B
u yaz deniz, güneş ve sükûnetin tadını layıkıyla çıkarmak istiyorum. Hepsini birlikte bulabileceğim bir yer Çıralı,
Olympos Lodge. Mitolojik tanrılara ev
sahipliği yapmış Tahtalı Dağı, yaklaşık
4000 metre uzunluğundaki enfes kumsal,
portakal, mandalina, limon ağaçları dolu
bahçeler… Çıralı’ nın güzelliği büyüleyici.
Olympos Beydağları Milli Parkı içerisindeki
1. ve 3. derece sit alanı olarak koruma altında bulunan Çıralı’yı başta Romalılar olmak
üzere ele geçirmek isteyen çok olmuş eski
zamanlarda. Rivayete göre Çıralı’yı almak
için gelen bir ordu şehri ele geçirmeye gücü
yetmeyince gece keçi boynuzlarına yanan
çıralar bağlayıp onları kente salmış. Yerli
halk keçilerin ışığını görünce onları düşman
sanmış ve hemen teslim olmuş. Bu olay sonrasında da kent “Çıralı” ismini almış. Çıralı
bugün caretta caretta deniz kaplumbağalarının yumurtlama alanı ve organik tarım
merkezi.
Gelelim Olympos Lodge’a. Burası ağaçlar
içerisine gizlenmiş, kocaman bir araziye
yayılmış bir butik otel. Kumsalı da sessiz,
bahçesi de. Tam istediğim, dilediğim, beklediğim gibi. Etrafta horozlar, tavuklar, civcivler, harika kuyruklu tavus kuşları dolanıyor.
Sabah kahvaltısında yavru kedi istilasına
uğruyoruz. Akşam masamızın yanına bir kirpi geliyor. Ben ilk defa bir kirpi görüyorum.
Otelin sahibi Ziya Şimşek ile akşam yemeği sırasında tanışıyoruz. 25 yıl önce gelmiş
Çıralı’ya. “Kirpi süt sever” diyor. Kirpiye süt
veriyoruz, içiyor. Bendeki şaşkınlık görülesi.
Göldeki kaplumbağaları seyrediyorum akşamüzerleri. Atlayıp çıkıyorlar suya. Sonra
kurbağa yakalamaya çalışıyorum gözlerimle,
yeşilliğin arasında.
Çıralı’nın en meşhur balık restoranı Azur
Restoran. Sahildeki Orange Restoran’ın yörük ayranı, Hayriye Hanım’ın köy unundan
yaptığı gözlemeleri çok lezzetli (Gözlemeci
Hayriye).
Ruhen ve bedenen dinleniyorum. Sakinlik
geliyor üstüme. Gece gürültü yok, Bodrum’daki gibi yüksek sesli müzik yok. Ses
yok, ışık yok. Yattığın yerden gökyüzünü seyrediyorsun. Sevdiğin adamla tek tek yıldızları
sayıyorsun.

I want to make the most of the sea, the sun
and peace this summer. Çıralı, Olympus Lodge is a place where I can find them all. Mount Olympus, which has hosted mythological
gods, the 4000 meters long wonderful beach,
gardens full of orange, tangerine, lemon trees… The beauty of Çıralı is mesmerizing.
There used to be lots of people, especially Romans,
who attempted to conquer Çıralı, which is under protection as a high and medium level archeological area
in Olympus Beydağları National Park. According to a
legend, an army which came to surround Çıralı tied
burning kindles to horns of the goats at night and let
them go to the city as they were not strong enough to
capture the city. When the native population notices
the light, they thought it was the enemy and surrendered immediately. After this, the city was named
“Çıralı.” Çıralı is the organic agriculture center and
spawning ground of caretta caretta marine turtles.
Olympus Lodge is a different story. This is a boutique hotel extended on a wide area hidden in trees.
Both its beach and garden are quiet. It is just like I
want, wish and expect it to be. There are roosters,
chickens, chicks and peacocks with wonderful tails.
We are surrounded by kittens during breakfast. At
night, a porcupine comes by our table. That is the
first time I have ever seen a porcupine. We meet Ziya
Şimşek, the owner of the hotel, during dinner. He has
been in Çıralı for 25 years. He says “Porcupines love
milk.” We give milk to it and it drinks. My amusement
is worth seeing. I watch the turtles in the lake in the
evening. They get in and out of water. Then I try to
catch frogs with m eyes within the grass.
Azur Restaurant is the most famous fish restaurant of
Çıralı. Yoruk ayran (buttermilk) of Orange Restaurant
and the gozleme (Turkish type of flannel cake) made
with village flour by Hayriye are quite delicious (Gözlemeci Hayriye).
I relax mentally and physically. I am filled with quietness. No noise at night, no loud music as in Bodrum.
No sounds, lights. You watch the sky from the place
you lie. You count the stars one by one with the man
you love.

Çıralı’dan sonra yola çıkıp gece geç
saatlerde varıyoruz Villa Mahal’e. Sahiplerinden Şebnem Hanım güleryüzle
karşılıyor bizi, her zamanki gibi. Sonra
sarılıp öpüyor; “Hoşgeldiniz” diyor. “Aç
mısınız?” İnsanın benimsediği, alıştığı
düzeni araması normal değil mi? Bu
istek senede bir kere, 3-5 günlüğüne
gittiğin bir yerde değişir mi? Kahvaltıda
ne yiyeceğimi, hangi platformda güneşleneceğimi biliyorum. En tepeden,
odalardan denize 181 merdiven var.
Cennette ulaşmak için 181 merdiven.
Günler erken başlıyor, erken bitiyor
burada. Otel sahiplerinin köpeği Pako
yemek saatlerinde bize eşlik ediyor.
Yemek sonraları kitabım göbeğime
düşüyor, içim geçiyor. Şemsiye altında
kestiriyorum.
Meraklı, maceracı turistler gündüzleri şezlongları bizi bırakıp Sarıbelen,
Bezirgan, İslamlar köyleri, Kekova,
Uçağız, Batık kent Xantos’u (Kınık)
görmeye gidiyor. Kimileri dağ bisikleti
ya da paragliding yapmaya, denizde
kano binmeye gidiyor.
Akşamüzeri otelin teknesiyle Kalkan’a
gidiyorum, Araba ile 30 dakika süren yol, tekne ile 5 dakika sürüyor.
Kalkan’ın merkezinde sahilde restoranlar; İlyada, Trio, Coast, Yakamoz,
Patlıcan. Merdivenleri çıkmayı göze
alırsan yukarıda Merkez Cafe, yeni açılan Gourmet. Deri çanta, incik boncuk,
lastik top, güneş kremi, terlik alabileceğin dükkânlar. Meral Değer’in cam
kedilerine vurulduğum Kalkan Sanat
Evi. Kedili eşyalar, biblolar satan diğer
bir dükkân Gallery Sarpedon.
Çok mu sevdin buraları? 50.000
GBP’a 2 oda bir salon, havuzlu bir ev
alırsın. Yok kiralasam olmaz mı diyorsan, haftalık 200 GBP’ye en kral dairede yaşarsın.
Ağır ağır giriyorum denize, saydam,
turkuaz suyun tadını çıkara çıkara.
Kalkan’dan gelen motorun ardında
bir adam su kayağı yapıyor. Her düşüşünden sonra tekrar ayağa kalkıyor.
Ben onu seyretmekten yoruluyorum,
o düşmekten yorulmuyor. Akşamüzeri
Pink Martini ya da Sade çalıyor. Piyasa
şarkıları duyamazsın buralarda. Tatilde
ne okudun dersen: Gölge Hırsızı, Marc
Levy; Kirpi’nin Zarafeti, Muriel Barbery;
Mırıldandığım Öyküler, Julio Cortazar;
İkinci Yarısı Ece Temelkuran.

We arrive at Villa Mahal at late
hours after taking the road
from Çıralı. Şebnem, one of
its owners, welcomes us with
cheerfully as always. Then she
hugs us and kisses, says “Welcome. Are you hungry?” Isn’t
it normal that one misses the
order s/he is used to? Is this
feeling possible to change in a
place you go for 3-5 days once
a year? I know what to eat in
breakfast, at which platform
should I sunbathe.
There are 181 stairs from the
top, the rooms; 181 stairs to
reach the heaven. Days start
and end early here. Pako, the
dog of the owners of the hotel,
accompanies us during the
meals. After the meals my
book falls on my stomach and
I fall asleep. I take a little nap
under the umbrella.
The curious, adventurous tourists go to see the villages
Sarıbelen, Bezirgan, İslamlar,
İSTANBUL & ISTANBUL
and Kekova, Uçağız, Xanthus
(Kınık). Some go mountain
biking or paragliding, some go
canoeing.
I go to Kalkan with the boat of
the hotel in the evening. It takes 5 minutes by boat while it
takes 30 minutes by car. There
are restaurants at the center of
Kalkan, on the beach: Ilyada,
Trio, Coast, Yakamoz, Patlıcan.
If you run the risk of climbing
the stairs, Merkez Café is upstairs, newly opened Gourmet.
There are stores where you
can buy leather bags, trappings, balls, suntan cream,
and slippers. I fall in love with
the glass cats of Meral Değer
in Kalkan Sanat Evi. Gallery
Sarpedon is another shop
where goods with cats and
knickknacks are sold.
Do you feel an incredible love
towards this place? You can
buy a house with two rooms
and a swimming pool for only
50.000 GBP. If you want a rent,
then you can live in the best
flat for only 200 GBP a week.
I walk slowly to the sea by enjoying the transparent, turquoise water. A man surf rides
behind the motor coming from
Kalkan. He gets to his feet
again after each fall. I feel tired
while watching him; he does
not get tired of falling down.
Pink Martini or Sade plays in
the evenings. You cannot hear
the popular songs here. If you
ask what I have read during

alkan’dan döner dönmez annem ile
sabah saat 8:00 uçağı ile Antalya’ya gidiyoruz. Oradan da 70 kilometre mesafedeki Side’ye. Geçen sene açılan ve açıldığı
sene dünyanın en büyük tur operatörlerinden biri olan TUI’nin misafir memnuniyetine dayanarak düzenlediği anket
çalışmaları sonucunda “2011 Tui Holly”
yarışmasında dünyanın ilk 100 oteli arasına giren AliBey Resort’ta kalacağız. Kalkan ve Çıralı’da butik oteller tercih ettim
hep, aslında tatil köyü konsepti bana göre
değil ancak ben çalışırken annemin de sıkılmaması lazım. AliBey Resort, 120.000
metrekarelik ağaçlık bir alana yayılmış
butik tatil köyü.
Odamıza yerleştikten sonra annem sahile
iniyor hemen, bu yıl ilk defa denize girmenin
heyecanını yaşıyor. Ben odada çalışıyorum.
Sonra annemi aramaya, denize bir dalıp
çıkmaya gidiyorum. Havuz başındaki kalabalığa takılıyor gözüm, animasyon ekibi bir
yarışma yapıyor. Gözlerimi kapıyorum ve 13
yaşıma geri dönüyorum. Ben çocukken her
sene ailece tatile çıkardık ve babam bizler iyi
vakit geçirelim diye farklı tatil köyleri seçerdi.
Tatil köyü 13 yaşındaki bir çocuk için özgürlük demek. Anne babadan bağımsız havuza
girmek, yemek yemek, aqua parkta balıklama, bombalama ve ters balıklama havuza
atlamak, akşamları discoda dans etmek demek. Hangimiz animatör kızların güneşten
iyice bronzlaşmış vücutlarını kıskanmadı ya
da ekibin en yakışıklısına kalbini kaptırmadı
ki? İşte ben 13 yaşımdan beri tatil köyüne
gitmiyordum. Öğle yemeği sonrasında annemle birlikte denize girdik. Side’nin 10 kilometrelik Büyük Plajı’na bakıyor AliBey Resort. Plaj mavi bayraklı. Su tam bana göre,
ne soğuk ne sıcak. Ne kadar yüzersen yüz
boyunu geçmiyor.
Akşam animasyon olduğunu öğreniyoruz.
“Oley” diyorum, “Şimdi skeç yaparlar, sonra
da kulüp dansı!” . Zira benim çocukluğumdan kalan animasyon anlayışı bu. Ancak
animasyonda Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde’ın tiyatro
versiyonunun özel kostümlerle sahnelendiğini görünce şaşırıyorum. Bu animasyon değil,
tam bir tiyatro oyunu.
Akşam yemek sonrası annemle Side’ye inmeye karar veriyoruz. Side’nin yaklaşık on
altı bin kişilik antik tiyatrosu geçmişten kalanlar arasında en sağlam yapılardan bir
tanesi. M.S. 5. yüzyılda inşa edilmiş Bizans
Hamamı ise bugün Arkeoloji Müzesi olarak
hizmet veriyor. Likya yolu üzerindeki Side’de
Pamfilya bölgesinin en güzel tapınakları yer
alırmış. Bunlardan günümüze kalanlar Athena ve Apollon adına yapılmış. Yarımadanın
en ucundaki tapınaklardan bugüne pek bir
şey kalmasa da gece ışıklandırmasıyla çok
güzel görünüyor.
Çarşıya araba ile girilmiyor. Çarşıda dolaşırken sağda solda sahte çanta, deri ceket,
ayakkabı, gümüş ve altın takı ile hediyelik
eşya satan dükkanları görüyoruz.
Başka başka:
-Side’ye gelmişken mutlaka Manavgat Çayı
üzerinde bulunan şelaleyi görmeye gitmelisin. Titreyen Göl ile ormanlık alanla denizin
buluştuğu yer olan Sorgun’u da listene ekle.

bu yıl Uluslararası Side Kültür ve Sanat
Festivali’nin 11.’si düzenlenecek. Antik Side
Tiyatrosu ve Apollon Tapınağı’nda gerçekleştirilecek etkinlikler de ücretsiz. Side dünyaca ünlü orkestraları, dansçıları ve sanatçılara ağırlayacak. Daha fazla bilgi istersen

Öğlen yemeği sonrasında annem gökyüzünde paracyling yapanları işaret edip “Var
mısın?” sorusunu patlatıyor. “Varım” diyorum. LZ Su Sporları’nın standına uğruyoruz.
Bizi tekneye alıyorlar, önce can yeleklerimizi
giyiyoruz, sonra paraşüte bağlanıyoruz. “Tamam mısınız, hazır mısınız?” diye soruyor
kaptan. Ben daha ne olduğunu anlamadan
bir bakıyorum 200 metre yukardayız. “Annnneee” diye çığlığı bastığım sırada yanımda
halinden gayet memnun, korkunun emaresini göstermeyen annem “Efendim yavrum”
diye cevap veriyor. 15-20 dakika boyunca
havada Side’nin muhteşem sahilini, denizin
mavi, turkuaz ve lacivert renklerini, mavi
yolculuk ve günü birlik seyahat teknelerini
görüyoruz. LZ Su Sporlarında ayrıca sörf,
katamaran, jet ski yapmanız, banana, ringo
ve flyfish’e binmeniz mümkün.
Annem sahilin keyfini çıkarırken ben Olimpiyatlarda bronz madalya almış, 2010 sezonunu dünya ikincisi olarak tamamlamış Vera
Zvonareva ile tenis oynamaya kortlara doğru
gidiyorum. Vera benden bir iki hareket öğrenmek istedi, onu nasıl kırarım? Kıran kırana
bir maç yapıyoruz ve kazanıyorum!!! (İnanmıyor musun?).

My mother and I go to Antalya as soon as we come from
Kalkan with the 8 am flight.
Then we go to Side, which is
70 km away. We will stay at
AliBey Resort, which was included in the best 100 hotels
of the world after the competition “2011 Tui Holly” with the
evaluation of the results of the
surveys organized on the grounds of customer satisfaction
by TUI, which was founded
last year but became one of
the biggest tour operators of
the world the same year. I
always prefer boutique hotels
in Kalkan and Çıralı. Actually
the holiday camp concept is
not just for me but my mother
should have fun while I am
working. AliBey Resort is a boutique holiday camp extended
to a wooded area of 120.000
meter squares.
After moving in our room, my
mother immediately goes to
the beach with the excitement
of going to the beach for the
first time this year. I work in the
room. Then I go to look for my
mother and swim. The crowd
by the pool catches my eye.
The animation team directs a
competition. I close my eyes
and go back to the age 13. We
used to go on a holiday every
year when I was a child. My
father would choose different holiday camps to make
us have fun. A village camp
means freedom for a child in
13. It means swimming in the
pool, eating, jumping to the
pool headfirst, like a bomb or
headfirst from your back in the
aqua park, dancing in disco at
night independently from the
parents. Who have never got
jealous of the tanned bodies
of the animator girls or fallen
in love with the most handsome man in the team? I haven’t
been to a village camp since I
was 13. We go swimming with
my mother after lunch. AliBey
Resort is directly opposite 10
km long Büyük Plaj of Side.
The beach has a blue flag. The
water is just for my, neither cold
nor hot. No matter how long
you swim, it does not pass
your height.
After lunch, my mother asks if I
want to try paracycling by showing people on the air. I say
“yes”. We stop by the store of
LZ Water Sports. They take us
to the boat and first we wear
our lifejackets, then we are tied

to the parachutes. The captain
asks if we are ready. Without
even noticing what happens, I
see us 200 meters above the
ground. When I scream saying
“Mother!!!”, my mother turns
and replies in a very contented mood without any signs of
fear saying “What dear?” We
watch the wonderful beach of
Side, the blue, turquoise, navy
blue colors of the sea, cruises
and daily boats for 15-20 minutes. It is also possible to choose other alternatives within LZ
Water Sports such as surf, catamaran, Jet Ski, banana, ringo
and flyfish.
While my mother enjoys the
beach, I go to the courts to
play tenis with Vera Zvonareva
who has won bronze medal in
Olympic Games and was the
world no. 2 in the season 2010.
Vera wants to learn a few moves from me, how can I reject
her? We have a challenging
match and I win!!! (Don’t you
believe it?)
We learn that there is animation in the evening. I say “Yay!”
“First they will perform sketches and then the club dance!”
This is the understanding of
animations left from my childhood. I get shocked to see the
performance of the theater version of Dr. Jekyll/Mr. Hyde with
special costumes. This is not
an animation but a complete
theater performance.

It is not possible to go to the
bazaar by car. There are lots
of stores selling fake bags,
shoes, silver and gold jewelry
and souvenirs everywhere.
My mother and I decide to
go to Side after dinner. The
antique theater of Side with
a capacity of nearly sixteen
thousand people is one of the
safest constructions survived.
The Byzantine Bath built in 5th
Century AD is used as an Archeology Museum today. There
used to be the most beautiful
temples of Pamfilya Region in
Side which is on Lycia road.
Those who have survived up to
today were built for the sake of
Athena and Apollo. Although
not many things have been left
from the temples which were at
the furthest side of the penin-
