Introduction
Istanbul is an international city, home to people of many different backgrounds and nationalities. Our world is riven
with prejudice and misunderstanding and often our differences keep us apart. In actual fact diversity is an opportunity.
With so many different ethnicities, beliefs and cultures living in close proximity to one another, we have a wonderful
chance to learn to listen to one another and appreciate the depth and breadth of the riches we all hold together. This
annual photography project is a small attempt to draw together children from very different backgounds and see the
world through their young eyes as they work together.
All the Photographs shown in this book were taken by the students of Istanbul International School, Pınarbaşı School
Ümraniye and Kazim Karabekir School Ümraniye with with a Kodak disposable film camera between the years 2012
and 2014.

İstanbul farklı köklere ve milletlere yuva olmuş uluslararası bir şehirdir. Dünyamız önyargı ve yanlış anlamalarla
bölünmüş ve farklılıklarımız bizi birbirimizden ayırır olmuş. Gerçek şu ki farklılık bir fırsattır. Bu kadar farklı milletler,
inançlar ve kültürlerin bir arada yaşaması hepimiz için birbirimizi dinleme ve zenginliklerimizin derinliğinin ve
genişliğinin kıymetini bilmek için bir şanstır. Bu geleneksel fotoğraf yarışması farklı kökenlerden çocukların bir araya
getirerek onların gözünden dünyayı görmek için küçük bir girişimdir.
Bu kitapta yer alan bütün fotoğraflar İstanbul International School-Üsküdar, Pınarbaşı Ortaokulu-Ümraniye ve Kazım
Karabekir Ortaokulu-Ümraniye okullarından öğrenciler tarafından Kodak “kullan-at” fotoğraf makineleriyle 2012 ve
2014 yılları arasında çekilmiştir.
Foreword
I am proud to be associated with this publication for two reasons. Firstly because it supports the continuation of a
type of photography pioneered by a fellow Scotsman, John Thompson. In the late nineteenth century he was among
the first pioneer photographers to move out of the studio to study street life and the societies around the world.
Secondly, I am so happy to see how valuable and successful our dialogue and co-operation has been with neighboring
schools in our joint urban art project such as wall murals and photography. In the case of the latter, with a very simple,
inexpensive , disposable, camera students have been able to view, observe and picture aspects of their lives in their
immediate environment. This book represents their co-operation and students, like Thompson , have been able to
observe and capture their urban surroundings with a lens .

I must confess to being a little reticent when Ewen came and invited us to join in with the joint schools project, but in
2012 our collaborations gained significance as Kazim Karabekir School joined in too. I have been proud to see the rare
talent and artistic value of our children's work. I have also noticed the benefit to our children's self confidence. Who
knows, maybe amongst the engineers, teachers and doctors who emerge from amongst our students there maybe
also be a photographer?

Önsöz
İki nedenden dolayı, bu kitabın yayınlanmasıyla bağlantılı olmak bana gurur veriyor. Birincisi,çalışmanın İskoçyalı
vatandaşım John Thompson' un öncülüğünü yaptığı fotoğrafçılık akımının devam etmesine katkıda bulunması. John
Thompson, 19.yüzyılın sonlarında sokak hayatını ve tüm dünyadaki toplumları incelemek üzere stüdyodan çıkan
fotoğraf sanatçılarının öncüleri arasında yer almıştı.
Duvar resimleri ve fotoğrafçılık gibi ortak projeler sayesinde komşu okullarımız ile gerçekleştirdiğimiz işbirliği ve
diyalogun ne derece başarılı ve değerli olduğunu görmekten de ayrıca büyük mutluluk duydum. Projede öğrencilerin
yaşamlarını ve yakın çevrelerini incelemeleri, gözlemlemeleri ve resimleyebilmeleri için ucuz ve tek kullanımlık, çok
basit bir kamera yeterli oldu. Bu kitap sadece işbirliğini ortaya koymakla kalmıyor, aynı zamanda objektifin içinden
kentsel çevrelerini nasıl gözlemleyip resimlediklerini de gözler önüne seriyor.

Ewen (Emin) Bey benimle irtibata geçip okulumla kendi okulları arasında ortak projelerden bahsettiğinde doğrusu
şüpheyle bakmıştım. 2012 yılında resim yarışmasıyla başlayan ortak faaliyetlerimize komşu okulumuz Kazım Karabekir
Ortaokulu da katılınca daha bir anlamlı oldu. Çocuklarımın çok nadir ve sanatsal değeri göz ardı edilemez çalışmaları
beni gururlandırdı. Onların da özgüvenlerine büyük katkı sağladığını bizzat gözlemledim. Kim bilir belki de mühendis,
öğretmen, doktor öğrencilerim arasına fotoğraf sanatçıları da eklenecek.

Devran is a former pupil at Pınarbaşı. Since taking part in the competition she has become more interested in photography and says that taking photographs helps her to feel things more deeply. She has a good eye for colour in the
world around her. Her other interest is local music and dance; as soon as some “ritim” music was played she had to get
up and show us her dancing skills! She has a good eye for colour in the world around her. The photograph she liked the
most shows an old “simitci” or seller of the delicious local sesame seed topped circular bread. This “uncle” caught her
eye as he was wandering the streets selling his wares, because he had a smiling face despite his probably hard life. She
says she is interested in people who have experienced much in their lives and wanted to capture something of his spirit
which was evident to her in his age lines.
Devran Aslandaş, Kâzımkarabekir Mahallesi’nde oturuyor. Katıldığı fotoğraf yarışmasından sonra fotoğraf çekmeyi
daha da çok sevdiğini belirtiyor. Bu yarışmadan sonra çevresine daha dikkatli bakmayı öğrendiğini söyleyen Devran’ın
çevredeki farklılıkları görmek çok hoşuna gidiyor. Fotoğraf çekmenin yanında dans etmeyi ve şarkı söylemeyi seviyor.
Büyüdüğünde mimar olmayı istiyor. Devran okula gelirken gördüğü bir simitçinin fotoğrafını çekmiş. Simitçinin yaşlı ve
güler yüzlü bir insan olması dikkatini çekmiş. Belli bir yaşam tarzını yansıttığı için yarışmaya uygun bir fotoğraf
olduğunu düşünmüş.
Asude has a good eye for contrasting colours and this is evident in her pictures. Her subject is a run down yet charming
white house set against a deep red corrugated iron background. The leafless tree in the middle of the photograph adds
some natural detail, whilst the shopping line in the foreground shows the trappings of every day life. Asude said she
wanted to show that life can be hard for people, but at the same time there is beauty in the every day. Asude likes to
take photos and would like to live in a wide open, peaceful place. Asude is currently in the 8th grade at Pinarbaşı
school and is the oldest of three children. She would really like to be a dentist when she grows up.
Asude Çoban, Pınarbaşı Ortaokulu 8.sınıf öğrencisi ve üç kardeşin en büyüğü. Babasının kendine ait dükkânı var, annesi
ise ev hanımıdır. Asude derslerinde başarılı bir öğrenci, Sağlık Meslek Lisesine gitmek istiyor. Büyüdüğü zaman ise diş
hekimi olmak istiyor. Asude, çektiği ilk fotoğraftaki evi, yaşam koşullarının kötü olduğunu düşündüğü için tercih etmiş.
Arkadaki bordo rengin fotoğrafa güzel bir fon oluşturduğunu düşünüyor. İkinci fotoğraftaki yeri ise ona köyü
hatırlattığı için tercih etmiş. Kendisi şehir hayatını seviyor ve bahçeli bir evde yaşamak istiyor. Asude fotoğraf çekmeyi
çok seviyor. İyi bir makineye sahip olup, yazın profesyonel bir kursa gidip fotoğraf eğitimi almak istiyor. Ayrıca hobi
olarak eski oyuncak araba koleksiyonu yapıyor.
"I wasn't really thinking about anything. On my way to school, I just noticed this on the edge of the street, across from
my house. The dogs are always there." Maybe it's sheer luck, but the line between luck and an artist’s eye can be very
thin. Buse’s photograph of this abandoned structure is a kaleidoscopic assortment of earthy textures and materials.
Gray, brick-red, and sand-colored rocks adorn the front lawn. The tub on the left counterbalances the makeshift
wooden walls. And the roof, though sagging, seems to have just enough strength to carry the weight of its clay tiles. In
any case, Buse’s reflection upon her own work, though succinct, is fair enough; after all, a picture is worth a thousand
words. Buse is an eighth grader at Kazim Karabekir, loves mathematics, and wants to be a nurse or doctor when she
grows up. She is the oldest among two siblings.
"Aklımda bir şey yoktu. Okula giderken evimin karşısındaki sokağın kenarında şunu farkettim. Köpekler her zaman
oradaydı." Bu görüntü şans eseri oluşabilir fakat şans ve sanatın arasındaki sınır çok ince olabilir. Buse'nin terk edilmiş
yapıyı çektiği fotoğrafı çok yüzey doku ve materyallardan oluşuyor. Toprak ve elle yapılan yapı birleşirken gri, kiremitte
kırmızı ve kum rengi taşlar öndeki çimenleri dekore ediyor. Soldaki küvet üstünkörü ahşaptan yapılmış duvarların
dengede kalmasını sağlıyor ve çatı düşmesine rağmen kendi kiremittelerin ağırlığını taşınacak gücü varmış. Bu bina
kendi ağırlığından çökecek mi yada zamanla daha güzelleşecek mi? Ya da ikisi mi? Ne farkeder? Buse'nin anlayışı yok
oluşta en iyiyi yakaladı. Buse Kazim Karabekir'de sekizinci sınıfta matematiği seviyor ve ilerde ya hemşire yada doktor
olmak istiyor. İki kardeşin büyük olanı.
Gabriela is from Spain and is 13 years old. She lives in Şişli and goes to Istanbul International School.
"I wanted to try and represent how nature and urban life are all mixed up here in Istanbul. It was a stormy day and I
was taking my maltese dog 'Boss' out for a walk. He's really small but he saw a rottweiler and he tried to chase it, I fell
over as I tried to stop him and I looked up at the sky and saw the tower blocks and the trees." This is a great picture as
it beautifully describes the relationship of the natural world here with the urban environment, the tower blocks seem
to block out all other life but the tree continues to grow from season to season. Gabriela wants to work in medical
forensics when she grows up.
İspanya’ dan gelen 13 yaşındaki Gabriela, İstanbul İnternational School öğrencisi ve Şişli’ de oturuyor.“Doğal hayat ve
şehir hayatının İstanbul’ da nasıl iç içe geçtiğini yansıtmaya çalıştım. Maltız köpeğim “Boss” u fırtınalı bir günde
yürüyüşe çıkarmıştım. Köpeğim çok küçük olmasına rağmen, gördüğü rottweiler cinsi bir köpeği kovalamaya kalktı.
Durdurmaya çalışırken yere düştüm.Kalkarken gökdelenleri ve ağaçları fark ettim.” Şehir ortamının doğal dünya ile
ilişkisini çok güzel bir şekilde betimlediğinden, ortaya harika bir fotoğraf ortaya çıktı. Gökdelenler diğer yaşamı
engellermiş gibi görünüyor; ancak, ağaçlar mevsimden mevsime büyümeye devam ediyor. Gabriela ileride adli tıp
alanında çalışmak istiyor.
Esra is currently in grade 8 at Pınarbaşı Orta Okulu. She has an older sister Zehra at Umraniye Imam Hatip lisesi and a
younger sister Feyza who is 5 years old. She lives five minutes from the school in Kazim Karabekir which is on the Asian
side of Istanbul. Her father is an iron worker and has his own small shop and her mother is at home. Esra's dream
would be to go to Galatasaray Lisesi in Taksim, which is a very hard school to get into. She would like to be a Turkish
teacher when she grows up. Esra likes to take pictures of people's everyday lives; especially of those for whom life is
hard. The picture of the rubbish collector was taken in Fikirtepe, which is a part of Istanbul that is going to be
developed. She wanted to capture something of what life is like for the poor before the houses get knocked down and
the streets change. Esra knows this part of the city well because her grandmother lives there and she visits her often.
From her perspective it is a dangerous place with drug use in the back streets especially; she much prefers her own
area. Esra's second and contrasting picture was taken in the back streets of Fikirtepe and shows what is known as a
“gece kondu” house with pretty trees in blossom. These kind of houses are found all over Istanbul and were built
quickly in order to secure a place to live, not following current building regulations. They are being pulled down all
over the city to make way for modern earthquake-proof apartment blocks. However these older style houses, usually
one storey with a small garden or land around them have their own character and charm. This is what Esra has
captured in her picture, which she says is the kind of house she would much prefer to live in, rather than the family's
modern apartment. She says she would love to renovate the house, paint it and have a dog outside.
Esra Şenel, Pınarbaşı Ortaokulu 8.sınıf öğrencisidir. Zehra ve Feyza adında iki kardeşi var. Esra’nın annesi ev hanımı,
babası ise demirci ustasıdır. Okula yakın bir evde oturuyorlar. Esra Türkçe dersini çok sevdiği için büyüdüğü zaman
Türkçe öğretmeni olmak istiyor. Fotoğraf çekmeyi ve çekinmeyi çok seviyor. Esra‘nın anneannesi Fikirtepe’de yaşadığı
için bu semti çok iyi tanıyor. Fikirtepe yaşam standartları çok düşük ve kentsel dönüşümde olan bir semttir. Bu yüzden
çoğu bina yıkılmış halde bulunuyor. Ayrıca bu semt, bağımlı insanların çoğunlukta olduğu tehlikeli ve terkedilmiş bir
semttir. Bu özelliklerinden dolayı Esra, ‘Yaşam Alanları’ konulu fotoğraf yarışması için Fikirtepe’de çekim yapmanın çok
uygun olacağını düşünmüş ve ilk fotoğrafta hayatını sürdürebilmek için zor şartlarda yaşayan, çöplerdeki kâğıtları,
plastikleri toplayan genç bir insanı çekmiş. İkinci fotoğrafta ise bahçeli bir evi görüntülemiştir. Esra apartmandan
ziyade bahçeli bir evde yaşamayı istiyor çünkü apartmanda yaşamanın yeterince özgür olmadığını düşünüyor.
Aslı Bozkurt is a former pupil at Pınarbaşı and is currently in grade 9 at Validebağ Anadolu Sağlık Meslek Lisesi in
Koşuyolu. She is the second of four children and would love to be a family doctor when she grows up. She is also
interested in art, literature and poetry and would love to be involved in art therapy to improve patients' mental health.
Her father is a prison warder in charge of young people in Kartal and she clearly admires him for doing this challenging
job. Since taking part in the competition she says notices the details of people's everyday life much more and
particularly likes sunsets. Her winning photograph was taken one evening at sunset, when she went out with her sister
walking around the area in which she lives, close to Pınarbaşı school. The warm russet glow of the roof of this everyday
home is what makes this picture striking. However, it is not her favourite picture; she much prefers her photo of an
urban sunset seen through the frame of rundown buildings, with a pool of water in the foreground reflecting the
evening light . This clearly shows her eye for capturing how the fading light can create a magical atmosphere, even in
urban scenes. She says she likes to take pictures of sunsets, because of the colours, especially yellow, blue and white.
Aslı Bozkurt Validebağ Anadolu Sağlık Meslek Lisesi 9.sınıf öğrencisidir. Kâzım Karabekir‘de oturuyor. İleride, aile
doktorunu çok sevdiği için doktor olmak istiyor. Ayrıca fotoğrafçılığı hobi olarak yapmak istiyor. Bir abisi ve iki kız
kardeşi var. Annesi ev hanımı, babası ise cezaevinde gardiyan olarak çalışmaktadır. Aslı ‘Yaşam Alanları’ adlı fotoğraf
yarışmamızın birincisidir. Aslı birincilik aldığı fotoğrafına çok güvenmediğini söylüyor. O gün hava karanlık olduğu için
güzel çıkmayacağını düşünmüş. Bu fotoğrafı kendi mahallesinde çekmiş. Aslı ikinci resmini diğerinden daha çok
sevdiğini söylüyor. Su birikintisinin yansıması ve gün batımının güzel bir resim vereceğini düşünüyor. Aslı resim yapmayı
çok seviyor. Doktor olduğu zaman resim atölyesine sahip olmak istiyor. Aslı kendisinin yetenekli olduğunu düşünüyor.
En sevdiği şiirler, Can Yücel‘in ‘Anladım’ ve Necip Fazıl Kısakürek’in ‘Beklenen’ adlı şiirleridir. Aslı yarışmadan sonra
fotoğraf konusunda çok şey öğrendiğini düşünüyor. Çevresindeki farklılıkları fark ettiğini söylüyor. Bu yarışmadan sonra
giyim tarzının çok değiştiğini ayrıca daha uyumlu ve renkli giyinmeyi tercih ettiğini söylüyor.
Buse Karasakal, Pınarbaşı Ortaokulu 8.sınıf öğrencisidir. İki kardeşler. Büyüdüğünde avukat olmak istiyor. Kitap
okumayı çok seviyor. Buse, yarışmadan önce hiç makine ile çekim yapmadığı için biraz korkmuş. Yarışmada dereceye
gireceğini hiç düşünmemiş. Ancak çektiği fotoğraflara güvendiğini söylüyor. Buse’nin çektiği fotoğraf yarışmamızda 3.
oldu. Bu fotoğraftaki evi ve yeri, köy yaşamını anımsattığı için, ayrıca sessiz bir ortam olduğundan tercih etmiş. Sobalı
bir ev ve balkondaki canlı kırmızı renkli çamaşır, göze ilk çarpan nesneler olduğu için dikkat çekici bir fotoğraf olmuş.
İkinci fotoğrafı da yine aynı bölgede çekmiş. Burada da renkler çok ilgisini çekmiş. Üçüncü fotoğrafı ise Üsküdar’da
tarihi bir sokakta çekmeyi tercih etmiş. Buse fotoğraflarında renkleri iyi kullandığını düşünüyor ve fotoğraf çekmek onu
çok heyecanlandırıyor.
Before taking part in the competition, Buse was nervous of taking photographs and lacked self confidence. She said
she was shocked when her photograph of a two storey house with colourful washing hanging from the balconies
earned her third prize. The composition is lively with balancing red and green colours. She said she liked the chimneys
on the house and the sense of bustling family lives that must be within the walls of the house. Buse is currently in
the 8th grade at Pinarbaşı school. She loves to read and would like to become a lawyer in the future.
Derin is 13 years old and is from South Africa and Turkey. She goes to Istanbul International School. "We were in the
school bus and I was waiting for my friend to come down to the bus. I looked up and saw the arch inbetween the two
tower blocks and quickly took a few pictures, this was the only one that came out well. I had to take the picture
quickly as the bus was beginning to move." Derin doesn't really know what she wants to do in the future yet.
13 yaşındaki Derin, Türk ve Güney Afrika asıllı. İstanbul International School’ a devam ediyor. “Okul servisinde oturuyor
arkadaşlarımdan birinin servise binmesini bekliyorduk. Başımı kaldırdığımda iki gökdelenin arasındaki kemeri gördüm
ve çabucak bir iki fotoğraf çektim. Bu, aralarında en düzgün çıkan fotoğraftı. Otobüs hareket etmeye başladığından,
fotoğraf biraz aceleye geldi.”Derin gelecekte ne yapmak istediğine henüz karar vermiş değil.
"In the midst of the chaos, there is an order," says Beyza, the thirteen year old from Kazim Karabekir. "This is a place of
life, a happy home for the cats." What she noticed when she saw these grounds was not the leftovers, but the life that
inhabited them. It's either the gaze of a mature heart or the fresh perspective of youth that enables her to see the
vestiges of life amidst such a scene. But she's not overly idealistic about the abandoned lot either. "I don't want the
grounds to remain this way. Perhaps the cats could go to a better place like a shelter." She continues her philosophic
ruminations about Üsküdar and her beloved Turkey: “I hear about people getting killed for five lira, but it shouldn't be
this way. We are brothers. Salvation is possible. In the midst of the complications, we could also find life, like in the
picture." Beyza is an eighth grader at Kazim Karabekir. She loves mathematics, wants to learn English because it's a
universal language, and intends on becoming an architect. She also loves art.
“Kaosun ortasında bir düzen var” diyor Kazim Karabekirden 13 yaşındaki Beyza… “Burası hayat dolu bir yer, kediler için
mutlu bir ev.” Onun burada fark ettiği, kırık dökük şeyler değil onun içinde yeşeren hayat. Böyle bir görüntü karşısında
bile hayatın canlılığını görmek ancak olgun bir kalbi genç bir perspektifle birleştiren birinin bakışı olabilir. Fakat bu
onun kötü manzarayı da onaylaması anlamına gelmiyor. “Böyle bir yerin bu şekilde bakımsız olması üzücü. Kedilerin bir
barınak gibi daha iyi bir yere gitmesi iyi olur.” diyor. O, Üsküdar ve Türkiye ile ilgili derin düşüncelerine devam ediyor:
“İnsanların 5 lira için öldürüldüğünü duyuyorum fakat böyle olmamalı. Biz kardeşiz. Kurtuluş mümkün. Bu
olumsuzluklar içinde bile bu resimde olduğu gibi hayatı bulabiliriz.” Beyza KKB’de 8. Sınıf öğrencisi. Matematiği
seviyor. İngilizce öğrenmek istiyor çünkü o evrensel bir dil. Mimar olmak istiyor. Ayrıca sanatı seviyor.
"Cluck. Cluck. Cluck. Screech. Cockadoodledoo." These aren't exactly the sounds of love, unless you're Derya Eyvaz.
Derya took this picture of her family's beloved chickens as her dad was feeding them sunflower seeds, a morning and
evening ritual of her father. "It shows my father's love for animals and the love that animals and humans can have for
each other.” She nostalgically points out the bright reddish-orange and black rooster strutting in the background, the
bald-necked female being fed sunflower seeds, and its offspring plucking at seeds next to it. “They're no longer with us
because of a street dog. And sickness." But as she talks, you can see that this has more to do with her deep affection
for her father rather than her avian friends. She dreams of one day buying a farm for him after he retires.
If asked whether her family has plans to raise any more chickens, she shrugs and simply says, "We have to look after
my younger sibling now."Fourteen-year-old Derya is the middle of two siblings and wants to become a Turkish teacher
when she grows up.
"Cluck. Cluck. Cluck. Screech. Cockadoodledoo." Eğer Derya Eyvaz değilseniz bunları sevgi sesleri olarak işitemezsiniz.
Derya ailesinin şirin tavuklarının bu fotoğrafını babası onları ayçiçeği ile beslerken çekti. Bu, babasının her sabah ve
akşam yaptığı adeta bir tören. “Bu, babamın hayvanlara olan sevgisini gösteriyor. Aynı zamanda insanların ve
hayvanların birbirine karşı duyduğu sevgiyi.” O, özlemle, arkada yer alan çalım satarak yürüyen parlak kırmızı-turuncu
renkli horozu, boynu kel kalmış çekirdek yiyen tavuğu ve onun yanında düşen çekirdekleri toplayan yavrusunu işaret
ediyor. ”Onlar bir sokak köpeği yüzünden artık bizimle değil. Ve hastalık yüzünden” Fakat konuştukça üzüntüsünün
tavuk dostlarından ziyade babası ile ilgili olduğu anlaşılıyor. Babası emekli olunca ona bir çiftlik almanın hayalini
kuruyor. Ailesinin daha çok tavuk yetiştirip yetiştirmek istemediği sorusuna omuz silkerek basitçe cevap veriyor:
“Şimdi küçük kardeşime bakmalıyız” Derya üç kardeşin ortancası ve büyüyünce Türkçe öğretmeni olmak istiyor.
Nesrin is a former pupil of Pınarbaşı and is currently in grade 9 at Ateşihir Mimar Sınan Güzel Sanaatlar Lisesi. She is
studying drawing at the moment and wants to be an architect. She lives with her mother who works at a shopping
centre; she has one older brother who lives separately with their father. Nesrin is a particularly creative student, who
writes her own poetry and songs; in fact she and Asli spontaneously sang one of their own songs for us during the
interview. She hopes to work in advertising when she grows up. She also mentioned that she loves reading and is
writing her own fiction book. As she talked about her picture of a boy and girl looking out over the Bosphorus at the
mist in the distance, she found it hard to pinpoint why she was attracted to this scene, but her comments were very
engaging. This photo was aparently inspired by a picture she had drawn on the theme of water and life. She had the
impression that the couple in the photograph seemed a bit afraid of the sea in front of them and also commented on
how the mist on the other side of the water was a symbol of the uncertainty of life. She loves the deep green of the sea
and the pair of trees to the right of the couple. Another photo she took from the top of a hill in Beykoz, shows a
striking sunset scene of the Bosphorus, again featuring the clouds and mist which seem to attract her so much.
Nesrin Çağla Akın, Ataşehir Mimar Sinan Güzel Sanatlar Lisesi resim bölümü 9.sınıf öğrencisidir. Annesi ve anneannesi
ile birlikte yaşıyor. Annesi bir alışveriş merkezinde halkla ilişkiler sorumlusu olarak çalışıyor. Kendisinden büyük bir abisi
var. Çektiği fotoğrafta, yarışma konumuz ‘Yaşam Alanları’ olduğu için ‘su olan yerde hayat vardır’ düşüncesiyle deniz
kenarında çekim yapmayı uygun bulmuş. Fotoğrafında deniz, aşk, sevgi ve hayat olduğunu, yeşil alanların huzur
verdiğini düşünüyor. Fotoğraftaki ağaç, yapraklarını döktüğünden ona sonbaharı hatırlatıyor. 2. fotoğrafında ise Yoros
Kalesi’nde çekim yapmayı tercih etmiş. İstanbul Boğazı ile gökyüzünün buluşması onu çok etkilemiş. Gün batımını
seviyor. Sis olduğu için renkler soluk, ancak bu durumun fotoğrafı güzelleştirdiğini düşünüyor. Nesrin ileride reklam
tasarımcısı ve felsefe yazarı olmayı istiyor. Deneme, makale ve şiir okumayı çok seviyor. Ayrıca hayal gücünü geliştirici
romanlar okumaktan çok hoşlanıyor. Nesrin, Aslı Bozkurt ile çok iyi arkadaş olduğunu söylüyor. Onunla birlikte
konuşmayı ve şarkı söylemeyi ayrıca şarkı bestelemeyi çok seviyor.
One, one, two. One, two. Without hesitating, this red-jacketed girl skips her way through the hopscotch boxes. As she
twists around, she takes a breath, surveys the lines ahead of her, and let's the thrill of accomplishment settle in her
soul. Then she's off again. The pleasures are quite simple. If only we could somehow retain a bit of our childhood
pleasures as well. "I could see the girl's subtle smile, which first caught my attention. I took the picture because she
was happy,” says Busenur, who spied the girl as she played alone during break. When asked where she sees happiness,
Busenur said that she notices it on the faces of kindergarteners during gym class. Kids--and joy. It's not rocket science
to say that a bit of jumping around and challenge can do wonders for our souls, something worth reconsidering for us
grownups. Game of hopscotch, anyone?
Busenur is thirteen years old and has a six-year-old sister. She loves English and wants to become a doctor.
Bir, bir, iki. Bir, iki. Kırmızı montlu kız seksek oyununun karelerinden sekti. Dönerken, nefes alıp öndeki karelerin
çizgilerini gözden geçiriyor ve ruhuna bir an başarının zevki konuyor. Hemen harekete geçiyor. Zevkleri çok basit. Kızı
tenefüste yalnız oynarken gören Busenur "Dikkatimi çekti kızın gülümsemesini görebildim. Mutlu olduğu için bu
fotoğrafı çektim" dedi. Mutluluğu nerede gördüğü sorulduğunda Busenur mutluluğu beden eğitimi dersindeki ana
sınıfların yüzlerinde fark ettiğini söylüyor. Çocuklar -- ve sevinç. Biraz hareket ve başarı herkese iyi geliyor, bunu
söylemek hiç de zor olmasa gerek. Biz yetişkinler için böylesi bir durumu yeniden gözden geçirmemiz gerekiyor.
Şimdi seksek oynamak isteyen var mı?
Busenur 13 yaşında ve kız kardeşi altı yaşında. İngilizceyi seviyor ve doktor olmak istiyor.
Harry was 13 years old when he took this picture. He is from the UK but now lives in Çekmeköy in Istanbul. He goes to
Istanbul International school. I was passing the magnolia tree in our garden and took a picture of it on my phone. I
thought it looked good so I took a picture with one of the disposable cameras we were using for the photo
competition. I liked the slightly fuzzy effect that the flowers had next to the sky even though there were no filters on
the camera to give any effects. I'd like to continue photography as a hobby as I grow up but I don't know what I want
to do in the future.

“Yanından geçerken, bahçemizdeki manolya ağacının fotoğrafını telefonumla çektim. Çok güzel olduğunu
düşündüğüm için, fotoğraf müsabakasında kullandığımız kullan-at kameralardan biri ile fotoğrafı tekrar çektim.
Kamerada görüntü efekti için herhangi bir filtre olmamasına rağmen gökyüzü ile birlikte görünen çiçeklerdeki hafif
bulanıklık hoşuma gitti. Gelecekte fotoğrafçılığa bir hobi olarak devam etmek istiyorum ama büyüyünce ne olmak
istediğime henüz karar vermiş değilim.”
