13.Choose the correct option.
Which animal(s) is hunted for money?
The Koala
A)
B)
C)
D)
Koalas are found in the coastal regions of
eastern Australia. The koala is a mammal and
the babies are carried in their mother’s pouch.
When they are one year old, baby koalas cling
to their mother's back constantly. Koalas have
become endangered, because their soft fur is
highly valued. Another reason is because their
habitats have been destroyed by builders.
Koalas only eat one thing - eucalyptus leaves.
If they can’t live where there are eucalyptus
trees, they will not survive.
Which animal(s) will eat only one type
of food ?

Which animal(s) can jump easily?
A)
B)
C)
D)
The scarlet macaw is found in treetops from
Mexico to southern Brazil. It is about 90
centimeters long and is bright red with blue
and yellow wings and a blue and red tail. This
can grow to more than 60 centimeters long!
The macaw has a white face with a big, strong
beak. The tropical forest is its habitat and
provides the macaw with its food - fruit, nuts
and insects. Macaws live for between 50 and
60 years and are easy to tame. They are
famous for imitating the sound of the human
voice and also are sometimes trained to do
tricks. This bird has become endangered,
because its colourful feathers are always
wanted for fashionable clothes. They are also
hunted and caught for selling as pets. There is
a big trade in exotic birds and the macaw is
very popular. Although there are laws to
protect the birds, the penalties are not very
high and this needs to be changed.

Both males and females have curving horns.
Ibexes move very easily and quickly and can
jump from rock to rock - sometimes as far as

because they are hunted by man for food and
