص ْوت‬
َ ‫سا ِم َع ُك ِّل‬
َ ‫يَا‬
y¡ s¡mi`a kulli ¥awtin
O He Who hears every sound!
‫ق ُك ِّل فَ ْوت‬
َ ِ‫ساب‬
َ ‫يَا‬
y¡ s¡biqa kulli fawtin
O He Who takes precedence over everything that passes away!
‫ت‬
ِ ‫يَا ُم ْحيِي ُك ِّل نَ ْفس بَ ْع َد ٱ ْل َم ْو‬
y¡ mu¦yiya kulli nafsin ba`da almawti
O He Who gives life to every soul after death!
‫ش هدتِي‬
ِ ‫يَا ُع هدتِي فِي‬
y¡ `uddat¢ f¢ shiddt¢
O my Provision in my hardship!
‫يَا َحافِ ِظي فِي ُغ ْربَ ِتي‬
y¡ ¦¡fi¨¢ f¢ ghurbat¢
O my Maintainer in my exile!
‫سي فِي َو ْح َدتِي‬
ِ ِ‫يَا ُم ْؤن‬

O my Sponsor in my blessings!

ُ ‫ين تُ ْعيِي ِن ِي ٱ ْل َم َذا ِه‬
y¡ kahf¢ ¦¢na tu`y¢n¢ almadh¡hibu
O my haven when the ways make me weary,
‫ب‬
ْ ُ‫َوت‬
ُ ‫سلِّ ُمنِي ٱال قَا ِر‬
wa tusallimun¢ al-aq¡ribu
when relatives give me up
‫احب‬
َ ‫َويَ ْخ ُذلُنِي ُك ُّل‬
ِ ‫ص‬
wa yakhdhulun¢ kullu ¥¡¦ibin
and when every companion forsakes me!
ُ‫يَا ِع َما َد َمنْ الَ ِع َما َد لَه‬
y¡ `im¡da man l¡ `im¡da lah£
O Backing of him who has no backing!
ُ‫سنَ َد لَه‬
َ َ‫سنَ َد َمنْ ال‬
َ ‫يَا‬
y¡ sanada man l¡ sanada lah£
O Support of him who has no support!
ُ‫يَا ُذ ْخ َر َمنْ الَ ُذ ْخ َر لَه‬
y¡ dhukhra man l¡ dhukhra lah£
O Store of him who has no store!
ُ‫يَا ِح ْر َز َمنْ الَ ِح ْر َز لَه‬
y¡ ¦irza man l¡ ¦irza lah£
O Sanctuary of him who has no sanctuary!
َ ‫ف َمنْ الَ َك ْه‬

O Cave of him who has no cave!

O my Adjacent Neighbor!

َ ‫يَا ُر ْكنِي ٱ ْل َوثِي‬

O my Sturdy Pillar!
‫يق‬
ِ ِ‫يَا إِ ٰل ِهي بَٱلته ْحق‬
y¡ il¡h¢ biltta¦q¢qi
O My God in truth!
‫يق‬
‫يَا َر ه‬
ِ ‫ب ٱ ْلبَ ْي‬
ِ ِ‫ت ٱ ْل َعت‬
y¡ rabba albayti al`at¢qi
O Lord of the Ancient House!
‫ق‬
ُ ‫ق يَا َرفِي‬
ُ ‫شفِي‬
َ ‫يَا‬
y¡ shaf¢qu y¡ raf¢qu
O All-affectionate! O Friend!
‫يق‬
ِ ‫ق ٱ ْل َم‬
ِ ‫ض‬
ِ َ‫فُ هكنِي ِمنْ َحل‬
fukkan¢ min ¦alaqi alma¤¢qi
Deliver me from the chains of strictures,
‫ضيق‬
ْ ‫َو‬
ِ ‫ٱص ِرفْ َعنِّي ُك هل َه ٍّم َو َغ ٍّم َو‬
wa¥rif `ann¢ kulla hammin wa ghammin wa ¤¢qin
turn away from me every care, grief and distress,
‫ق‬
ُ ‫ش هر َما الَ ا ِطي‬
َ ‫َوٱ ْكفِنِي‬
wakfin¢ sharra m¡ l¡ u§¢qu
protect me from the evil of that which I cannot bear,
‫ق‬
ُ ‫َوا ِعنِّي َعلَ ٰى َما ا ِطي‬
wa a`inn¢ `al¡ m¡ u§¢qu
and help me in that which I am able to bear!

O He Who returned Joseph to Jacob!
‫وب‬
َ ‫اش‬
ُ ‫ف‬
َ ‫ض هر ا ُّي‬
ِ ‫يَا َك‬
y¡ k¡shifa ¤urri ayy£ba
O He Who removed the affliction of Job!
‫ب َدا ُوو َد‬
ِ ‫يَا َغافِ َر َذ ْن‬
y¡ gh¡fira dhanbi d¡w£da
O He Who forgave the sin of David!
‫نجي ِه ِمنْ ا ْي ِدي ٱ ْليَ ُهو ِد‬
َ ‫يَا َرافِ َع ِعي‬
ِ ‫س ٰى ْب ِن َم ْريَ َم َو ُم‬
y¡ r¡fi`a `¢s¡ ibni maryama wa munjiyah£ min a y d¢ alyah£di
O He Who caused Jesus, the son of Mary, to ascend and delivered him from the hands of the Jews!
ُّ ‫س فِي ٱل‬
‫ت‬
َ ُ‫يب نِ َدا ِء يُون‬
َ ‫يَا ُم ِج‬
ِ ‫ظلُ َما‬
y¡ muj¢ba nid¡'i y£nusa f¢ al¨¨ulum¡ti
O He Who answered Jonah's call in the darkness!
‫ت‬
ْ ‫يَا ُم‬
َ ‫صطُفِي ُمو‬
ِ ‫س ٰى بِٱ ْل َكلِ َما‬
y¡ mu¥§afiya m£s¡ bilkalim¡ti
O He Who chose Moses by spoken words!
ُ‫يَا َمنْ َغفَ َر ِآل َد َم َخ ِطيئَتَه‬
y¡ man ghafara li-¡dama kha§¢'atah£
O He Who forgave Adam his slip
‫يس َم َكانا ً َعلِيا ً بِ َر ْح َمتِ ِه‬
َ ‫َو َرفَ َع إِ ْد ِر‬
wa rafa`a idr¢sa mak¡nan `aliyyan bira¦matih¢
and raised Idr¢s to a high place through his mercy!
‫ق‬
ِ ‫يَا َمنْ نَ هج ٰى نُوحا ً ِم َن ٱل َغ َر‬
y¡ man najj¡ n£¦an mina algharaqi
O He Who saved Noah from drowning!
‫يَا َمنْ ا ْهلَكَ َعاداً ٱال ولَ ٰى‬
y¡ man ahlaka `¡dan al-£l¡
O He Who destroyed `ªd, the ancient,
‫َوثَ ُمو َد فَ َما ا ْبقَ ٰى‬
wa tham£da fam¡ abq¡
and Tham£d, and did not spare them,

‫َوقَ ْو َم نُوح ِمنْ قَ ْب ُل‬
wa qawma n£¦in min qablu
and the people of Noah before;
‫إِنه ُه ْم َكانُوا ُه ْم ا ْظلَ َم َوا ْط َغ ٰى‬
innahum k¡n£ hum a¨lama wa a§gh¡
certainly, they were most unjust and more rebellious,
‫َوٱ ْل ُم ْؤتَفِ َكةَ ا ه َْو ٰى‬
walmu'tafikata ahw¡
and al-Mu'tafikah, He also overthrew.
‫يَا َمنْ َد هم َر َعلَ ٰى قَ ْو ِم لُوط‬
y¡ man dammra `al¡ qawmi l£§in
O He Who destroyed the people of Lot
‫ش َع ْيب‬
ُ ‫َو َد ْم َد َم َعلَ ٰى قَ ْو ِم‬
wa damdama `al¡ qawmi shu`aybin
and crushed the people of Shu`ayb!
ً‫يَا َم ِن ٱته َخ َذ إِ ْب َرا ِهي َم َخلِيال‬
y¡ man ittakhadha ibr¡h¢ma khal¢lan
O He Who took Abraham for a friend!
ً‫س ٰى َكلِيما‬
َ ‫يَا َم ِن ٱته َخ َذ ُمو‬
y¡ man ittakhadha m£s¡ kal¢man
O You Who took Moses for an object of His words,
‫صله ٰى ه‬
ً‫ين َحبِيبا‬
َ ‫هللاُ َعلَ ْي ِه َوآلِ ِه َو َعلَ ْي ِه ْم ا ْج َم ِع‬
َ ً‫َوٱته َخ َذ ُم َح همدا‬
wattkhadha mu¦ammadan ¥all¡ all¡hu `alayhi wa ¡lih¢ wa `alayhim
ajma`¢na ¦ab¢ban
and took Muhammad, may Allah bless him and his Household, for a beloved!
َ‫ان ٱ ْل ِح ْك َمة‬
َ ‫يَا ُم ْؤتِي لُ ْق َم‬
y¡ mu'tiya luqm¡na al¦ikmata
O He Who gave Luqm¡n wisdom,
ً ‫ان ُم ْلكا‬
َ ‫سلَ ْي َم‬
ُ ِ‫َوٱ ْل َوا ِه َب ل‬
walw¡hiba lisulaym¡na mulkan
and bestowed upon Solomon a kingdom
‫الَ يَ ْنبَ ِغي ال َحد ِمنْ بَ ْع ِد ِه‬
l¡ yanbagh¢ li'a¦adin min ba`dih¢
such as may not befit anyone after him!

‫وك ٱ ْل َجبَابِ َر ِة‬
ٰ ‫ص َر َذا ٱ ْلقَ ْرنَ ْي ِن َع‬
َ َ‫يَا َمنْ ن‬
ِ ُ‫لى ٱ ْل ُمل‬
y¡ man na¥ara dhalqarnayni `al¡ almul£ki aljab¡birati
O He Who gave Dhul-Qarnayn victory over the tyrannical kings!
َ‫ض َر ٱ ْل َحيَاة‬
ْ ‫يَا َمنْ ا ْعطَ ٰى ٱ ْل ِخ‬
y¡ man a`§¡ alkhi¤ra al¦ayata
O He Who gave al-Kha¤ir (eternal) life
‫س بَ ْع َد ُغ ُروبِ َها‬
‫ش َع ْب ِن نُون ٱل ه‬
َ ‫َو َر هد لِيُو‬
َ ‫ش ْم‬
wa radda liy£sha`a bni n£nin alshshamsa ba`da ghur£bih¡
and returned the sun to Joshua, the son of N£n, after its setti ng!
‫س ٰى‬
َ ‫ب ا ِّم ُمو‬
ِ ‫يَا َمنْ َربَطَ َعلَ ٰى قَ ْل‬
y¡ man raba§a `al¡ qalbi ummi m£s¡
O He Who strengthened the heart of Moses' mother,
‫ان‬
َ ‫ص َن فَ ْر َج َم ْريَ َم ٱ ْبنَ ِة ِع ْم َر‬
َ ‫َوا ْح‬
wa a¦¥ana farja maryama ibnati `imr¡na
and guarded the virginity of Mary, the daughter of `Imr¡n!
‫ص َن يَ ْحيَ ٰى ْب َن َز َك ِريها ِم َن ه‬
‫ب‬
‫يَا َمنْ َح ه‬
ِ ‫ٱلذ ْن‬
y¡ man ¦a¥¥ana ya¦y¡ ibna zakariyy¡ mina aldhdhanbi
O He Who fortified John, the son of Zachariah, against sins
‫ض َب‬
َ ‫س ٰى ٱ ْل َغ‬
َ ‫س هك َن عَنْ ُمو‬
َ ‫َو‬
wa sakkana `an m£s¡ algha¤aba
and calmed the anger of Moses!
‫يَا َمنْ بَش َهر َز َك ِريَا بِيَ ْحيَ ٰى‬
y¡ man bashshara zakariyy¡ biya¦y¡
O He Who gave Zachariah the good news of the birth of John!
‫س َما ِعي َل ِم َن ه‬
‫ح بِ ِذ ْبح َع ِظيم‬
ْ ِ‫يَا َمنْ فَ َد ٰى إ‬
ِ ‫ٱلذ ْب‬
y¡ man fad¡ ism¡`¢la mina aldhdhab¦i bidhib¦in `a¨¢min
O He Who ransomed Ishmael from the sacrifice with a mighty sacrifice!
‫ان َهابِي َل‬
َ َ‫يَا َمنْ قَبِ َل قُ ْرب‬
y¡ man qabila qurb¡na h¡b¢la
O He Who accepted the sacrifice of Abel
‫َو َج َع َل ٱلله ْعنَةَ َعلَ ٰى قَابِي َل‬
wa ja`ala alla`nata `al¡ q¡b¢la
and placed a curse upon Cain!

‫ٱَّللُ َعلَ ْي ِه َوآلِ ِه‬
َ ‫اب لِ ُم َح همد‬
َ ‫يَا َها ِز َم ٱال ْح َز‬
y¡ h¡zima al-a¦z¡bi limu¦ammadin ¥all¡ all¡hu `alayhi wa ¡lih¢
O He Who routed the parties for Muhammad, may Allah bless him and his Household!
‫ص ِّل َعلَ ٰى ُم َح همد َوآ ِل ُم َح همد‬
َ
¥alli `al¡ mu¦ammadin wa ¡li mu¦ammadin
(please do) Bless Muhammad, the household of Muhammad,
‫ين‬
َ ‫ين َو َمالئِ َكتِكَ ٱ ْل ُمقَ هر ِب‬
َ ِ‫سل‬
َ ‫يع ٱ ْل ُم ْر‬
ِ ‫َو َعلَ ٰى َج ِم‬
wa `al¡ jam¢`i almursal¢na wa mal¡'ikatika almuqarrab¢na
all the messengers, Your archangels,
‫ين‬
َ ‫َوا ه ِْل طَا َعتِكَ ا ْج َم ِع‬
wa ahli §¡`atika ajma`¢na
and all those who obey You!
‫سا لَكَ بِ َها ا َحد‬
ْ ‫سا لُكَ بِ ُك ِّل َم‬
ْ ‫َوا‬
َ ‫سا لَة‬
wa as'aluka bikulli mas'alatin sa'alaka bih¡ a¦adun
I beseech You the supplication of every one who has besought you
‫ٱإل َجابَ ِة‬
ٰ ‫ضيتَ َع ْنهُ فَ َحتَ ْمتَ لَهُ َع‬
ِ ‫ِم َمنْ َر‬
ِ ‫لى‬
mimman ra¤¢ta `anhu fa¦atamta lah£ `al¡ al-ij¡bati
and with whom You have been pleased and thus decided to grant his request.
‫هللاُ يَا َ ه‬
‫هللاُ يَا َ ه‬
‫يَا َ ه‬
ُ‫هللا‬
y¡ all¡hu y¡ all¡hu y¡ all¡hu
O Allah! O Allah! O Allah!
ُ‫يَا َر ْحمٰ نُ يَا َر ْحمٰ نُ يَا َر ْحمٰ ن‬
y¡ ra¦m¡nu y¡ ra¦m¡nu y¡ ra¦m¡nu
O All-merciful! O All-merciful! O All-merciful!
‫يَا َر ِحي ُم يَا َر ِحي ُم يَا َر ِحي ُم‬

O All-compassionate! O All-compassionate! O All-compassionate!
‫ٱإل ْك َر ِام‬

O Lord of majesty and honor!

y¡ dhaljal¡li wal-ikr¡mi
O Lord of majesty and honor!
‫بِ ِه بِ ِه بِ ِه بِ ِه بِ ِه بِ ِه ِب ِه‬
bih¢ bih¢ bih¢ bih¢ bih¢ bih¢ bih¢

َ‫سك‬
ْ ‫سا لُكَ بِ ُك ِّل ٱ‬
ْ ‫ا‬
َ ‫س هم ْيتَ بِ ِه نَ ْف‬
َ ‫سم‬
as'aluka bikulli ismin sammayta bih¢ nafsaka
I beseech You by every Name with which You have named Yourself
َ‫َيء ِمنْ ُكتُبِك‬
ْ ‫ا ْو ا ْن َز ْلتَهُ فِي ش‬
aw anzaltah£ f¢ shay'in min kutubika
or which You have sent down in one of Your scriptures
َ‫ب ٱله ِذي ِع ْندَك‬
ْ ‫ا ِو ٱ‬
ِ ‫ستَا ثَ ْرتَ بِ ِه فِي ِع ْل ِم ٱ ْل َغ ْي‬
aw ista'tharta bih¢ f¢ `ilmi alghaybi `indaka
or kept for Yourself in the knowledge of the Unseen with You,
َ‫شك‬
ِ ‫َوبِ َم َعاِق ِد ٱ ْل ِع ِّز ِمنْ َع ْر‬
wa bima`¡qidi al`izzi min `arshika
by the junctures of might for Your Throne,
َ‫َوبِ ُم ْنتَ َه ٰى ٱل هر ْح َم ِة ِمنْ ِكتَابِك‬
wa bimuntah¡ alrra¦mati min kit¡bika
by the utmost limit of mercy from Your Book,
‫ض ِمنْ ش ََج َرة ا ْقالَم‬
َ ‫َوبِ َما‬
ِ ‫﴿ولَ ْو ا ن َ َما فِي ٱال ْر‬
wa bim¡ wa law anna m¡ f¢ al-ar¤i min shajaratin aql¡mun
by the fact that, “though all the trees in the earth were pens
‫س ْب َعةُ ا ْب ُحر‬
َ ‫َوٱ ْلبَ ْح ُر يَ ُم ُّدهُ ِمنْ بَ ْع ِد ِه‬
walba¦ru yamudduh£ min ba`dih¢ sab`atu ab¦urin
and the sea - seven seas after it to replenish it,
‫ٱَّلل‬
ِ ‫َما نَفِ َدتْ َكلِ َماتُ ه‬
m¡ nafidat kalim¡tu all¡hi
yet the words of Allah not be spent.
‫إِنه ه‬
﴾‫ٱَّللَ َع ِزيز َح ِكيم‬
inna all¡ha `az¢zun ¦ak¢mun
Allah is All-mighty, All-wise.”

02. Supplication of the Paralyzed (Mashlool)
‫سنَ ٰى‬
ْ ‫س َمائِكَ ٱ ْل ُح‬
ْ ‫سا لُكَ بِا‬
ْ ‫َوا‬
wa as'aluka bi-asm¡'ika al¦usn¡
And I beseech You by Your Most Excellent Names
: َ‫ٱلهتِي نَ َعته َها فِي ِكتَا ِبكَ فَقُ ْلت‬
allat¢ na`attah¡ f¢ kit¡bika faqulta
that You have described in Your book thus saying,
﴾‫سنَ ٰى فَٱ ْدعُوهُ بِ َها‬
ْ ‫س َما ُء ٱ ْل ُح‬
ْ ‫﴿و ِ هَّللِ ٱال‬
َ
wa lill¡hi al-asm¡'u al¦usn¡ fad`£hu bih¡
“To Allah belong the Most Excellent Names, so call Him by them!”
﴾‫ست َِج ْب لَ ُك ْم‬
ْ ‫ ﴿ا ْدعُونِي ا‬: َ‫َوقُ ْلت‬
wa qulta ud`£n¢ astajib lakum
And You said: “Call upon Me and I will answer you.”
‫سا لَكَ ِعبَا ِدي َعنِّي فَإِنِّي قَ ِريب‬
َ ‫﴿وإِ َذا‬
َ : َ‫َوقُ ْلت‬
wa qulta wa idh¡ sa'alaka `ib¡d¢ `ann¢ fa'inn¢ qar¢bun
And You said: “And when My servants ask you concerning Me, then surely I am very near;
﴾‫هاعي إِ َذا َد َعانِي‬
ُ ‫ا ِج‬
ِ ‫يب َدع َْوةَ ٱلد‬
uj¢bu da`wata aldd¡`¢ idh¡ da`¡ni
I answer the prayer of the suppliant when he calls on Me.”
‫س ِه ْم‬
َ ‫ ﴿قُ ْل يَا ِعبَا ِدي ٱله ِذ‬: َ‫َوقُ ْلت‬
ْ ‫ين ا‬
ِ ُ‫س َرفُوا َعلَ ٰى ا ْنف‬
wa qulta qul y¡ `ib¡diya alladh¢na asraf£ `al¡ anfusihim
And You said: “Say: O My servants who have been prodigal against yourselves;
‫الَ تَ ْقنَطُوا ِمنْ َر ْح َم ِة ه‬
ِ‫ٱَّلل‬
l¡ taqna§£ min ra¦mati all¡hi
do not despair of Allah's mercy.
ُّ ‫ٱَّللَ يَ ْغفِ ُر‬
‫إِنه ه‬
ً ‫وب َج ِميعا‬
َ ُ‫ٱلذن‬
inna all¡ha yaghfiru aldhdhun£ba jam¢`an
Surely, Allah forgives all sins.
﴾‫إِنههُ ه َُو ٱ ْل َغفُو ُر ٱل هر ِحي ُم‬
innah£ huwa alghaf£ru alrra¦¢mu
Surely, He is the All-forgiving, the All-compassionate.”
‫سا لُكَ يَا إِ ٰل ِهي‬
ْ ‫َوا نَا ا‬
wa an¡ as'aluka y¡ il¡h¢
And I ask You, O my God,
Distributed Freely For Any Who Seek

‫َوا ْدعُوكَ يَا َر ِّب‬
wa ad`£ka y¡ rabbi
I call You, O my Lord,
‫سيِّ ِدي‬
َ ‫َوا ْر َجوكَ يَا‬
wa arj£ka y¡ sayyid¢
I please You, O my Master,
‫الي َك َما َو َعدتهنِي‬
َ ‫َوا ْط َم ُع فِي إِ َجابَتِي يَا َم ْو‬
wa a§ma`u f¢ ij¡bat¢ y¡ mawl¡ya kam¡ wa`adtan¢
and I desire for You to respond to me, O my Protector, just as You have promised me —
‫َوقَ ْد َد َع ْوتُكَ َك َما ا َم ْرتَنِي‬
wa qad da`awtuka kam¡ amartan¢
for I have called You just as You have commanded me.
‫فَٱ ْف َع ْل بِي َما ا نتَ ا ْهلُهُ يَا َك ِري ُم‬
faf`al b¢ m¡ anta ahluh£ y¡ kar¢mu
So, do to me what is worthy of You, O All -generous!
‫ين‬
َ ‫َوٱ ْل َح ْم ُد ِ هَّللِ َر ِّب ٱ ْل َعالَ ِم‬
wal¦amdu lill¡hi rabbi al`¡lam¢na
All praise be to Allah, the Lord of the Worlds.
‫صله ٰى ه‬
‫ين‬
َ ‫ٱَّللُ َعلَ ٰى ُم َح همد َوآلِ ِه ا ْج َم ِع‬
َ ‫َو‬
wa ¥all¡ all¡hu `al¡ mu¦ammadin wa ¡lih¢ ajma`¢na
May Allah bless Muhammad and his entire Household.
Then you may pray Almighty Allah to grant you your personal requests and they will be granted, Allah
willing. According to the narration mentioned in Muhaj al-Da`aw¡t, one must say this supplication while
being in a state of ritual purity.

03. To The King Without Consult (Yastasheer)
‫اَ ْل َح ْم ُد َّللِ الَذي ال إِلـ ٍٰهَ إِال ه َُو‬
alhamdo lil-iahil-iazi la ilaha ilia howa
All praise is due to Allah. There is no god but He,
ُّ ‫ا ْل َملِ ُك ا ْل َح‬
ُ‫ق ا ْل ُمبين‬
al-malekool-haqqool-mobeen
the King, the Truth that makes all things manifest
،‫ستَشي ُر‬
ْ َ‫ا ْل ُم َدبِ ُّر بِال َوزير َوال َخ ْلق ِمنْ ِعبا ِد ِه ي‬
al-modabbero, bela wazirin wa la khalqin min ibadehi yastasheer
He is the Administrator without any minister and without consultation with any of his servants.
،‫صوف‬
ُ ‫األَ هو ُل َغ ْي ُر َم ْو‬
al-awwalo ghairo mawsoofin
He is the First, who cannot be described.
،‫ق‬
ِ ‫َوا ْلباقي بَ ْع َد فَنا ِء ا ْل َخ ْل‬
wal-baqi ba'da fanaa'il khalq
He is Eternal and will live forever, (even) after the annihilation of all creatures.
،‫الربُوبِيه ِة‬
ُّ ‫ا ْل َعظي ُم‬
al' azimoor-roboo-bi-yate,
He is the greatest Cherisher and Sustainer
‫فاط ُرهُما َو ُم ْبتَ ِد ُع ُهما‬
َ ‫ت َواألَ َر‬
‫نُو ُر ال ه‬
ِ ‫ضين َو‬
ِ ‫سماوا‬
nooroos-samawate wal' arzeena wa fatiro homa wa mobtade’ohoma
the Light of the earths and heavens and their Creator and Maker out of nothing.
ً ‫بِ َغ ْي ِر َع َمد َخلَقَ ُهما َوفَتَقَ ُهما فَ ْتقا‬
be-ghaire amadin khalaqahoma wa fataqahoma fatqan
He created both of them without any pillars and separated them – a proper separation.
‫سماواتُ طائِعات بِأَ ْم ِر ِه‬
‫ت ال ه‬
ِ ‫فَقا َم‬
faqamatis-sama-wato ta'ea tin be-' amrehi
Thus the heavens became stable in obedience to His commandment
،‫ق ا ْلما ِء‬
َ ‫ض) بِأَ ْوتا ِدها فَ ْو‬
ْ ‫َوا‬
َ َ‫ت األ‬
ِ ‫ستَقَ هر‬
ِ ‫رض ُو َن (األَ ْر‬
wastaqarratil arazoona be-aw-tadeha fawqal-maae
and the earths became fixed on the surface of the water with their pegs.
‫لى‬
ٰ ‫ت ا ْل ُع‬
َ ‫ثُ هم َعال َربُّنا فِي ال‬
ِ ‫سماوا‬
thoomm ala rabbona fis samawatil'ola
Then our Lord subdued the high heavens

ٰ ‫ست‬
،‫َوى‬
ْ ‫شا‬
ْ ‫اَله‬
ِ ‫رحمنُ َعلَ ٰى ا ْل َع ْر‬
ar-rahmano ' alal'arshis-tawa
The Most Gracious is firmly established on the throne (of authority)
ٰ ‫ض َوما بَ ْينَ ُهما َوما ت َْحتَ الثه‬
،‫رى‬
‫لَهُ ما فِي ال ه‬
ِ ‫سماوا‬
ِ ‫ت َوما فِي األَ ْر‬
lahoo ma fis-samawate wa ma fil arze wa ma bainahooma wa ma tahtath-thara
Everything that is in heaven and in the earth and in between them and what is below the earth belongs to Him.
، َ‫ض ْعت‬
ْ َ‫فَأَنَا أ‬
َ ‫ش َه ُد بِأَنهكَ أَ ْنتَ هللاُ ال رافِ َع لِما َو‬
fa'ana ash-hado be-annaka antal-lahoo la rafe'a lema waza'ta
So, I bear witness that verily You are Allah. There is none to elevate what You have lowered
، َ‫واض َع لِما َرفَ ْعت‬
‫َوال‬
ِ
wa la waze'aa lema rafa'ta
And no one to lower what You have elevated
، َ‫َوال ُم ِع هز لِ َمنْ أَ ْذلَ ْلت‬
wa la mo'izza leman azlal-ta
and no one to exalt him whom You leave in disgrace
، َ‫َوال ُم ِذ هل لِ َمنْ أَع َْز ْزت‬
wa la mozilla leman aa’zazta
and no one to bring into disgrace him whom You exalt
، َ‫َوال مانِ َع لِما أَ ْعطَ ْيت‬
wa la mane'a lema aa'taita
and no one to prevent him upon whom You bestow Your favor
َ‫َوال ُم ْع ِط َي لِما َمنَ ْعت‬
wa la mo'teeya lema mana’ta
and no one to bestow anything, which You have withheld.
َ‫َوأَ ْنتَ هللاُ ال إِلـ ٍٰهَ إِال أَ ْنت‬
wa antal-laho la ilaha ilia anta
You are Allah, there is no god but You
‫سماء َم ْبنِيهة َوال أَ ْرض َمد ِْحيهة‬
َ ْ‫ُك ْنتَ إِ ْذ لَ ْم تَ ُكن‬
koonta izlam takon samaa’oon mabni-yatoon w ala arzon madheyatoon
Who existed when there was neither the stable sky nor the broad earth
،‫ش ْمس ُمضيـئَة َوال لَ ْيل ُم ْظلِم َوال نَهار ُمضيـىء‬
َ ‫َوال‬
wa la shamsoon mozee'atoon wa la lailoon moozlemoon wa la naharoon mozi’oon
nor the brilliant sun nor the dark night, nor the bright day,
،‫َوال بَ ْحر لُجـِي َوال َجبَل راس‬
wa la bahroon lojji-yoon wa la jabaloon rasin
nor the vast and stormy sea, nor any sublime and stable mountain,

،‫ َوال قَ َمر ُمنير‬،‫َوال نَ ْجم سار‬
wa la najmoon sarin wa la qamroom mooniroon
nor any revolving planet, nor the luminous moon,
،‫ب‬
ْ َ‫سحاب ي‬
ُ ‫س ُك‬
َ ‫ َوال‬،‫َوال ريح تَ ُه ُّب‬
wa la reehoon tahoobbo wa la sahaboon yaskobo
nor any blowing wind, nor any raining cloud,
،‫سبـِ ُح‬
َ ُ‫ َوال َرعْد ي‬،‫َوال بَ ْرق يَ ْل َم ُع‬
wa la barqun yalma’oo wa la ra'doon yoosabbeho
nor flashing lightning, nor any praising thunder,
،‫ َوال طائِر يَطي ُر‬،‫س‬
ُ ‫َوال ُروح تَنَفه‬
wa la roohoon tanaffaso wa la taa'eroon yateero
nor any breathing soul, nor any flying bird,
‫ َوال ماء يَطه ِر ُد‬،ُ‫َوال نار تَت ََوقهد‬
wa la naroon tatawaq-qado wa la maa'oon yatredo
nor any blazing fire, nor any flowing water.
‫َيء‬
ْ ‫ُك ْنتَ قَ ْب َل ُكل ِ ش‬
koonta qabla koolle shai'in
You existed before the existence of everything
‫َيء‬
ْ ‫َو َك هو ْنتَ ُك هل ش‬
wa kaw-wanta koolla shai'in
and You created everything
‫لى ُكل ِ ش َْيء‬
ٰ ‫َوقَ َد ْرتَ َع‬
wa qadarta ' ala koolle shai'in
and controlled everything
‫َيء‬
ْ ‫َوا ْبتَ َدعْتَ ُك هل ش‬
wab- tada'ta koolla shai'in
and originated everything.
َ‫َوأَ ْغنَ ْيتَ َوأَ ْفقَ ْرت‬
wa aghnaita wa afqarta
You enriched some and reduced others to poverty,
َ‫َوأَ َمته َوأَ ْحيَ ْيت‬
wa amatta wa ahaita
caused some to die and brought others to life,
َ‫ض َح ْكتَ َوأَ ْب َك ْيت‬
ْ َ‫َوأ‬
wa azhakta wa abkaita
and made some people glad and others weep.

َ‫ستَ َو ْيت‬
ْ ‫شا‬
ِ ‫َو َعلَ ٰى ا ْل َعر‬
wa ' alal'arshis-tawaita
Verily You rule from the Throne.
، َ‫َبار ْكتَ يا َهللاُ َوتَعالَ ْيت‬
َ ‫فَت‬
fataba-rakta ya allaho wa ta'alaita
You are of vast blessing, O Allah You are Great and Supreme.
َ‫أَ ْنتَ هللاُ الهذي ال إِلـ ٍٰهَ إِال أَ ْنت‬
antal-lahool-lazi la ilaha illa anta
You are Allah and there is no god other than You.
ُ‫ق ا ْل ُمعين‬
ُ ‫ا ْل َخال‬
al-khallaqool-mo’eeno
You are the Creator and Supporter.
،‫أَ ْم ُركَ غالِب َو ِع ْل ُمكَ نافِذ‬
amroka ghaliboon wa ilmoka nafezoon
Your Decree is overpowering and Your Knowledge is operative.
،‫ َو َو ْعدُكَ صا ِدق‬،‫َو َك ْيدُكَ َغريب‬
wa kaidoka ghariboon wa wa'doka sadeqoon
Your strategy is wonderful; Your promise is true;
،‫ق َو ُح ْك ُمكَ َعدْل‬
ٌّ ‫َوقَ ْولُكَ َح‬
wa qawloka haqqoon wa hookmoka ' adloon
Your word is right; Your command is just;
،‫ َو َو ْحيُكَ ن ُور‬،‫ى‬
ً ‫َو َكال ُمكَ هُد‬
wa kalamoka hoodan wa wah-yoka nooroon
Your utterance is right guidance; Your Revelation is light;
،‫ َو َع ْف ُوكَ َعظيم‬،‫واس َعة‬
َ‫َو َر ْح َمتُك‬
ِ
wa rah-matoka wase'atoon wa ' afwoka ' azimoon
Your mercy is vast and abundant; Your forgiveness is superb;
،‫ َو َعطا ُؤكَ َجزيل‬،‫ضلُكَ َكثير‬
ْ َ‫َوف‬
wa fazloka katheeroon wa ataa'oka jazeeloon
Your grace is excessive; Your gift is most respectable
،‫ َوإِ ْمكانُكَ َعتيد‬،‫َو َح ْبلُكَ َمتين‬
wa habloka mateenoon wa imkanoka ' atidoon
Your cord is strong; Your might is ever ready
‫ َو َم ْك ُركَ َمكيد‬،‫سكَ شَديد‬
ُ ْ‫ َوبَأ‬،‫َوجا ُركَ َعزيز‬
wa jaroka ' azizoon wa basoka shadeedoon wa makroka makeedoon
Your protégé is powerful; Your wrath is severe; and Your stratagem is entrapping

‫وى‬
َ ِ ‫ض ُع ُكل‬
ِ ‫ب َم ْو‬
ِ ‫أَ ْنتَ يا َر‬
anta ya rabbe mawze'o koolle shakwa
O Lord! With You are lodged all complaints.
‫حاض ُر ُكل ِ َمالَء‬
ِ
wa hazero koolle mala'in
You are present in all gatherings,
ٰ ‫َوشا ِه ُد ُكل ِنَ ْج‬
،‫وى‬
wa shahido koolle najwa
and are the witness of all secrets,
‫حاجة‬
ٰ ‫ُم ْنت‬
َ ِ ‫َهى ُكل‬
moontaha koolle hajatin
and the ultimate goal of all supplications,
‫ُمفَر ُِج ُكل ِ ُح ْزن‬
mofarrejo koolle hooznin
the expeller of all sorrows,
‫سكين‬
ٰ ‫ِغ‬
ْ ‫نى ُكل ِ ِم‬
ghena koolle mis-keenin
the affluence of every needy person,
‫صنُ ُكل ِ ها ِرب‬
ْ ‫ِح‬
hisno koolle harebin
the stronghold for every refugee,
،‫أَمانُ ُكل ِ خائِف‬
amano koolle khaa'efin
security for everyone who is terror-stricken,
،‫الض َعفا ِء َك ْن ُز ا ْلفُقَرا ِء‬
ُّ ‫ْح ِر ُز‬
hirzooz-zo'afaa'e kanzool-foqaraa'a
a shield for the weak, a treasure for the indigent,
،‫حين‬
َ ِ‫ُمفَر ُِج ا ْل َغ هما ِء ُمعينُ الصال‬
mofarrejol ghamaa'ay mo'eenoos saleheena
the destroyer of grief, the helper of the virtuous.
،‫ذ ٍٰلِكَ هللاُ َربُّنا ال إِلـ ٍٰهَ إِال ه َُو‬
zalekal-laho robbona la ilaha ilia howa
Such is Allah, our Lord. There is no god but He.
َ‫تَ ْكفِي ِمنْ ِعبا ِدكَ َمنْ ت ََو هك َل َعلَ ْيك‬
takfee min 'ibadeka man tawak-kala, alaika
You satisfyy such of Your servants as trust unto You.

َ ‫َوأَ ْنتَ جا ُر َمنْ ال َذ ِبكَ َوت‬
wa anta jaro, man laz abeka wa tazarra'a ilaika
You are the protector of him who is firmly attached to You and humiliates himself before You,
َ‫َص َم بِك‬
ْ ‫ِع‬
َ ‫ص َمةُ َم ِن ا ْعت‬
'ismato man'etasama beka
a shield for him who seeks refuge with You,
َ‫َص َر بِك‬
َ ‫ناص ُر َم ِن ا ْنت‬
ِ
nasiro manin- tasara beka
the help of him who looks up to You for help,
ُّ ‫تَ ْغفِ ُر‬
، َ‫ستَ ْغفَ َرك‬
ْ ‫وب لِ َم ِن ا‬
َ ُ‫الذن‬
taghfirooz-zonooba lemanis-tagh-faraka
the forgiver of sins for him who begs for Your pardon,
،‫َجبا ُر ا ْل َجبابِ َر ِة‬
jab-barool-jababerate
the compiler of the tyrants,
‫َعظي ُم ا ْل ُعظَما ِء‬
azimool' ozamaa'ay
the most grand of the grand,
،‫َكبي ُر ا ْل ُكبَرا ِء‬
kabirool-koba-raa'ay
the most great of the great,
‫ت‬
َ
ِ ‫سيـِ ُد السادا‬
sayyedoos-sadate
the master of masters,
‫ُم ْولَ ٰى ا ْل َموالِ ْي‬
mawlal-mawali
the Lord of lords,
ُ ‫ص‬
‫خين‬
َ ‫َص ِر‬
ْ ‫ست‬
ْ ‫ريخ ا ْل ُم‬
َ
sareekhool-moostas-rekheena
the Succour of the grieved,
‫بين‬
َ ‫ُمنَفـِس َع ِن ا ْل َم ْكر ُو‬
monaffesoon anil-makroobeena
the Helper of those crying for help,
‫ِين‬
َ ‫ضطَر‬
ْ ‫جيب َدع َْو ِة ا ْل ُم‬
ُ ‫ُم‬
mojeebo da'watil-moztarreena
the Responder to the call of the distressed,

the best of all listeners,

the best of all observers,
‫مين‬
َ ‫أَ ْح َك ُم ا ْلحا ِك‬
ahkamool-hakemeena
the best of all judges,
‫بين‬
َ ‫حاس‬
ْ َ‫أ‬
ِ ‫س َر ُع ا ْل‬
asra' oo1 hasebeena
the most swift of reckoners,
‫مين‬
َ ‫اح‬
ِ ‫أَ ْر َح ُم الر‬
ar- hamor- rahemeena
the most merciful of all the merciful
،‫رين‬
َ ِ‫َخ ْي ُر الغاف‬
khairool ' ghafereena
the best of all forgivers,
‫نين‬
َ ‫ج ا ْل ُم ْؤ ِم‬
ِ ِ‫قاضي َحوائ‬
qazi hawaa'ejil-mo'meneena
the satisfier of the needs of the faithful,
ُ ‫ُم‬
‫حين‬
َ ِ‫غيث الصال‬
mogheesoos-saleheena
and the hearer of the appeals of the virtuous.
،‫مين‬
َ َ‫أَ ْنتَ هللاُ ال إِلـ ٍٰهَ إِال أَ ْنتَ َر ُّب ا ْلعال‬
antal-laho la ilaha illa anta rabbool' alameena
You are Allah, there is no god but You. You are the Cherisher and Sustainer of all the worlds
ْ ٍَ‫ق َوأَنَا ا ْل‬
‫ق‬
ُ ‫مخل ُو‬
ُ ِ‫أَ ْنتَ ا ْلخال‬
antal-khaliqo wa anal-makhlooqo
You are the Creator and I am a creature.
‫َوأَ ْنتَ ا ْلمالِ ُك َوأَنَا ا ْل َم ْمل ُو ُك‬
wa antal-maliko wa anal-mamlooko
You are the Master and I am a servant,
‫َوأَ ْنتَ ال هر ُّب َوأَنَا ا ْل َع ْب ُد‬
wa antar-rabbo wa anal-'abdo
You are the Lord and I am a slave.

‫ق‬
ُ ‫ق َوأَنَا ا ْل َم ْر ُزو‬
ُ ‫َوأَ ْنتَ الرا ِز‬
wa antar-raziqo wa anal-marzooqo
You are the Provider while I am provided with sustenance,
‫طي َوأَنَا السائِ ُل‬
ْ ‫َوأَ ْنتَ ا ْل ُم ْع‬
wa antal-mo'tee wa anas-saa'elo
You are the Giver while I am a beggar,
،‫َوأَ ْنتَ ا ْل َجوا ُد َوأَنَا ا ْلبَخي ُل‬
wa antal-jawado wa anal-bakheelo
You are the Generous while I am a miser.
ُ‫ضعيف‬
‫ي َوأَنَا ال ه‬
ُّ ‫َوأَ ْنتَ ا ْلقَ ِو‬
wa antal-qawi-yo wa anaz-za'eefo
You are the Mighty while I am weak,
‫َوأَ ْنتَ ا ْل َعزي ُز َوأَنَا ه‬
،‫الذلي ُل‬
wa antal-' azizo wa anaz-zaleelo
You are the Noble while I am humble.
،‫َوأَ ْنتَ ا ْل َغنِ ُّي َوأَنَا ا ْلفَقي ُر‬
wa antal-ghaniyo wa anal-faqiro
You are the independent while I am needy.
،ُ‫سيـِ ُد َوأَنَا ا ْل َع ْبد‬
‫َوأَ ْنتَ ال ه‬
wa antas-sayyedo wa anal-abdo
You are the Master while I am a slave.
‫َوأَ ْنتَ ا ْلغافِ ُر َوأَنَا ا ْل ُمسـي ُئ‬
wa antal-ghafiro wa anal-mosee’o
You are the Forgiver of sins while I am sinful.
،‫َوأَ ْنتَ ا ْلعالِ ُم َوأَنَا ا ْلجا ِه ُل‬
wa antal-alimo wa anal-jahilo
You are the Omniscient while I am ignorant.
،‫َوأَ ْنتَ ا ْل َحلي ُم َوأَنَا ا ْل َع ُجو ُل‬
wa antal-hakeemo wa anal-'ajoolo
You are the forbearing while I am hasty.
،‫َوأَ ْنتَ ال هر ْحمنُ َوأَنَا ا ْل َم ْر ُحو ُم‬
wa antar-rahmano wa-anal-marhoomo
You are the All-Merciful and I have been treated with mercy.

،‫َلى‬
ٰ ‫عافي َوأَنَا ا ْل ُم ْبت‬
ْ ‫َوأَ ْنتَ ا ْل ُم‬
wa antal-mo'aafee wa anal-moobtala
You are the Provider of safety but I am involved in suffering.
،‫ضطَ ُّر‬
ْ ‫جيب َوأَنَا ا ْل ُم‬
ُ ‫َوأَ ْنتَ ال ُم‬
wa antal-mojeebo wa anal-mooztarro
You are the Responder and I am the distressed.
ْ َ‫َوأَنَا أ‬
َ‫ش َه ُد بِأنهكَ أَ ْنتَ هللاُ ال إِلـ ٍٰهَ إِال أَ ْنت‬
wa ana-ash-had be' annaka antal-laho la ilaha illa ant
And I bear witness that verily You are Allah, there is no god but You
،‫سؤال‬
ُ ‫ا ْل ُم ْع ِط ْي ِعبادَكَ بِال‬
al-mo'tee. ibadeka bela so’alin
You bestow favors upon Your slaves even without their asking.
‫واح ُد األَ َح ُد‬
ْ َ‫َوأ‬
ِ ‫ش َه ُد بِأَنهكَ أَ ْنتَ هللاُ ا ْل‬
wa ash-hado be-anneka antal-lahool-wahidoo. ahad
And I bear witness that verily You are Allah, the One, the Peerless,
‫ص َم ُد ا ْلفَ ْر ُد‬
‫ا ْل ُمتَفَر ِ ُد ال ه‬
al -mootafarredoos -samadool- fard
the Unique, the Independent, the Single,
،‫َوإِلَ ْيكَ ا ْل َمصي ُر‬
wa ilaikal-maseero
and verily to You we must return.
‫رين‬
ٰ ‫صله ٰى هللاُ َع‬
َ ‫بين الطا ِه‬
َ ِ‫لى ُم َح همد َوأَه ِْل بَ ْيتِ ِه الطهيـ‬
َ ‫َو‬
wa sal-lal-laho ala mohammadin wa ahle baitehit-tayyebeenat- tahereena
May the blessings of Allah be upon Muhammad and his family the holy and pure.
‫َوا ْغفِ ْر لي ُذنُوبي‬
wagh-firli zonoobi
O Lord, forgive my sins
‫ستُ ْر َعلَ هي عيُ ُوبي‬
ْ ‫َوا‬
wastoor ' alayya oyoobi
and keep my faults concealed
ً ‫واسعا‬
ِ ً ‫َوا ْفت َْح لي ِمنْ لَ ُد ْنكَ َر ْح َمةً َو ِر ْزقا‬
waftah-lee min ladoonka rahmatan wa rizqan wase’an
and extend to me Your special mercy and bounteous sustenance
‫مين‬
َ ‫اح‬
ِ ‫يا أَ ْر َح َم الر‬
ya ar-hamar-rahemeena
O the All-merciful!

َ َ‫َوا ْل َح ْم ُد َّللِ َرب ِ ا ْلعال‬
wal-hamdo lil-lahe rabbil' alameena
All praise is due to Allah the Cherisher and sustainer of all the worlds
‫سبُنَا هللاُ َو ْن ِع َم ا ْل َوكي ُل‬
ْ ‫َو َح‬
was hasbonal-laho wa ne'mal-wakeelo
And Allah is sufficient for us and most excellent is the Protector.
. ‫ظيم‬
ِ ‫َوال َح ْو َل َوال قُ هوةَ إِال بِاَّللِ ا ْل َعلِي ِ ا ْل َع‬
wa la howla wa la qoowata illa billahil ali-yil' azim
There is neither might nor power but with Allah the Great, the Exalted.

We are gratitude: feeling, living, and sharing.
I have been deluged by blessings. Blessings deserve to be shared. I am most thankful for light,
for without it, I would be lost, eternally searching without knowledge of what I desire, nor where
to find it.
Gratitude is paying it forward and back. I collect, build, create, and share the most luminous light
I can. To give the gift that keeps on giving, the gift that gave so much to me.
I am a gem continually being polished: gently by loved ones and abrasively by ego. I offer gentle
polishing for those who seek. To help YOUR light shine, as others have helped me.
Light builds upon light. The sharing of one light can enhance and help all others to see. Lights
mix, blend, and purify.
The materials produced and distributed by Rashed Lights Ways capture portions of light. The
source of light is One. No matter its source, those that bring us to light are precious.
I did not, cannot create light. I have seen it, been enamored, and joined with others who collect,
share, and dialogue on its beauty.
We host this light for all to see. Offering and receiving the light, living in it, and sharing its joys.
We bask in its beauty together. Beauty invites desire. Following the desire for light, a request is
made, and the Merciful does not refuse sincere requests for light.

Praise is due to Allah From Whose mercy no one loses hope,
From Whose bounty no one is deprived,
From Whose forgiveness no one is disappointed
and for Whose worship no one is too high.
His mercy never ceases and His bounty is never missed.

--Praise be to Allah Who lies inside all hidden things,
and towards Whom all open things guide.
He cannot be seen by the eye of an onlooker,
but the eye which does not see Him cannot deny Him
while the mind that proves His existence cannot perceive Him.
He is so high in sublimity that nothing can be more sublime than He,
while in nearness, He is so near that no one can be nearer than He.
But his sublimity does not put Him at a distance
from anything of His creation,
nor does His nearness bring them on equal level to Him.
He has not informed (human) wit about the limits of His qualities. Nevertheless, He has not prevented it
from securing
essential knowledge of Him.
So he is such that all signs of existence stand witness for Him till the denying mind also believes in Him.
Allah is sublime beyond what is described by those who liken Him to things or those who deny Him.
