sözcüğü ilk defa kullanılarak özel bir anlam
kazandırılarak sadece havacılık sözlüğü
bağlamında kullanılmak üzere türetilmiştir.
Sözlükte birçok konuda terim, ifade ve
kısaltmaya yer verilmiştir. Bu hali ile; pilot,
pilot adayı, kabin görevlileri, kontrol kulesi,
rampa, uçak bakım ve tamir ekibi, teknik
hizmet,
yer
hizmetlerinde,
apronda,
rampalarda, alan hizmetlerinde, hangarlarda,
teknik destek ünitelerinde, meteoroloji,
uluslararası havacılık ve havacılıkla ilgili daha
birçok alanda çalışanlara ve hatta uçuşlarda
sıkça bu terimlerle karşılaştıkları için yolculara
da hitap etmektedir. Ayrıca sözlük, uçuş ve
uçakla ilgili terim ve kısaltmaların yanı sıra
zeplin, paraşüt, helikopter, askeri uçuş
terimleri, telsiz, radar ve kısacası hava,
havacılık, uzay çalışmaları ve her türlü uçuşla
ilgili tüm deyim, terim ve kısaltmaları da
içermektedir. Sözlükte aşağıda verilen temel

seviyeden oluşan dinleme bölümlerini
kapsamaktadır. Dinleme konuları
ekonomiden askeri konulara dek geniş
bir yelpazede 30 farklı konuda 42 metin ve 15 paragraftan oluşmaktadır. Tüm dinleme bölümü 300e yakın soru ile
desteklenmektedir. Kitaptaki tüm dinleme metinleri ve paragrafları bayan ve bay iki Amerikalı Native Speaker
tarafından kaydedilmiştir.
Kitabın üçüncü bölümü, intermediate (B1), upper-intermediate (B2), advanced (C1) ve authentic (C2) 4 ayrı seviyede

Commercial movies are shown
with subtitles in the learner’s first
language. The subtitles may distract
learners from following the plot, scenes,
characters and events in the movie and
this may only help them to find out how
the translation of the script has been
done. So the learners may rather
concentrate on the subtitle than the
movie itself and this will not help the
instructor to achieve the suggested
goals
from
such
an
activity.
Understanding
commercial
(uninstructional)
movies
without
subtitle may require at least preintermediate
level
of
listening
comprehension. The movies this activity
book covers have been selected for a
purpose so that students should be able
to understand the colloquial language
used in them.
This activity book is designed
with some before - watching activities (BWA) such as discussion questions and reading activity. While-watching
activites (WWA) are designed to help students to follow the plot and events in the movies. After-watching activites
(AWA) cover some comprehension questions, sentence completion and true / false exercises, quotations asking for
‘who said this in the movie’ and a writing execise about the summary, review and various essay types related to the
topics in the movies. So, this tailor-made book can be used to improve integrated skills through implementing

This is a complete practice book of the structure of the English language grammar and it can be used by

Each unit or chapter is divided into two or three levels which are designed from simple to complex, that is to say, from
elementary to advance.
While using this book, the levels in each chapter / unit should be considered in regard to the unit or chapter
itself, because the level of any exercise in any unit or chapter might be different and inappropriate when compared to
each other.
Most exercises in the book were used by our colleagues in the EFL classes and we took various feedbacks
from them which gave us very enlightening ideas in writing this book. Besides, these feedbacks were very useful for us
as to what we have to include and change while presenting the items and subjects related to the exercises.

course book in academic English for Civil Engineering
students.
The course book includes eighteen units from
general to specific and simple to complex. Each unit has a
primary warm-up part along with various reading and
vocabulary activities. The warm-up part is specifically
designed to enable students to have oral discussions and
debates prior to reading the actual texts. Reading activities
urges students to read the text and then answer the
questions given. A comprehension practice follows each
passage and demands a comprehensive study of the text. In
this part, vocabulary practice along with exercises and some
other language activities are given for the purpose of
motivating students to study technical vocabulary within the
texts. Reading activities are designed to help students study
the comprehension of the passages and vocabulary as well. In
some units cloze tests are given relating to the same topic in
the unit to check students’ vocabulary comprehension.
Each unit has also translation and writing parts: in
the translation part, students are reguired to translate the
given passage into Turkish as an assignment; in writing part,
various writing topics, closely related to the reading passages,
are assigned to students as in-class activities or as homework.
The course book is manly designed to be used in
formal class sessions, but it can also be used by students and professionals of the field in self-study of the technical
terminology. The design of the course book will enable students to learn new technical vocabulary and help them to
comprehend technical passages with the aid of given almost 300 field-oriented vocabulary. The meanings of the new
words are given as they are presented in the passages. That is to say, the contextual meanings of the vocabulary are
given in the book. All in all, the book covers almost 400 exercises and various language study points.

The ESPRIE -ESP Readings for Industrial Engineering
textbook is designed for the Industrial Engineering
students who have to study their engineering courses
in English. This is an aid for them to master technical
English vocabulary and ESP reading texts. The book is
so designed that it can also be used as a self-study
book as well. However, mainly it is designed to be
used as a textbook in Technical English ESP courses in
