Abstract
in this study, comfort properties of work ciothes used by fishermen working the bordering cities of the Blackest were
investigated with a survey study. it was seen that the existing fisherman ciothes consisting of polyester woven fabric coated
with polyvinyl chloride has 10w air permeability and drapability. it can be said that 10w drapability results from polyvinyl
chloride coating agent on polyester woven fabric. A survey study about fisherman ciothes was carried out. 150 fisher
cooperative society have participated in our survey study. One by one interviews with heads of 150 fisher cooperative
societies have carried out. A questionnaire was used ta clarify the fisherman’s needs and wishes about fisherman ciothes.
Data collected from survey study have been analyzed and commented by statistical anaiysis program. it was understood that
the fisherman ciothes did not protected the people against ta cold weather and the ciothes sweated in hat weathers because
of 10w air permeability. it was understood that the ciothes had the undesirable properties such as limitation of movement,
easy ta dirty, bad odour, sweating and easy ta abrasion and tearing. it was stated that the ciothes are cleaned up and made
dry easily. As a resuit, it was understood that comfort properties of the existing fisherman ciothes were not sufficient. The
results show that the ciothing used by fisherman’s does not satisfy alI the users demands for safety, functionality and
comfort. it is obvious that a new one prototype fisherman clothes for fisher industry in Turkey workers should be designed
and produced.
