Bu Bir Aşk Şarkısı Değil: Video Sanatı ve Pop Müzik İlişkisi sergisi kapsamında, sergide
yer alan video enstalasyonları ve kayıt endüstrisiyle bağlantılı müzik videolarını farklı bir
bakışla ele almak amacıyla 1980’lerden itibaren müzik videosunun estetiğini kendine
mal eden ve yapısını söken çağdaş sanatçıların video eserlerinden oluşan bir gösterim
programı oluşturuldu. Bu tür “anti müzik” videoları MTV gibi televizyon kanallarının
teşvik ettiği görsel-işitsel klişelere karşı çıkarak siyasal, toplumsal ve kültürel mesajlar
yansıtan ve/veya veren araçlar geliştirmiştir.
This is Not a Music Video is a screening program presented as part of the exhibition
This is Not a Love Song: Video Art and Pop Music Crossovers. The program explores the
links between music videos and the recording industry with works by contemporary
artists who have appropriated the aesthetics of the music video and have been
deconstructing such imagery since the 1980s. This sort of ‘antimusic-video’ defy the
audiovisual stereotypes promoted by television channels like MTV to generate devices
for reflecting and/or projecting political, social and cultural messages.
